Our First Time to Jamaica: AWESOME!!!
We arrived to Montego Bay airport on Saturday evening. Our flights were on-time and no issues going through Customs EXCEPT for one thing. When they give you the custom form to fill-out on the airplane, make sure you COMPLETE EVERY Section of the form! The Stewardess just handed them out and didn't say a word. No biggey, you just get pulled over and have to complete those sections (make sure you have a couple pens too). The bus arrived shortly after we got to the waiting area. Sadly, we sat on the bus for another 20+ minutes waiting for more passengers, I guess, but no one else got on the bus.
We arrived at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in about 15 minutes and check-in was quick and easy. We were settled into their "Building 2" room on the third floor with a view of one of the pools, and you could see the ocean...very beautiful view. The room had a king size bed, coffee maker, hair dryer, ironing board and iron! It was clean and odor free! Be aware, there's a stage between buildings 1 and 2, so you hear loud music most every night playing until AT LEAST 10 pm! We brought ear plugs which did the job when our tired bodies needed to sleep.
The room was cleaned every day and they did a great job! They even left flowers (a couple) and a towel wrapped to look like a swan on our bed - cool!
The buffet is your typical buffet. When a large crowd is served buffet style then everything is pretty generic, (just to appeal to the masses). While all of the food was edible, it isn't a savory as you might like. There are 4 restaurants that are wonderful, but make sure you make a reservation for them the day/night before you want to eat at it. 3 of these restaurants are on the second floor in the building where you check-in and the Seafood restaurant is on the other side of Building 1...we almost missed eating there because we didn't know about it and you can't see it with out walking around / through building 1.
We didn't book any excursion until we arrived. With just 5 days, we didn't know if we wanted to or not. We booked the catamaran/Dun River Falls excursion which included snorkeling...it was a BLAST!
There are tiki huts through out the compound where you can get good things to eat and drink. The drinks come in small (about 6 oz.) cups so you might want to bring something a little bigger!
5 days was too short and we wish we had made it for 7 days!
Suggestions: Bring sunblock spf 50 at least and use it! The first day we got nicely burned (we are old enough to know better not to!) and had to deal with that the rest of the time. The hotel will give you "towel" cards that can be handed over to get a beach towel. We talked to some veteran travelers who had brought their own beach towels so they didn't have to deal with that, (back of the card says the hotel may charge you $20 if you lose it!). Oh yeah, bring LOTS of small bills so you can tip!
Over all we were very happy and enjoyed our vacation at the Holiday Inn Sunspree and we would definitely go back!
How can I say anything negative for a package and direct flight all for about $850 per person on a 7 day 6 night to Jamaica?! There were minor snafus, but overall, the pleasant relaxations that the Holiday Inn Sunspree offered and additional excursions we had done made my wife and I say, "WE WILL RETURN MON!"
Clean, well maintained, near the airport. Great service and food at the Buffet Restaurant. Chevelle was one of our waitresses that did an outstanding job, and really enjoys serving tourists like us. Nightly hotel entertainment was above average with some really talented singers. The hotel had its own small island a very short walk across the water for sunbathing which was a nice added feature that other hotels don't offer.
we really enjoyed the resort but will try to get a non stop flight the next time as this should not be an all dat trip from Orlando,all of the staff were excellant/friendly,we met some really nice people from all parts of the world,we will go back

Hello,
I wanted to book the Jamaica trip for 4 nights, but when I do, it tacks on airfair making it $717 or so. How do I make sure to get the all inclusive with air without having them tack on air? Also, do we need passports to go to Jamaica? When is the best time to go? What days are the cheapest to flight out of LAX? I'd like to get answers before I move forward.

The package pricing as advertised on the site includes airfare and hotel accomodations based on flights out of Miami. When changing your departure city to Los Ageles, this automatically increases the base price of the reservation by $250 per person. So when the site provides you with a price of $717 per person, this is the going rate for hotel accomodations and airfare from LAX. The winter season is considered the busiest time of year, and therefore is generally more expensive than travel in the summer and fall.

