  Best Waiter Ever!

  Cesar at The Market Cafe for breakfast and lunch is the best waiter we have ever had! He was tremendous and we are so happy to have met him and received his service!

  Happy honeymoon

  I visited this resort in May 15-19. This resort has a great ocean view and various programs. (ex, aquarobic, dance party at Piano bar) And the staff at this resort are all pleasant and friendly. Especially, Mr Norberto, who works in Olio bar, is the most impressive employee to me. He wasn't just serving alcohol to guest as a bartender, he informed Mexico's diverse cultures. I learned a lot about tequila from him, and I learned Spanish! My amigo, I missed you!! Cancun is like heaven, and I really want to visit again. If I go to Cancun again, I want to stay at this resort again.   Highly recommend!

  I just returned from a girls trip to celebrate a friend's retirement. There were six ladies in total. Mauricio, our concierge, helped make check-in a breeze and even upgraded our rooms as we are Hyatt Globalists. We were welcomed with a retirement card and snacks and he was easily reachable the entire week. Cristina in housekeeping also made sure our room was kept neat and clean with the bar well-stocked. We loved our location on the 23rd floor with quick access to the preferred lounge on the 21st floor. We primarily spent our time at the preferred pool on the 12th floor. There we were spoiled with treatment from bartenders Alberto and Arturo and towel/chair person, Benjamin. Our meals were delicious! We learned quickly that the Market Cafe was the place to go for breakfast. (We tried Olio for breakfast the first day, but weren't super impressed.) The breakfast buffet at Market Cafe included so many delicious fruits and about any other breakfast or Mexican food you can imagine! Samara is an omelet pro and was amazing to watch! At Market Cafe, we had great service from all of our servers (Humberto, Abigail, and Angel) and the manager José was top notch! In my opinion, the Italian restaurant (risotto...yum!) and the steakhouse (Bluewater Grill) were the best. We had particularly good service from Abidiel and Manuel, as well as the bartender, but I didn't catch his name! We did eat at the private dining near Sea Salt grill one night, buying a bottle of wine for the upgrade. In our opinion, the location was stellar, but the food was not as impressive. We also enjoyed the Mexican night--do not miss this!--and again paid an additional "bottle of wine fee" for a close seat. We were entertained the whole time and the food was INCREDIBLE, although the upgraded seats were not worth the wine cost. I can't speak to the quality of the spa, but I will mention that I went across the street (a one minute walk) to the Bamboo Spa and it was incredible. Ask for Fernando! Last, but not least, I have to mention the entertainment. While there weren't a ton of activities, the ones that they offered seemed to be of good quality. Aisha (our favorite employee of the trip) made sure everyone had a blast at bracelet making, aquaerobics, and Casino Night. Do NOT miss Casino Night! This was a super fun way to end our trip. I'm so glad that we decided to spend our week at Secrets the Vine!

  Was excited to come, but left pretty disappointed

  I honestly rounded up, as this is at best a 2.5 rating for a 5 star hotel. Upon entrance, the hotel smelled like a fragrance masking a moldy scent. The balcony area outside of the room lacked privacy; there was no concrete wall divider between each room. Housekeeping used our same linens each night - we know because the same stain was on our comforter and bed sheets. The restaurant wait times were long for dinner (Sea Salt restaurant). The cups/glasses used to serve drinks were often times dirty and cracked/chipped. The onsite souvenir shop/store was inconsistent with payment methods - one day I charged everything to the room and the next day they told me that they do not take room charges because the hotel is separate from the store. The day time entertainment should have more pool activities (pool parties, volleyball games, karaoke, etc.). Probably should update the hotel, as the building was a bit old and so were the computer systems used. The staff were amazing - shout out to Jared (concierge)!

  Giving it 4, more like 3.5. Rooms: We had an ocean view room. It was decently appointed, had no issue with temperature or anything not working. The decor is fine, but starting to become dated and the furniture had a bit of wear on it. Beach: Conditions vary literally by the hour during seaweed season. It's the beautiful blue Cancun water, but seaweed does come in waves from April to October. You can almost always find a spot to go in, but there are some big waves. It is not a lake type stillness at all. Food: A really mixed bag. Dragons Asian restaurant was very good. The Italian was legitimately bad. Market Cafe buffets were definitely good and the Mexican restaurant was getting good feedback from everyone we talked to. The Sea Salt grill needs a new chef or at least some new recipes. Ironically, all their food was under salted and bland. We went to Secrets Maroma in December and their food was much better. Service: Props to Norma at the pool. She took care of us every day and we wanted for nothing. Overall the service was very good. Housekeeping was excellent. Layout/Resort condition: The layout is very good and it's easy to find everything. The resort is probably in need of a light remodel. You can see noticeable wear and tear in the fixtures and furniture throughout the resort. It doesn't appear to be a lack of attention by the management or anything, just things aging out. Other notes: Everyone we spoke to who opted for the preferred club rooms regretted it. The pool is hot and boring, the additional amenities were not worth the price. Spa prices are really high. We went off resort for massages. There's a spa/salon across the street, plus a convenience and drug store. Everything there is so much cheaper and literally 30 seconds from the front door. We enjoyed our stay, but we've stayed at better adults only resorts in the area, including a few Secrets. This place has a lot of potential though, if they did a light remodel and improved the dining a bit.
