Total Relaxation!!
Ocean Royale was a wonderful get away for the money..
The staff was extremely friendly and the rooms were very clean..The restaurnts were adequte The property was so well kept.. i would recommend and definately plan on a return trip.. Ocean Maya Royale.. PS..no kids was a bonus!!
We loved our trip the ocean maya wonderful the staff never stopped working, They were friendly outgoing and always had a smile. Food in the buff was OK always found something to eat. The restaurants were wonderful and the Japanese was by are the BEST. There was always something to do we spent most of our time in the pool with the swim up bar, the drinks were great and the entertainment staff never stopped we had many a good laugh. We meet a lot of great people i could go on and on about this place we would go back anytime..Oh i should say the grounds were breathtaking....
P.S.. Cheap Caribbean offers a around trip to and from the airport this was wonderful and so was booking with them they were so helpful next trip is in the works and will be coming back to book here again

It was a very interesting trip because whenever I told someone we were travelling to Mexico, the popular response was "well, be careful!"
During the entire trip, we never felt unsafe and the locals and all hotel employees couldn't have been kinder. Interestingly, when I purchased a bracelet from a local vendor, I explained that I needed to get my money from my hotel room first....he insisted that I wear the bracelet anyway, and he would meet me later to collect his money. He trusted that I would return as agreed, which of course, I did.
Just refreshing to experience such innocence in a time where people expect the worst.
Ocean Maya was a beautiful hotel---the landscaping and nature that it sheltered (lemurs, iguanas, and raccoons, oh, my!) made the trip truly remarkable!

Overall the Ocean Maya was a great value; we definitely got more than we paid for. The staff was incredibly friendly. We actually met someone our first day there, just told him our names (didn't sign anything that he could look back on), and 4 days later he came up to us and referred to us by name. The staff greeted you anytime they saw you, even the ones not specifically in customer service. The room was nice. It came with a king size bed and a flat screen, and I really don't have any complaints about the look. There were a few things that weren't perfect. Several times during the trip it smelled like the septic tank was backing up. It didn't last long when it started smelling, but it was kind of rough. The beach left a little to be desired. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't phenomenal. They took a bus into Playa del Camen once a day, but it was only for a few hours and there weren't any additional times available, so you'd have to take a taxi if you wanted to be there any longer than 5 hours. Overall, I can't really complain. We paid a great price for a resort we normally couldn't afford. It was a very good experience and I'd definitely suggest it to friends looking for vacation destinations.

Don't quote me but I think they said $40/day. We got the upgraded room for free because they had availability when we asked at check-in.
BTW- All the specialty restaurants are normally first-come first-served so there was no problem with reservations.

They charge 20 per person per day but that gives you access to just the Privilege past of the beach and a sectioned off part of the rest. I didn't think it was really worth it but that was my opinion.

At Ocean Maya, you will not meet other single people in your age group easily. When I was there there were a few singles in their early 20s, but everyone else was paired off.

Hi CJ,
The Ocean Maya Royale has a total of 320 rooms. The La Dolce Vita restaurant which was closed in May due to a fire is still serving the Italian menu but in a different location within the resort.

These are specific questions regarding the ocean maya royal resort.
Some reviews say there is NO swim up bar, while others say there is... what's the big idea (Jerry Seinfeld voice). Is there a swim up bar? Another question... is it true that some food items cost extra money? I thought it was all inclusive. Also, does anyone know how late they serve alcohol? My girlfriend and I are 25 years old, we both graduated from UW-Madison... so we like to party. Also, do they have good nightime activities, like bands or DJ's? If so, how late?

This resort does have a swim up bar in one of the pools. All the meals and drinks are included in the all inclusive package. Food and room service is available 24/7, and alcohol is served 8AM to 2:30AM . There are many daily activities offered. Live music is offered in the lobby from 8PM, a live show at 9:30 and the disco is open until 2:30AM.

They do have a swim up bar - with 6 chairs but no bartender. You have to go around to the front and take it back in with you. We didn't have to pay extra for anything except if we went into the hotel store. The pool bar closed early - by the time it got dark and i think the hotel bar was still open at midnight when we walked through but not sure how late they were open. The only nighttime activity we saw was a sax player - he was very good and they have a theatre that had "broadway" shows but they weren't that good.