I would not waste my money on this resort. I am currently staying here and I think that it's a complete waste of money. You would be better off staying at a regular hotel and going to restaurants. The food would certainly taste better! Yes you definitely need your passports for Jamaica. Be prepared to wait in line at customs and immigration when you get here!!!

You do need passports that's what I was told and don't fly with Spirit Airlines. Each bag is $30 each way. We had two bags and we paid $63 each way.

Hi Yolanda. Yes, you DO need a passport to travel to Jamaica. Airfare is in addition to the resort charge, but if you book in advance, you can get a good price through Cheap Caribbean. My advice to you - don't use US Airways!!!!! I highly recommend the Holiday Inn Sunspree to you. It can't be beat - and I've been to Jamaica many times over the years. My family and I just returned Saturday and had a wonderful time there. You won't be disappointed! I'd say that from now through July would be a good time to travel to Jamaica - but again, anytime on the island is fantastic! Best wishes for a great vacation!

I found that the really low airfare prices were if you flew out of Florida. We also found that flying out on a Wednesday and returning on a Tuesday seemed to keep the price of flying lower. You can put in different dates for arrival and departure to see what is cheaper. Yes, you will need a passport to get in and out of Jamaica. We just got back last week and had a wonderful time! It was amazing!

As far as the extra money added leaving from LAX, it does that to any state but Miami. It did for us too leaving from Philadelphia.
The cheapest time to fly is normaly mon-wed.

the $479 rate is a base rate and it goes up based on where you fly from. Most resorts are all inclusive and you will definately need a passport. Passports can take up to 12 weeks to get unless you pay an extra fee, so keep that in mind when you book your trip

You do need passports! Your rate sounds about right - I'm not sure you're going to find anything any cheaper than that! We were told by the local Jamaican folks that the rainy season start in May and continues into September, so I'd recommend going in March/April! Both times I've been to Jamaica, it was in April - it was only around 83 degrees or so, but the humidity makes it feel much warmer!

Just when you choosing resort, check departure city on top and it will show prices including air fare from destination you of you choice. You do need passport, it is different country. It is same weather all year long, so really best time for me is when is better prices.

I just got back from there. Had a wonderful time with my daughter. we spent approx. $ 1800.00 for all inclusive hotel plus air and 2 tours, also get the trans form/ to - airport approx. 20-30 dollars. You will need a passport ! The weather was hot but not as bad as here in CA. It was humid but you spend alot of time in the water.

The Holiday Inn Sunspree is strictly an all inclusive resort. The starting price for the current special at the Holiday Inn Sunspree is based on flights out of Miami, however you can change the departure city to New York. There will be an additional cost to fly from New York for this package. Any other resort can also be priced from New York by using the gold "Create Your Own Vacation" box at the top left hand corner of the page. Just select a destination, dates of travel and the meals included option and the available All Inclusive resorts will be priced for you.

Hello, my fiancee and I are currently planning our honeymoon and we were hoping to get an all includive package. I know that some all inclusive packages are different from each other, but we were looking to get a package that include all unlimited foods and beverages (alcohol included) for the entire 7-day trip, spas, tours, entertainment and other exciting things. The food and beverage and the flight is the main thing for us, but side attractions won't be bad either. I just want to know if your all includive package for the Jamaica holiday inn resort for $549 includes all of this, or if you have any other packages.

I would recommend it. We ate way too much food and drinks and it was all included. Also, book a dinner (also included) at the Breezes rest. in the resort. Try the food, its prepared by the locals. Go sailing, kayaking and there is an "adult area" also with a swim up bar. The resort has plenty of entertainment. I also recommend going to Dunn Falls. Great place for honeymooners. Make a trip to Margaritaville take the catamaran trip and go to the Jamaican Bobsled bar. If you want to just chill at the resort its a great place.

