Overall great! But the food at the buffet is either a hit or a miss! Not all specialty restaurants are good.

Fabulous location but food is dangerous.
This hotel has a fantastic location…. the beach, views, pretty maintained gardens are absolutely fabulous and are a credit to Wyndham. For this I would issue 5 stars, but unfortunately the rooms, food, hygiene and staff attitude brings it down to only 3 star. We stayed two weeks all inclusive in Palace hotel, room 5821 with a fabulous sea view. Our room was basic, but what was there worked especially the shower. (You will need to take basics like a clothes line, kettle, clock) There are three double sockets but you can only use one of each double as our plugs are too big to use both sockets. So take a small extension lead or multi socket. Our room was cleaned everyday by Marie who was lovely. No wifi in any room or public ares, but amazingly good on the beach or the swimming pools! Entertainment …. Varied and to out taste at the the Palace and the sister hotel, Beach ( 5 min walk) The viva entertainers all work hard and with a smile on their faces. Loved the fact that in the evening they got travellers up and dancing and in some cases showed people how to do the dances. I applaud them all👏👏👏👏 Pools are noisy at both hotels but there is a lovely quiet one in between the Palace and the Beach, which suited us. Pool towels available and clean…can change them everyday if you wanted. Downside for non swimmers though ….we didn’t observe any life savers at any of the pools or beach during our stay. Lots to love in this resort but it does need a few tweaks , and one serious problem, to make this resort absolutely fabulous all round: Staffing…. We downloaded a Spanish app to overcome the language barrier . ( This is a Spanish island but predominantly Italian resort!) . We made a determined effort after reading the reviews about staff not liking the English, to communicate in Spanish to them. This did break down the barriers and our attempts did make the staff laugh, however we had to work hard at this everyday. The staff on Reception, and guest relations, viva entertainers were generally very welcoming and had smiles on their faces. Staff in the buffets and eateries around the pools were down right miserable and it was hard work to get service. More staff training is required here please. Seating in public areas: Not enough seating which is of a suitable height for people over 50 to sit on which is comfortable and you can get up from without having to have someone to pull you up! I spent the two weeks sitting on the chairs in the guest relations section, which was too far from the entertainment. Also the current seating is badly stained and needs replacing with an easy to clean material. Above are the tweeks….now the serious issue Food …hygiene , variety, staffing and quality We are used to buffets around the world and the buffet at the Palace is one of the worst we have visited. Even from the first day, we couldn’t find anything to suit our pallets! On the same day, we couldn’t find a clean table, with serviettes , cutlery and glasses. ( in the end I ended up taking my own cutlery to each meal) ; Hot food was cold unless it was cooked in front of you , and cold food was warm. Children were touching food and not taking what they touch, shortage of serving cutlery despite this being pointed out. Food served in the corridor where you enter the restaurant. I will stop here . Thank goodness a two week stay allows you to use the fine dining restaurants where the food is good and hot. ( Make sure you download the app when you arrive to book restaurants) The buffet at the Beach was a little better but still a long cry was being good. After suffering with stomach upsets during the first and second week, we decided to not take ice, have any salads and any fruit, and just lived on chips from the eateries around the pool. The last full day my partner was confined to our room as he was so ill and couldnt keep any food down. We have now been home a week and we still have stomach upsets and awaiting doctor appointments for antibiotics. During our stay we befriended a Norwegian family of four. The parents were doctors, and all of them were ill for their two weeks! So sorry Viva , despite your lovely location, we won’t be returning. We value our health too much. I have never written a review as bad as this before but decided to let it out there as there are many people of our age, with European stomachs that might not bounce back from tummy bugs like the ones we had and still have. Viva, I reported our concerns to both Tui rep and Guest Relations before we left. Please address the issues.
