Secrets - Cozumel

Did not met expectations at all. Rooms were less than comfortable, air conditioning was sub standard - food was mediocre at best. Overall experience was poor. Room on 4th floor and no elevator... Poorly lit. The people were nice and friendly but that only gets you so far. The location has past its prime in my humble opinion. Upon arrival at airport - it was less than organized to locate prepaid ride. Again nice people but that only covers you so far....

Great Experience

This was my 2nd time staying at Secrets, the first time was from an upgrade from the family friendly Sunscape Sabor to the neighboring Secrets. There are too many dining options between the 2 resorts you have access to to hit them all enough. There is nothing the staff won't do to make your stay comfortable, memorable, and fun. I will be booking this resort again in the future and ensuring I bring friends with me.

Just go to Dominican Republic

We just got back from secrets Cozumel yesterday. Check in was quick. We got a swim up room. The inside of the room was just ok. No bathtub just a shower that rarely had hot water. The swim up patio area of our room was great with the hammock. We were starving so we headed to the lunch buffet only to discover it was closed for remodel. We went to the windows restaurant and waited an HOUR for some pasta. The beach was really rocky when you enter the water. My husband wasn't happy about that but it makes for better snorkeling so I had no issues with the rocks. There was great snorkeling under the dock. They gave us coupons for the romantic dinner and spa but it still left the price of them 3x what I pay in Oklahoma. Housekeeping did a good job and restocked our mini fridge daily. We walked over to the sister resort and ate at the Italian restaurant. It was edible but not great. The best meal we had was the Mexican restaurant and the sister resort. However one night we went there they said it would be a 20 minute wait and there was hardly anybody in the restaurant. The food and rooms were definitely a disappointment. The buffet at the sister resort was closed too. So it advertises all these restaurants but you are actually very limited. The French restaurant was the next best place besides the Mexican restaurant. Unless you are standing at the bar you will not get a beer or drink for at least 30min so that was very annoying. The bartenders did good but the servers were either understaffed or very slow. The staff was all very nice. At all the other all-inclusive resorts I've ever been to they have nightly entertainment shows. This resort did not have that. Basically it was very quiet at night at this resort. No casino either. I have went to multiple all inclusive resorts in riviera maya and this resort was the worst I have been to. We did a snorkeling excursion and that was probably the highlight of the trip. It was probably a 3 out of 5 stars resort. It wasn't a horrible resort but definitely won't ever go back. Third time in Mexico and will probably be my last. I enjoyed the Dominican Republic much more.

Rocky Beach

The resort was very nice, but did fail in the small details. The a la cart restaurants were very nice, the buffet was not so much. My husband and I had a private dinner on the beach...which was fantastic! We booked the anniversary package but did not receive half the items we were supposed to. The attached resort was fun to visit! Always had fun music and the bartenders were just as great. The one thing I did not read up on was the beach...completely rocky and VERY difficult to walk in the water. If you are a snorkeler or diver, this is a great location. The nightly entertainment was really nice! Our overall experience was good, but working in the hotel industry...there were some disappointments.

What's to Love

Newly renovated in 2015-2016, this resort is all shiny, splashy new.

The salvation of the cool towel and thirst-quenching welcome cocktail when arriving in paradise.

The sleek white, boxy architecture (very glam).

Hip suites with comfy beds that have private balconies or terraces and take-your-breath-away views.

Scuba diving at the epic Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and being awed by the fabled coral reefs.

You can take scuba lessons at the Dive House. Sweet.

The candlelight dinner for two on the beach while the purr of the waves serenades you.

Secrets box for private room service delivery - you don't ever have to see a human if you don't want to.

Snorkeling under the dock that boasts stingrays and parrot fish. (One beach lover even saw a barracuda).

The world-class spa with Seaweed Wraps, invigorating hydrotherapy and exotic indigenous treatments. Swoon.

A pier to wander out on and get hypnotized by the point where the blue water meets the azure horizon.

What We'd Change

Cozumel doesn't have as many activities as Cancun. After all, it is an island. But Secrets always has a lot of adult-only activities to keep you entertained.

Why You Should Go

You're just 20 minutes away from the airport so your rockin' vacay will start before you know it.

You're just 15 minutes away from downtown Cozumel. Just a $15 (U.S. dollars) to cab it there.

You can upgrade to Preferred Club which means better rooms, private swimming pool, and much more.

The mysteriously cool Chicen Itza and Coba Ruins are a short hop away. (Ooo-ahhh).

Lit tennis courts. Woot!

You can improve your game on an 18-hole golf course designed by the great Jack Nicklaus.

The largest beachfront in Cozumel is out back.

You can try you hand at kayaking, Hobie cats and water volleyball - don't be shy. Dive in!

Bring your aqua shoes - the beach is like finely ground seashells.

Most restaurants require men to wear long pants and no flip flops.

Probably no going shirtless or tank tops, unless you're a male Abercrombie model.