Just returned yesterday from this resort. Alcohol, all other beverages, meals, and flight were included in our package. The food isn't the best but for 1500.00 dollars for 4 nights plus airfare and meals, it was a great price. The place is clean, the hospitality isn't great and there are lots of kids there. There are also three restaurants you can make reservations but you have to make the reservations the night before you eat there. You should be at the courtesy/information desk every morning at 7 am to get your reservations because they go QUICK. There is also a small adult pool and beach area that isn't roped off in the adult beach area. Small but we enjoyed those areas most. The landscaping at the resort is gorgeous. If you have an extra 800-1000, I would stay at the Iberostar. But if you are just dying to go to Jamaica and you aren't picky, you could have a good time at this resort. We had a great time but have a good sense of humor. For example, my husbands sandals were stolen right off the beach....Gotta have a sense of humor about that or it could ruin your vacation. Ox tail, braised kidneys, boiled green bananas, are examples of food you will find on the buffet. No thanks. Make sure you get your dinner reservations.... I enjoyed the beach area very much but my husband thought it was a little small. The water is pretty shallow.

The price is right. Have been to the resort twice in the past 2 yrs. They have a nice Gazebo sitting in the ocean for the wedding they cater to all of the weddings we have seen there. the Cool Runnings Dunn River Falls cruise is fun. The trip to Margaritaville is fun ( wear Bathing suits they have a water slide). Watersports at resort are fine as well.

All inclusive entails hotel, flight, food, drinks, alcohol, nightly entertainment, non-motorized water sports, other sports activities (volleyball, golf, etc), and the kids camp. It does not include the salon/spa, shopping, tours or excursions. The extra stuff (waterfalls, parasailing, etc) is easy to book through the Guest Services desk at the hotel.

This is a family resort. There is an adult section, but keep in mind, all the entertainment and eating are where the families are. We had a great time, but not sure if I would go just with my husband. If your budget is limited, then go for it because everything is included!! Food is great and so are the drinks. Just bring 32oz cups with you to fill your drinks with because they only serve in 4oz cups. Hve fun!

All your food, beverages are included alcohol as well. Non motorized sports are also included. We just returned from our honeymoon at the Holiday Inn Resort. Too many kids!! Food is alright nothing out of this world. If your honeymooning I would choose an adult only resort.

We just returned from Jamaica and spent 6 days at the Holiday Inn Sunspree. The all-inclusive includes drinks (soda, juice, water, and alcohol) and food. If you go, bring a large insulated cup for drinks as the cups they provide are very small. The resort has 3 restaraunts in which you must make dinner reservations for (included) and one buffet style restaruant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the hotel lobby. The food was typical all-inclusive food meaning that it was edible but not something you would want to eat all the time. The hotel is older but clean and the beach is small. However, for the money it isn't that bad. If you could afford to spend a bit more, I would choose an adult only hotel in Negril. Negril is beautiful and has tourquoise water. Montego Bay is a large city.

Everything is included. Bring a larger cup or thermos if your are a drinker because the back and forth with the eight ounce cups isn't fun. Tons of food at multiple spots along beach. Snorkeling...well bring your own. Very few and you only get hr. Nightly show are free out by the pool. you literally don't need a dime if your plan is to stay at the hotel. Boring... Hit the excursions. Best time of your life

Usually for formal, or even dress casual the men have to wear long pants. They can get away with sandals but not flip flops and a golf shirt is usually ok, as long as it is a collared shirt. Women can wear capris and sandals or sundresses but not shorts. hope this helps. Although we did not stay at the Holiday Inn this is general dress for all resorts,

They say no flip flops, tank tops or shorts for ladies and man have to wear long pants. The pants are the most important, I saw man wearing jeans, sandals and regular t-shirts. My daughter wore one of this rompers with shorts and I had my regular beach flip flops on, and nobody said anything.

Hotel to resort is about 10 minutes. Very very close but listed taxi prices are unbelievably high. If you can haggle on price, I wouldnt worry about taxi safety. Taxi's are quite often shuttles/vans and have red plates.

You can probably still get on the shuttle bus and I would if you can. It is only a 5-10 min drive, but the taxi will cost you $30-40 US dollars. When we got to the airport we told them we were staying at the Holiday Inn and they directed us to the shuttle bus stand where they put a wrist band on us and then we walked out to the bus. On our way to the airport the bus left us so we had to take a cab and we bargained with him because all we had left was 17 dollars. He agreed to it and we were glad because its a 6 dollar fee to take cash out of the atm.

