Great resort for families
This review is for parents with young kids. There are pluses and minuses. But the pluses outweigh... The resort is perfect for families. My kiddos are 5 1/2 & 8. The beach was great!! We saw turtles, walked to Lava Lava, snorkels, and even saw a manta ray swimming about! They loved the 3 different styles of pools and waterside. I liked that it was compact so we weren't walking all over the place trying to get to things. When we went, the resort was slow (end of January), so I'd bee curious how packed the pool is peak season. I loved that we could walk to both kings and queens shopping areas for cheap food, stock up, and find dining and shave ice. We had a mini fridge, which was great. There is only a community microwave. It was doable but not ideal. There is a BBQ on site but we didn't use it. Great coffee shop on site, too! Incredible Mai Tais! The room: the room is tight with two queens and 4 bodies. Hopefully you aren't in it much anyway, but it's good to note. The wall between the bathroom and bedroom is frosted glass so plan to shower in the dark because as soon as you turn the bathroom light on, the whole hotel room lights up. We made do. But it's good to note since you're sharing a room with kids. There is 1 bath hook and 1 towel rack. These aren't so much complaints as things to plan for with 4 people's towels and swimsuits. Honestly I don't know who thought that was enough hooks at a beach resort in even with just two people hahaha. In the end, as a resort for families who want to be able to walk and see other restaurants, stores, etc., this one beats the others in the area. I hope this helps future families! I would stay here again, but would think of how to make sleeping work easier in this particular hotel's layout/design.

Waikoloa Marriott is not what it was.
Waikoloa Marriott is not what it just to be. As a titanium elite member, my privileges were ignored! No bottled water, no early check-in or late checkout, no upgraded room, and an insulting continental breakfast was half offered instead of a full breakfast that was an option for $16 to get scrambled eggs!! The parking has increased to $40!! In addition to a resort fee of $40!! Airbnb is going to be a better option on my next trip to the big island!!!

Typical Marriott Disappointment
Extremely underwhelming. Like most Marriott properties, this resort gives one the impression that they’ve given up and just don’t care. Absolutely nothing special or memorable—from a service perspective, it’s essentially a Holiday Inn with palm trees. The staff are lazy, slow, disengaged, apathetic, and clearly just punching a time card. Spent half an hour calling room service with no answer, called the front desk to ask for assistance and their solution was to transfer me to room service—which continued to not respond. Food quality is roughly the equivalent of a Denny’s restaurant. Save your money and pass on this one.

Incredible Sunset Views
Booked a pool view room with a lovely view out to the ocean. Sunset views were incredible! The room was most comfortable albeit a bit dated. Pool area and outside gardens are very well manicured and maintained. We were not very impressed with the beach area but with all we had planned outside the resort the pool access was more than enough. Staff throughout the resort were professional and friendly. You definitely need a car to get around but some nice restaurants and shopping within walking distance. We would definitely stay there again.

Amazing resort experience on the Big Island!
If you are planning a trip to Hawai’i (the Island), make sure to stay at least a few days at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort and Spa. What a wonderful stay we had there! It is only 15-20 minutes away from the Kona Intl Airport, surrounded with shopping & restaurants, it is right on the beach. It has three different pools AND hot tubs to enjoy with your family. We had a lot of fun in the slide; my 4 yrs old girl was very happy to be able to enjoy it! Kids need to be 42inches to use it. The staff was very helpful and kind, but I want to recognize George at the pool as he went a few extra miles to make my kids’ experience memorable. He taught my son how to make a bead lei, and made my daughter a very special island Gucci- see picture. My husband and I were very impressed with his skills, but also how he cares for all the kids that come enjoy the pool area. The rooms are sparkly clean and beautiful. We were blessed with an ocean/pools view; just so amazing to admire the view while sipping on a coffee! We will be back. If you’re considering it- book it! You will have an amazing time!
