Resort is dated but clean. Food is mediocre. Obnoxious families might ruin meals for you.

This older resort is slated for replacement in 2027. Nonetheless, our room, #3632, was comfortable and spotless, as was the rest of the resort. Every single encounter with staff was pleasant, though at check in our clerk did not recognize that we had already paid for all-inclusive until we pointed it out to him. Other Pros: beautiful beach, just a short cab ride to malecon, zona romantica. You can walk along the beach to the Quales River and go to the flea market. Great palapas and loungers right on the beach. Cons: Large American Families were loud, obnoxious and unkind. Lots of F bombs shouted across the table at dinner by teens even with their parents and grandparents present. This was at the Mexican Restaurant on 12/22. This resort is loud in the evening in general so if you like to go to sleep before 9:30 you will need earplugs. I don’t know what you would do if you wanted to put young kids to bed. Food is not as good as at the Villa del Palmar Loreto, where the shrimp cocktails have huge fresh shrimp. At this resort, I ordered a shrimp cocktail which I’m pretty sure was made of shrimp that had been frozen, and it was limp and entirely tasteless. The Christmas Eve buffet food was mediocre. Plus, there was not seating appropriate for couples at the buffet. We would not have minded sitting with others, but wandered the entire area and could not find a place. A very sweet young employee tried to help us by finding a table that had two places available, but the open places did not have chairs because Americans at the table next to it had taken the chairs that belonged to those two places. Mind you, there were three people at their table which had about 7 open spaces because they were saving them for family members that were not present. They would not give the two chairs up. In the spirit of Christmas it would have been kind if they had asked us to sit with them at least until their absent family members arrived. We actually ended up carrying our plates of food up to our room. Anyway, three of the specialty restaurants were closed to create the “special” buffet so other than eating at the Mexican restaurant which we’d already been to, the buffet was our only choice. All in all, I would recommend this resort but go with the expectation that the food is not going to be great, and I would also recommend going at a time when insensitive large families are gong to be there (in other words not during the holidays or spring break).

Nice resort but DO NOT BOOK VIA THE CALL CENTRE

First, I would like to say that the property is very nice and well maintained. The location is fantastic and walkable to many places. However, as a travel agent, I was shocked by the dishonesty I experienced. They don’t bother replying to your emails when you have a complaint post vacation, hoping you will just give up and let it go. When I booked the resort directly with Viviani at the call center with vLevel, I was told there was a $130 USD resort credit that could be used anywhere on the property during our 10-night stay along with free breakfast. We were careful not to exceed that amount and requested printouts of our balance almost daily. Upon checkout, I was asked to provide my credit card to pay $1,237.09 MXN. The total amount we spent should have been fully covered by the credit. I was then told by the front desk that the resort credit did not apply to room service or some drinks/tips by the pool. I would also like to mention that we spent an additional $300+ US on drink passes during our stay, which we paid for directly in cash, so it is not as though we did not spend money at the resort. Another issue is that we decided to leave two days early. We asked the checkout desk five days prior—and every day after—whether we would receive a refund for the unused nights. Each time, we were told yes, and that if we checked out before 11 a.m. on Monday, we would receive $285 USD back. I asked multiple times to confirm and was assured by everyone, including the supervisor, that this would not be a problem. However, on the day of checkout, the supervisor told me they would send the request to the call centre but did not believe anything would be done. I am not sure how your staff can offer clear assurances and then fail to follow through or follow up. I personally would not be able to recommend this resort because of the dishonestly, and after reading some other reviews it’s sounds like it happens a fair amount.