It is better to use the shuttle. Taxis tend to be expensive. Shuttle runs all day from 10:00 AM to 3:00 and takes you to the city for night life in the evenings.

Babysitting is offered at the resort for an additional cost, but the pricing would depend on the time of day, the age of the child, and other factors, therefore we would not be able to quote a specific price at this time.

They dont have in room babysitting but they have a playplace/daycare that sits the children I believe until 9 pm... I've heard great things from the couples that had their kids stay with them.

I don't know if they have in-room babysitting, but they do have a kids club that took infants. There were two age ranges that they accepted so that the infants were not with the older kids. I do not think there was a fee for this, but I am not sure. There were quite a few infants their during our visit.

They do offer in room nanny service. The cost is $10/hr for up to 2 kids up until about 12am I think. Then a higher rate from 12am - 2am, and higher still for 2am-whenever. Not sure if you'd leave your kids like that, but we used it to go to dinner one night and it was great. Ask for Joyce!

Sunspree is only 15 minutes from airport and a taxi costs $7.50 per person.

Hotel shuttle to airport was $22 for 2 guests both ways. There were some free shuttles from hotel to Margaritaville (but you can visit that place in any major american city) and the shopping centers. All other shuttles are part of tours.

We had the hotel transfer to and from the hotel added to our package from CheapCarribean. We used JTL for the transfers and for our day trip to the Dunns River falls. It was not much and well worth it. The Taxi's are very expensive.

Thank you for your question. The only difference between the room categories is the view. All of the rooms are renovated and have the same amenities including mini fridge, wi fi in the room, 2 doubles or 1 king bed, balcony or terrace. The Standard has a city view, the Superior has an Ocean view, and the Deluxe has an Ocean Front view.

Building 7 had higher ceilings which made the room seem a little bigger. It also had a fridge in a cabinet but not stocked with anything. The beds were king size but a little hard.. No extra blankets to soften them in the room. The bathrooms were all the same size, big enough for 1 person at a time. The rooms were clean but not new. The first 2 rooms were the same, King size bed, 2 nightstands. long dresser with tv on top and a small table with a chair and a small couch. One chair on the patio with a small table and the other rooms had 2 chairs on the patio and a small table.

I had paid for a garden view- 1 king or 2 queen beds-Extravagganza. I got upgraded for free to an ocean view, 2 queen beds. I think it was a Superior room, but not sure. It had a desk and chair and a mini fridge, balcony, and small lounge chair inside the room. Great size!

Yes - at the adult pool. There were numerous topless sunbathers there. My husband obviously enjoyed that!

You need to have on at least a bathing suit at the beach and pool. A decent cover up is good at the buffet. For dinner at the restaurants where you will need a reservatins ,trousers are needed for the men and button up or polo shirt. For women a dress, skirt or slacks are appropriate.

When pricing out a package with children the airfare will be included but it is not free. If your package does qualify for the "children stay and eat free", the only thing that should be charged for the children is airfare, taxes and other adds ons purchased.

Call the hotel, you can upgrade upon check in. We inquired about the kids suite which would have coat an additional $500 for the week but, was not worth our money as we did not spend any time in our room. The beds are small so if you are sharing the bed I would ask to see if they have kids size bed.

Yes, in most cases a single person in the room will pay more per person than two persons sharing a room. The resorts price the room according to double occupancy so generally, a single person is paying around the same price himself as two people combined are paying for the same room.

I think the package is based on double occupancy. Check with the folks at Cheap Caribbean. I'm pretty sure that kids are free. This place is family oriented and a lot of folks with young kids go. We saw one family with eight kids. The primary allure of this place is the price.

This resort does not specify a dress code, however, generally the a la carte restaurants require the men to wear closed toe shoes ( no sneakers) and a collared shirt, long pants. The women are able to wear a skirt, dresss or capris with nice sandals.

