Not Convenient and Not for Us
We just left The Somerset. As you can see I do not review places often but felt some things needed to shared. Yes the staff is warm & friendly. Yes the villas are spacious. But if you are looking for convenience, this resort is not it. There is no room service, no hot tub, no espresso machine on property, hard to get a taxi, limited beach service, the pool restaurant closes at 6, no actual building for the kids club that they rave about… We went 3 days buying expensive bottled water at the pool restaurant before we realized you could get cold water from the pool or beach attendants. This is an example of the poor communication throughout. No one told us the restaurant was closed our first night. No one told us how to use the TVs in the villa or that the kids room had electric blackout shades and how to use them. No one told us most of the shops in Regent Village are closed on Sundays. I was told there was only yoga on Tuesdays but then found out after the fact it’s also on Thursdays. It was also very difficult to get chairs at the pool. I brought my 5 year old down at 9:30am to swim and all the chairs by the front pool were “claimed” yet no one was in them. Some of them didn’t come down till lunch. Incredibly rude and the staff should have intervened. We booked The Somerset during their Black Friday sale but as the trip was approaching, realized there were 2 beds booking for less per night so I reached out and asked for a complimentary upgrade. They happily obliged yet when we finally got the keys to our villa, it was obvious this is a villa they do not typically book. Yes it was clean but it was very run down with a roach problem. They moved us to a different 2 bed on a higher floor and that’s when I realized we received a faux upgrade. I found this property through an influencer whose family is obviously prioritized when they are here. While I still believe it is a nice resort, it was absolutely not for us and I do feel like we were duped by her and her instagram posts. It was obvious while we were here that returning families are prioritized by the staff.

Perfect Family Vacation
We just returned from a perfect week at The Somerset on Grace Bay. Our family of 24 took over three floors of the Dundee building. Our adventure first began with Stevonya and the rest of the reservation team with lots of questions about accommodations and kitchen items in the units. Each question was thoroughly and patiently answered. Upon arrival you are greeted with cold towels and a refreshing beverage. While you are enjoying this your luggage is off to your unit. The units were each perfect in appearance and functionality. Once settled in the pools were just steps away. We had several kids with us ranging from 1 to 5. The easy entry pool was perfect for kids of all heights. The beach was just a hop, skip, and a jump away which made it easy for the young ones to transition from beach to pool several times a day. The guys in the pool / beach area could not have been more friendly or accommodating. The same is true of the dining staff that serves you either poolside or on the beach. This was my second visit to The Somerset and I am already planning our next stay in my mind.

Absolute Paradise 🏖☀️⛵️
The Somerset continues to shine. This was our 5th trip to the Somerset and it continues to exceed our expectations! Stevonya and Tanya made sure we were assigned the perfect room. The front desk staff welcomes us back with open arms, and I’m not kidding when I say that. We love to be greeted by the same smiling faces year after year. Beverly, Berry, Billy, Foster, Leraud, JanCarlos, and Jahnson now all seem like family. They were continuously checking in, offering assistance, and arranging transportation! We were greeted with refreshing cool towels, rum punch, and our vacation began. This was our first tip in May and it will not be our last! The weather was perfect and the beach was quieter than the previous summer months when we visited. A shout out to AJ and Collin at the pool ,as well as Mr. Big for the excellent service and yummy drinks. There was another bartender/server that was outstanding but I did not get his name. There were always clean towels, sunscreen, and water available. Guests could use floats, paddle boards, kayaks, or sailboats if inclined. The lounge chairs are plentiful both at the pool and the beach, and they are so comfortable. The food at the pool is very good, and breakfast was included with our room rate. I personally love the crystal clear water and the beach. The beach staff was attentive and supplied us with water, towels, and a few times a mid-day refreshing cool treat! I recommend the Monday night managers cocktail reception. It’s a nice event, you can visit with other guest, and make new friends. We did not attend the Tuesday night BBQ but we have in the past and enjoyed it immensely. We had arrived on a Tuesday and it was going on during our first night. We enjoyed listening to the deejay from our patio and we could see everyone was having a great time. The rooms all seem to have wonderful views of the beautiful pools and/or beach. We have always been assigned the Sterling House rooms. Our room this year, as in the past, was perfection! Thank you Jamesiline for keeping it spotless daily. The rooms are spacious and well air conditioned. I wish I could stay for months at a time. I should also mention that there are bike you can use to ride to town or take to other restaurants. We always enjoy our bike adventures. Visiting Turks and Caicos is truly the most relaxing vacation I can think of. The Somerset has once again provided my family with a memorable week of sun, sand, and superb accommodations! I will count the days until we can return! Thank you everyone for your outstanding hospitality!

We won’t be back - but an “influencer” probably will!
We just got back from a week at The Somerset. Our first family vacation post pandemic and celebrating my mother’s 65th. There was an “influencer” staying at the hotel during our visit aka someone with 200,000 plus Instagram followers. The hotel staff were clearly advised to focus on favoring this family. They were given preference of chairs around the pool area daily, the best hotel rooms, and the hotel would just share their Instagram posts as they were made. The hotel neglected care of others staying at the hotel including my family. We had young children and were unable to get any lounge chairs by the pool area, even with our group waking at 6am to try and reserve daily. They could have added more chairs to the pool and even chose not to. Our last day we were able to secure some chairs - just to have this family come to the pool and loudly raise their voices at us to relocate. Needless to say, don’t believe everything influencers post. And, we won’t be back…
