Nice little getaway

Service was excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall resort size was smaller than expected but it has everything you would need from an all inclusive. 24 hour room service was amazing. Temperatures on the food from restaurants and room service could have been more hot. Locations of the resort works extremely well with excursions, transfers, and share amenities with neighboring resorts.

Great January getaway!

This year we decided on Secrets Aura Cozumel instead of Sunscape Cozumel where we vacationed last year in early January. We were very pleased with the more sophisticated "Adults Only" format at this club. We booked a junior swim up suite for just slightly more than std room and it was great, addtionally these rooms seem newer and cleaner than our room at Sunscape. We thought the suite would be near the beach but it was actually at the rear of the property with a separate pool and bar area, much quieter and more private and those near the beach were another $100 per night, so we did not upgrade. Similar to Sunscape, with some shared restaurants, those at Secrets were better designed and appointed, and the menus read well but lost some in the execution. Bordeaux, Windows, and Gohan (Sushi concept) were very well designed but the Sushi concept offered the best quality and variety. Many prepared dishes at the above and buffet restaurants tend to be salty and overcooked. The buffet location (Market) was great for breakfast and lunch. Our best meals were at Gohan and The Patio (Mexican concept at Sunscape) Across the board, the staff at Secrets and Sunscape are great! Courteous and professional and the facillity is very well maintained and clean. We really did not participate in any club activities as we concentrated on Scuba Diving with a company at Iberostar. As for our comments last year both of these clubs should coop to create a manmade snorkeling " reef" just offshore as the snorkeling from shore is very poor. Some guests tend to overindulge and be more raucous, not as much as Sunscapre, but most were laid back and considerate of others... Overall, and for the money this is a great club and with a few improvements could be excellent, not Club Med but for the money a wonderful getaway...!

Better than average overall

We were in preferred section. the room was modern and cleaning service was great. the beach was very rocky and water was not as pretty as other beaches. Food choices were limited and flavor was not that great. we stayed for 4 nights and we were tired of food already. It's a small resort so i's just the way it is with small resorts. Since we were in preferred, beach access/chairs/service were great. They were always asking us if we needed anything - drinks/food. Service is very good in general. Except for a few, everyone said hi and greeted you warmly. If you like to so snorkeling or diving, this might be a good place. But we did not. So the beach being rocky and water not being as pretty turned out to be a disappointment.

What's to Love

Newly renovated in 2015-2016, this resort is all shiny, splashy new.

The salvation of the cool towel and thirst-quenching welcome cocktail when arriving in paradise.

The sleek white, boxy architecture (very glam).

Hip suites with comfy beds that have private balconies or terraces and take-your-breath-away views.

Scuba diving at the epic Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and being awed by the fabled coral reefs.

You can take scuba lessons at the Dive House. Sweet.

The candlelight dinner for two on the beach while the purr of the waves serenades you.

Secrets box for private room service delivery - you don't ever have to see a human if you don't want to.

Snorkeling under the dock that boasts stingrays and parrot fish. (One beach lover even saw a barracuda).

The world-class spa with Seaweed Wraps, invigorating hydrotherapy and exotic indigenous treatments. Swoon.

A pier to wander out on and get hypnotized by the point where the blue water meets the azure horizon.

What We'd Change

Cozumel doesn't have as many activities as Cancun. After all, it is an island. But Secrets always has a lot of adult-only activities to keep you entertained.

Why You Should Go

You're just 20 minutes away from the airport so your rockin' vacay will start before you know it.

You're just 15 minutes away from downtown Cozumel. Just a $15 (U.S. dollars) to cab it there.

You can upgrade to Preferred Club which means better rooms, private swimming pool, and much more.

The mysteriously cool Chicen Itza and Coba Ruins are a short hop away. (Ooo-ahhh).

Lit tennis courts. Woot!

You can improve your game on an 18-hole golf course designed by the great Jack Nicklaus.

The largest beachfront in Cozumel is out back.

You can try you hand at kayaking, Hobie cats and water volleyball - don't be shy. Dive in!

Bring your aqua shoes - the beach is like finely ground seashells.

Most restaurants require men to wear long pants and no flip flops.

Probably no going shirtless or tank tops, unless you're a male Abercrombie model.
