What We Love
- The resort sits on a gorgeous stretch of beach. Since the waves are calm, it's an easy area to swim in.
Things to Know
- The resort is a fantastic home base for exploring the natural wonders of Puerto Rico, like the nearby El Yunque tropical rainforest and Fajardo's bioluminescent bay.
The Ocean Course, designed by Tom and George Fazio, is sheer panorama. Aptly named for its spectacular ocean views, this course features multiple bunkers, elevated greens and four sets of tees. A favorite among guests, mostly for the iguanas and the signature 16th hole.
While the Fazios took a liking to the trade winds, Greg Norman's first-ever Caribbean design, the River Course, is 6,945 yards of rolling green along the Mamayes River. Norman took care to preserve the native foliage of this challenging course, embraced by mountain vistas and seashores, and to allow the natural terrain to determine the placement of all holes. Rumor has it that every hole is a signature hole here.
Non-golfers aren't forgotten, thanks to one mile of gorgeous beach with lots of fun activities, two stunning pools, one for adults and one for families and a 20,000-sq. ft. sun deck. And if your putter fails you, perhaps Lady Luck is waiting to smile on you at the casino. Or maybe a session at the spa will help you unwind over that last drive?
As nighttime approaches, stash the clubs and return to the resort to observe the legendary bioluminescent bay of nearby Fajardo, where microorganisms create a mysterious blue-green light that illuminates the calm waters. After a dinner of sushi and Thai
delights at Shimas Sushi Bar, retreat to 400-sq. ft., Ocean View Room. Snuggle into the king-sized bed to dream of the birdies or a hole in one!

We had such a great time. There are several restaurants onsite and even though resort prices, the food was really good everywhere. First great experience with Edgar at five o’clock bar. Not our server, but welcomed us asked our plans for our stay and kept checking on us. Every morning we were greeted at breakfast by Omar with buenos Dias good morning how are you. Really excellent service and the property is very clean and pretty. Gotta say, PR is a great place to visit and people are so friendly. Will definitely try to get back!!
excellent and friendly service
It was my second trip to the resort. It had everything we needed, plus a beautiful long beach. There were plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Food and drinks were served on the beach. There were enough restaurant and bar options. There was availability of tour options right at the hotel.
The most beautiful resort I have stayed at.
This resort is great for adults traveling without children as well as for families. It is clean, BEAUTIFUL, the beach is awesome and secluded. You will not be disappointed. There is, however, not a lot of night life for yourger adults. For that, you need to drive 45 minutes to the San Juan area.
We just returned from a 6 night stay. The hotel and property was nice and well maintained. We were told it was the busiest time of the year, but the resort was very empty because of the coronavirus. It worked to our benefit because the pools weren't crowded and there were no waits at the restaurants. We were pleased with all of the restaurants and bars and their staff that we tried, The 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar (Rolando, Mary, Alex), Tiki Bar (Bianca, Brenda, Raymond), Root's Coastal Kitchen (Brandon), Palio Steakhouse (Juan), Cacai (Lobby) Bar (Angelo), Barista Cafe for morning coffee bagle or muffin. Room Service as great too! The pizza from Root's was my favorite! The steaks from Palio were amazing! We didn't know about Iguanas until we were leaving or we would've tried that too. You can pay at each location or charge to the room. But be careful...it does add up! I do wish they provided coffee makers in the rooms and not espresso machines! We took a taxi from the airport, about a 30 minute ride. I reserved a rental car from Enterprise before we arrived. They're very conveniently located inside the resort! It was a very easy drive into Old San Juan to spend the day. We parked in a parking garage and walked taking in the sights...Castillo San Felipe Del Morro, Bastion de San Augustin, Castillo San Cristobal and a must see Sav-A-Gato (cat sanctuary)! We also drove to the El Yunque National Rainforest. The hotel provided us with a map with stopping and parking spots. We drove up as far as we could stopping to look at waterfalls, swimming holes and views along the way up and down. A wonderful experience! Hopefully, it won't be raining on our next trip to the Rainforest so we can do some actual hiking! The on-site store was nice. Lots of selections! We went to the Casino 3 times enjoying slots and table games. Overall, everything was great! The hotel was great, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back next year!
We were very pleased with Margarittaville. Loads of room at the pools, wonderful spa, great workers. We will return next year. Recommend renting a car for at least a couple days. Loads of site seeing around very close to resort but you need to use Uber, rent a car or use the site seeing tours.
