A huge stretch of Playa Mujeres welcomes fearless youngsters ready for jumping waves and splashing up a storm while their parents grab cervezas and drag sun loungers right up to the water's edge. Two pools are the best way to cool down, especially with the awesome waterfall bridge. Swim up an appetite and sit down to dinner at one of the three restaurants; you can dine on yummy tenderloin at La Casona, hearty rigatoni at Davino's and fresh sushi on the terrace at Zama Restaurant. Practice your salsa steps to live music after dinner before stopping at Tiki Beach Bar for a nightcap.
Hanging out at the beach is popular at Villa del Palmar Cancun Luxury Beach Resort & Spa, and there are plenty of ways to enjoy the scenery. Have a kayak race with the kids, snorkel through the underwater kingdom or test your reflexes with windsurfing. Take a trip through the hydrotherapy circuit before letting the stress melt away on a massage table.

Relaxing, Quiet with a touch of Luxury
This resort offers a quiet setting filled with luxury and poolside service. Secluded from Cancun's hotel row, it allows for peaceful walks along the beach. The resort is situated just a 30 minute ferry ride away from Isla de Mujeres. I really enjoyed my stay, it was different from most all-inclusive resorts I've stayed in the fact that it didn't feel over crowded.
Not ideal for a family, but great rooms
The summary is that this is not a great place for families. This is a fine place for couples. The hotel doesn't really cater to, nor built for, kids, but claims that it does. The food was mediocre at best. (Below I don't point out things that you know from any research, like location, etc.) Cons 1. Live music (which all rooms can hear) goes until 10:00 pm. For a resort to cater to little children and do this is obnoxious, especially when the signs around the hotel ask for noise to be over by 9:30. 2. The showers stopped working and the staff kept lying about it. The staff said they’d send someone up to my room, but unbeknownst to me at the time, the issue effected the whole hotel, so why bother sending someone (who never showed, even though they told me 5-10 minutes on multiple occasions)? So we had no water in our room for hours. 3. We went to one of the restaurants for an early dinner. It was empty. It still took 30 minutes for kids food and 45 minutes for my appetizer to come (which was not the one I ordered). I had also ordered an item off-menu and the chef refused to make it, but instead of telling me this, he just made me something different — same category/similar, but not what I wanted. All of this was done without discussion with me. 4. The concierges are horrible. They are either trying to sell you a day trip for them to make money, or giving incorrect information. We had multiple concierges tell us “facts” that were categorically incorrect. We asked concierges to pass along messages, which they never did. They care about selling you something or getting you away from the desk. They do not have your best interests at heart. 5. We asked the front desk to place a room service order for us. They said no problem. Two hours later, no food. I called room service and they said they take orders only from guests and not from staff, so they ignored my request. 6. Staff by the pools are really attentive — when they are around. It took over an hour to flag down our server to get a bill. At one point staff were fighting over who serves us (for the tip), which is not a good look. And then they disappear. Same for the people you need to talk to in order to borrow hotel games/balls. 7. More mosquitoes here than most other places I’ve been, including other resorts in Cancun. 8. Food is pretty poor quality, even for an all inclusive, especially if you don’t eat meat or chicken. Breakfast, however, wasn’t bad. 9. None of the pools are particularly deep, or straight. So there is no way to swim laps, or have kids try to reach the bottom. I think the deepest area of the deepest pool was five feet. 10. The kids pool is two feet deep and a pretty sad sprinkler park. It was not worth taking my kids there. 11. You cannot add the kids club fee (for children under four) onto your bill. It must be paid in cash at the time of service. 12. Unlike other Mexican all inclusives, there is not a real "party" atmosphere at any pool. We were expecting one pool to have loud, great music and a good vibe for kids to enjoy. Every single pool was quiet and sedate. In the afternoon at the pool, there was a game, but it was poorly attended and a little sad. Pros: 1. Most people, other than the concierges and front desk staff/managers, are very nice and pleasant (when they are around). 2. The room are great. Great AC. Very clean and very spacious. It was the highlight of the hotel, sadly. 3. The grounds are well maintained. 4. The kids club takes children under the age of four, but for an additional fee, which must be paid in cash. Tips: Go to Isla Mujeres for a day. That place is incredible. Breakfast has the best meal options for vegetarians. Restaurants have dress codes. Bring appropriate clothing. Don't use the concierges. I would only go to this hotel if I needed a place with the great suites, but did not care about food quality, location or "things to do." If you're looking for a place with a few pools to lounge around at for the week, and need nice suites, this is it.
Hotel was imacculate
This is the second property of Villa Del Palmars that we stayed at, other being Cabo. The grounds were spectacular. Nothing was out of place or needed repair. They certainly pay attention to the small details. When we went to the pool every day, it was easy to find seats and they had servers that helped with anything you needed such as moving umbrellas or moving chairs. I liked how the towels were ther for the taking and did not have to check them out with someone. They had a good variety of food options. Sushi was our favorite. The only dissapointment we had was with the buffet. We had dinner there once and breakfast every morning. The service was on point but some of the food was dry and over cooked. Other than that, all the other dinning options worked and were good. I did wish they had a bigger lobby where you could gather with friends and just chill. Its smaller. The had a variety of pools and a nice beach they raked every morning. PS- stay away from timeshare presentation if you can. We have been to a few over the years and they were certainly higher pressure than the others.
Beautiful hotel, great food, great pools, but ocean not so good
My family & I stayed there 5 nights in March 2020. The rooms were very spacious & clean. We had five people..4 adults & one teen. So we had two rooms an A and B suite, which in all there were three bathrooms a full kitchen and dining area. The balconies had a beautiful view and hammocks which were awesome. There are some people on the resort that do not do the all-inclusive so every time you go to a restaurant you have to wait for them to bring you the bill to sign when finished. That was a little different for us as all the other all-inclusive places we have been to that was the only option. The food was good there was a good variety. And if you’re planning a trip over to the island Isla Mujeres the Ultramar it’s just a walk up the beach from the hotel. The pools were nice they seemed a little cold but refreshing from the hot sun once you get used to it. The ocean was definitely a disappointment. Not pretty water like in the hotel zone area and there is A LOT of seaweed on the beach and as you walk into the water it’s never ending and feels stringy & yucky on your feet. They were using a tractor frequently to pick up the seaweed but it is something that can’t be kept up with as there is so much. Most tropical vacations we go on we love to spend time in the ocean but only went in once because of the sea weed. We spent most of the time at the pools. At the pools we had amazing service! One of our favorite waiters by the pool was Enrique, he was great & on top of quenching our thirst!!! At the buffet our favorite server was Guadalupe, he was very friendly & great service! The hotel was great but we will probably not come here again based on the ocean.
This resort is lovely, restaurants are great, grounds and pools, are well kept. Staff are courteous and very helpful. My husband and I had a great time and we are looking forward to returning very soon.