The buffet requires no swimsuits as well as no tank/muscle shirts for the men at dinner (other times of the day the only requirement is for no wet clothes). The other restaurants were the same, however most people dressed up a bit for them....closed toe shoes and button up shirt for the men, slacks or skirt for the ladies. Nothing terribly fancy but a bit dressier.

You just can't eat in the air conditioning. Seabreeze and the Jamaican restaurant is just casual like shorts and a nice shirt etc. Buffet you can wear anything except wet bathing suits.

The Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay Jamaica is all-inclusive.
All the food and drinks are included. There is a buffet everyday. There are also four specialty restaurants that you need to make reservations for. There are fountain machines for sodas, etc and bars throughout the resort. There is also a Jerk Chicken Hut that serves wonderful chicken and pork throughout the day. All free. It was really really nice.

Casual wear... the only requirements were no tank tops of flip flops. The atmosphere in the restaurants is elegant. I wore maxi dresses with sandals and my sons wore collared shirts, shorts and sandals.

I believe there was a dress code that didn't allow flip flops, bathing suits or tank tops. We wore sundresses everywhere with sandals. Very comfortable and relaxed. Recommend a shrug for nighttime as the entertainment is outside and there was a slight breeze (not fun with a sunburn)

You must have a passport for Jamaica. US Citizens do not need a visa. To drive in Jamaica, a US drivers license is ok but they prefer an international drivers license that is obtainable from places like AAA. Keep in mind, as a former British colony, Jamaicans drive on the left. Driving in Jamaica is not recommended if you have no experience in driving in other countries.

The Hoiliday Inn Sunspree Montego Bay is an all inclusive property. This means that all of your meals, snacks as well as alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are included in the package price. Some restaurants may require a surcharge for certain items such as prime cuts of steak or lobster.
Baggage allowances and pricing can vary by airline so you will want to check directly with your carrier to see what their restrictions are.

Food all day long and pretty darn good. We brought one bag for the two of us and we were comfortable in bathing suits, shorts, tops and sandals. Bring a nice shirt or light tropical dress if you go to a nice restaurant but really not necessary.

Yes dining is included. The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner until 10PM. At 10PM the Barefood Grill opens up again serving grilled cheese, hamburgers, veggieburgers and fish. (You can eat all day long)
You must make reservations by 3PM the day before for the other restaurants. So for the first night the buffet is your only choice.
As far as bagge goes the airline charages $25.00 per bag each way and the is not included.

Yes, dining is included. Three buffet meals a day (breakfast was about 3 hours, lunch was about 2 hours and dinner was about 3 hours) plus restaurants (some you have to make reservations for) and a Jerk Hut and Barefoot Bar that provides "snacks" like grilled cheese, hamburgers and jerk chicken/pork throughout the day. No worries about having food at any time.

The price we got as all inclusive include all the food in the dining room as well as the other places, the food and drink are so many and you can eat all day and drink all day with wine. It is too much as I think, some people really like it.

Its seems once the sun sets, the pool closes- it's definitely not open at night as we saw a few people get kicked out of the pool when they jumped in at about 10pm - they were pretty drunk though and ended up being escorted back to their rooms after they went in the pool again after being told not to.
Sidenote: This hotel does have a free shuttle to the Margaritaville in Montego Bay it leaves at 10pm + 11pm and drops you back off at resort at 1am + 2am

The lifeguard is off at 5 but I don't think the pool ever closes. They had 2 different pools. One big circular pool and then the adult pool.

The hockey and foosball tables are included. There is a purchase price for the XBox--$3/30 minutes and a time must be reserved. The dancing and driving games require 4 tokens ($1/4 tokens). This is subject to change, but it will give you a rough idea on what to budget for.

I never saw any real "arcade" just the pool tables and ping pong. I traveled with 6 kids ages 5-18 and no one ever missed the fact that there was no arcade since there was plenty of activities to keep them all busy. This is a great FAMILY resort. The beach and the pool are gorgeous!! All of the kids made plenty of friends on the first day and they all had a ball. Food is just average though-I highly recommend making reservations at the specialty restaurants. All are free except for the teppanyaki which is $20 pp (kids 12 and under are free). Definitely worth the money-it was excellent! Also be sure ALL of the guys bring long pants you want to eat at the Italian restaurant (jeans are OK)

You'll want to look at the room categories. The Superior room offers a partial ocean view and the Jr Suite offers either a garden or partial ocean view; however, the Deluxe room may give you a better view of the ocean. It will not be ocean front, but it will be more than what a partial ocean view would offer you.

