Things to Know

  • This resort is next door to its sister property and guests are encouraged to dine, shop, and play at both resorts for the ultimate island vacation.
Prepare yourself for some hardcore rest and relaxation, and make your way to this all-inclusive resort, located on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. This 83,000 sq. ft. resort rests on the island's most pristine, white-sand beach facing the verdant islands of Saona and Catalina.

Should diving be your bag, whether you need a beginner's lesson in the pool or were born with gills, grab a four-night, all-inclusive dive package and explore the Dominican Republic, marine-mammal style. You'll find a wonderland beneath the shimmering indigo surf, as well as horse-eye jacks, sea turtles, spotted eagle rays and brain coral. Wreck divers won't be able to resist the St. George, a 240-ft shipwreck resting 135 ft. below the surface of the water.

Land activities more your style? Grab a catamaran and explore the untouched perfection of Saona or Catalina. Or take some all inclusive dance lessons with that special someone. Looking for something unique? Wander over to the hotel's sister resort next door (all restaurants and drinks here a part of your all-inclusive package as well), and take a trapeze lesson. The professional, trapeze-training team offers lessons for adults in the afternoon, while the mornings are reserved for children. And if you think you won't get bragging rights for your newfound skills, a circus-themed show (every Friday) allows you to show off your big-top act to an awestruck public.

While you're basking in all that circus glory, why not do it poolside, lounging in a chair, rum punch in hand? Now that you've worked up a good appetite, visit the La Yuca Buffet for some international cuisine, including grilled local fish, with a side of exotic, fresh fruit.

Sleeping too good this morning to get out of your king-sized bed? Pull back the curtains and gaze out at the surf from your Superior Ocean Front room, while the resort serves you a continental breakfast, room-service style.

a few details should be solved

The place is a paradise. The beach, the pools and the food were great. But we payed for a room with view to the beach and didnt get one. As compensation they gave us a dinner with lobster. That would have been fine, but the room was small and we had to ask for the towels and soaps nearly every day. The high point are in the animation. José in particular was great teaching our kids how to walk on the paddle boards.

    Some unpleasant surprises.

We were given a room on the ground floor like we requested. What a mistake. The maid kept leaving the sliding door unlocked so that anyone walking outside could help themselves to our belongings. They charge $2.00 a day for the room safe. When I reported it to the front desk, they could care less. They have a dehumidifier in the room which is never emptied. There is a foul stench outside the rooms, maybe from all the geese that are allowed to roam the halls and squawk up a storm at all hours of the night. The pool is not accessible to anyone with disabilities. there are metal pool ladders only. NO CONCRETE STEPS AND RAILING. Hot tub is COLD. If it rains the slippery stone walkway could seriously harm you. The snack bar at the pool is a joke with their hot dogs and burgers and soggy fries. The alcoholic drinks were watered down. Too be fair the grounds are kept trimmed and neat. The foods at the buffet were very good.

Beat the Winter Blahs - Enjoy a little summer in your winter! Destination: Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace -La Roman.

The resort is situated in Bayahibe, La Romana just 30 minutes buss drive from La Romana International Airport. After several years, I returned to this wonderful resort and I was impressed of the entirely redesigned lobby. To my surprise, at the lobby bar I was delighted to meet an old friend Raul the barman. No one can forget his friendly smile and his moto “Especial”! In this all-inclusive resort, the atmosphere provides a level of privacy that appeals especially to adult couples. However, families with children are also welcome and are well taken care off! We had a “Garden View, Superior Room” very clean, good size bed. The rooms are maintained daily by the cleaning crew. All standard amenities and daily drinking water are provided. Complimentary Wi-Fi connection is available all around the resort. The food selection for breakfast lunch and supper is good, with restaurant reservation available as well. We eat mostly at Rest. La Yuca (buffet) which had a good assortment to our liking. My “sweet tooth” was delighted with the selection of sweets available, especially the home-made ice cream. The grounds are well maintained, and all is green - immaculate! The staff providing service at the tables are helpful, polite and attend to you as required. Basically, we found the staff at this resort having a pleasant professional attitude, making sure that you are welcomed and having a great time. The most important time of our vacation was the accessibility to the immaculate white-sand beach, the ocean views looking out over the brilliant waters of the Caribbean Sea, and then enjoying a swim. Life can not be better! Each evening at the lobby bar, has live music, and of couple of time we danced to it. There are also daily shows given by the artistic crew. We preferred evening walks from “Dominicus Place” to the shopping center a nice 15 minutes walk. You don’t get bored at this resort! There are lots of activities available, including water sports, fitness programs etc. We have enjoyed the morning exercises at the pool site conducted by a dynamic team. The selected music that accompanied the exercises was great. In addition, we appreciated all the selection of Dominican music that played daily at the pool site! The staff at the beach bar are all great. In addition to drinks, snacks and light lunch is also available. All in all, we had a great time. Thank you “Viva Wydham Dominicus Place” for an unforgettable 12 days of vacation. This is "Au Revoir, not Goodbye”.

Wonderful winter holiday to my new favourite place

This was a last minute trip idea for a New Years getaway. Everything about this this was great, well with a few exceptions. Arrival at the resort was seamless, fast friendly. We arrived late and just wanted food and a drink, all of which we had quickly. We stayed a week at the resort and had access to the adjoining sister resort, which appeared to be a little higher end. The food, beach, staff and grounds were all great. The pools were ok, no swim up bar, and the nightly entertainment was lacking, but I wasn't really there for that. We tried many of the a la carte restaurants and they were all good, the all night pizza kitchen was am unexpected find. My only criticism would be the room. we were initially put in one next to a busy street that ran though the little town next to the resort. It was noisy da and night and offered no view. WE were able to change rooms to a garden view that had the bonus of geese and ducks who entertained us. Overall a great holiday and I would return and recommend this resort.
