  Amazing stay at Ocean Maya Royale

  We had an excellent stay at the Ocean Maya Royale! The beach is beautiful, the food is great, and the staff are so kind and friendly. I loved doing aquarobics and bracelet making with Viri and Gustavo. I would definitely recommend this resort for anyone looking to relax and have fun doing different activities. The foam party and silent disco were also highlights of the trip!

  Fun and very exciting resort with lots of great activities to enjoy. I had an amazing time and especially loved meeting Viri, who was incredibly sweet and made the experience even more memorable!

  Honest review

  We stayed here from the 8th Dec to 19th Dec (10 nights) for our first trip to Mexico. We had a good time overall however we wouldn’t come back to this hotel. The good The coffee shop is the highlight of this trip, really good coffee, good breakfast selection of treats - cakes, donuts, yoghurt, fruit - which then changed for dinner to sandwiches, bagels and other snacks. Consistently good and reflected in tips given . The moon restaurant (French) nice soup starter, good steak fillet and lovely desert. Again another place consistently good. (Fortunately went here 3 evenings) the service in here was great too. The Japanese’s restaurant - when we finally got in -excellent. Nice show and friendly chef. Negatives to talk on later. The staff. Almost all the staff were lovely and provided a great service. The mini bar, I liked how this was stocked up daily from what we used the night before. Albeit small so couldn’t really have a lot in there. Room service could be ordered free of charge up to 11pm. Not sure on the quality of the food as we didn’t use this service. Landscape of the hotel was lovely, small hotel and could do with maintenance but overall had a good impact on our stay. The bad The privilege separation. The hotel has a real feel of divide due to the upgrade to privilege. This means that certain guests had better selection of drinks, reservation ease (All the restaurants saved tables for them guests,meaning long waits or no availability for other guests) and better sunbed selection, which the pool staff would focus their attention on. I understand that they paid more for them services however they were treated differently due to their wristbands. Pool bars - the smaller pool with the swim up bar had great service and great drinks however we stayed round the quieter, larger pool where the drink service was hit and miss. The drinks were not consistent, one bad, one good etc and the bar man didn’t seem happy the majority of the time. Mexican restaurant. Surprisingly bland, went here twice at dinner and once in the evening to give it the benefit of the doubt, however didn’t enjoy our meals there. Buffet. Signage was terrible, missing labels or incorrect labelling. Like the fruit being labelled chicken (random example) food mediocre. Would dread having to eat in here. Water is always tap so wouldn’t advise drinking it. Japanese restaurant. Highlighted above for the excellent food but was a farce to get into. Tried getting into here 3 times before our successful attempt. Told to turn up at 5:45pm, got there around 5:40pm to be greeted to a que of people that had been turning up since 5:15 to get in! If you were privileged, you could book online without doing this. Feels like you always had an unfair advantage. Italian. It was freezing in here due to being open near the sea. Would recommend bringing warmer clothes if eating here. It was hard to get into with an hour wait. Again, annoying as there were empty tables saved for privilege guests, which had to be saved in case they turned up. Our room was okay, out of the way which we liked. Our Air-con was on and off, one night our toilet wouldn’t flush and had no water, and we only had hot water certain times of the day ,often cold showers after 7pm till 6am. We did have a good time, not doubting the relaxing break however feel like there needs to be more reviews explaining other experiences

  Staff were awesome accomodated room change for us once available. Gabriella reserved a beach front dinner for us to celebrate our anniversary.

  A must resort to visit.

  Edith at the Sports Bar is the BEST!! Funny, efficient, a real sweetheart and a great addition to the staff. A good experience at a fine resort. The amenities are great and the buffet is awesome.