Every building has ocean view rooms depending on where you get put. It is the luck of the draw if you book a standard room. I've been to the resort 5 times and been pretty lucky with the view. I actually got a better view when I booked a standard room than when I paid extra for ocean view

Yes, We drove to the Holiday Inn Express hotel, where we stayed and parked our car there for the week. The room is great, a full free breakfast is included, free shuttle to/from airport....all; for $99.00. No additional cost to us for the car. The hotel shuttled us to the airport free of charge and picked us up at the airport upon our return, All no fee. Our tip was appreciated.

The extravaganza rooms are typically available at lower prices. It is always smart to check to see if there are any Added Values, because the extravaganza rooms will not always be eligible for certain promotions (if it doesn't state the room category in the added values, be sure to confirm the rate codes). Aside from that, the room at the resort is the same between the two categories.

Literature in room says that you do not. That if you really want to there is a tip box at the front desk that you can leave and they will divide. Or you can specify who you would like tip to go to. We did, however, tip a couple of people who treated us well.
Example: When I won at the casino, I tipped the 2 ladies inside, or the bar tenders at the Jerk Hut, where we ate every day!

The beach area as well as the island were very nice...sand was raked every morning...and always kept clean! Plenty of beach chairs that were quite comfortable. Water was warm...and we walked to the island without getting our swim suits wet...knee deep water. Also saw small fish and folks doing scuba diving looking at the coral and fish. Great beach for the kids as well as people watchers.
The SunSpree brought in local vendors several nights and their was shopping just off the property but it was very hot getting there with little shade...very hot...and half way there we turned around and came back to the SunSpree.

There are many small beaches within an easy walk on the premises. The water is warm and shallow, however there is a lot of wind there.
Some people walked across the street to street vendors but they regularly sell right at the resort...don't forget to bargain!
We had a family of 4 adults and 2 children and investigated going to the Falls or swimming with the dolphins....each would have cost us $300 so we skipped it and just stayed at the resort.
We did take advantage of the Hobbie Cat sail boat which they crew and take you out for a 15 minute sail...kids loved it.

I am actually a pool person. But my wife loves the beach. So for the week I was on the beach everyday. Very clean , water clear. Fishes swim right next to you . Alot of activities there. 30$ cab ride to downtown Montego bay. That was an experience.

Don't drive its IS too difficult due to differences in driving side. Roads r winding and narrow. Not enough directional signs to guide u. Please book excursion so u can sit back on relax and have a tour guide teach u about the island. It is too stressful to drive.

Holiday Inn SunSpree Montego Bay is located 15 minutes from downtown Montego
Bay and approximately five minutes from Sangster International Airport.
Minimum Stay
A 2-night minimum stay is required at this resort with the following exceptions:
A 1-night minimum stay is required for travel Aug 19 - Dec 22, 2013.
A 5-night minimum stay is required for travel Dec 23, 2013-Jan 1, 2014.
A 3-night minimum stay is required for travel Apr 22, 2013 and Aug 18, 2013.
A 5-night minimum stay is required and a 14 night maximum is allowed when
booking any *All-Inclusive - EXTRAVAGANZA* room category for travel Apr 22-Dec 23, 2013.
Age Restrictions/Information
Minimum check-in age is 21 years. Anyone younger than 21 must be accompanied by
parent or guardian. A deposit of $50 per night will be required for incidentals.
This amount will be put on hold on the credit card of the guest and will be
refunded if no damages to the room or facilities occur. The resort reserves the
right to remove any guests from its premises if their behavior affects the
vacation experience of the other guests.
Roll Away Bed Fee
Effective immediately, a daily fee of US$12.00 (taxes included) per day will be added for guests requesting a roll away bed in their room upon arrival.
