Great value, beautiful resort, traveled with teens
We recently stayed at Villa Del Palmar in Cancun to celebrate our daughter’s 15th birthday. She brought a friend, so finding a two-bedroom suite was a must. We booked through Costco Travel, which had the best rates for our dates and room type. After doing an exhaustive search of highly rated, reasonably priced, all-inclusive Caribbean resorts, Villa Del Palmar checked all the boxes. While some reviews were mixed, we decided to give it a try — and we were pleasantly surprised. We arranged private airport transportation through our travel package, which made arrival seamless. After an early flight (we left home at 3:30 a.m.!), we landed around 10:00 a.m. We got to the resort around 11:30am. It is about a 40 minute drive from the airport. The staff greeted us warmly, and check-in was smooth. Because two-bedroom suites are limited, our room wasn’t ready until 3:00 p.m., but we expected that. After check-in, were given champagne, then we met briefly with the concierge and politely declined the timeshare presentation (they do offer discounted excursions if you attend). The bell staff stored our luggage, and we headed straight to Zama for lunch. It was excellent and exactly what we needed after a long morning of travel. The food was fresh and delicious. The property is older but very well maintained and beautifully landscaped. The grounds were immaculate throughout our stay. Our two-bedroom suite was perfect for our family. It consisted of two adjoining rooms, each with its own private entrance and balcony (complete with a hammock!). My husband and I had the larger side with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, dining table, living room, private bedroom, and two full bathrooms. The girls had a separate room with two queen beds, a full bathroom, and a small seating area. It offered the ideal mix of family time and privacy. Before arriving, I made dinner reservations through the resort website (you can note that you are checking in that week if you don’t yet have a room number). I’m so glad I did — the concierge confirmed that reservations were fully booked during our stay. Dining highlights: • Zama (Mexican, open-air in the center of the property): excellent food and drinks. The churros were the teens’ favorite of the trip. • Legends - Sports Bar: casual but solid option for a relaxed evening. • La Cosona - Steakhouse: good, though not exceptional. • Davino - Italian Restaurant: beautifully presented dishes and very good food. • Breakfast Buffet: consistently excellent every morning. There are multiple pools, daily activities, and a lovely beach. The water was a bit cool this time of year, but still enjoyable. If pool seating is important to you, I recommend connecting with the pool concierge early. We made sure to tip generously and had chairs or a cabana each day without issue. While the resort is all-inclusive, tipping is customary and appreciated. You’ll receive an itemized bill showing a zero balance, but we typically tipped 10–20% of the listed total. You can charge gratuities to your room or bring cash. We tipped pool staff, servers, room service, drivers — everyone was hardworking and attentive. We also ventured off property for excursions. We visited Isla Mujeres and did a cenotes tour — both were absolutely worth it and memorable experiences. The teens LOVED the all-inclusive experience. They enjoyed the freedom to order what they wanted, whenever they wanted, and made full use of room service. On our final night, I asked everyone to rate the trip. All three said “10!” — and my family can be tough critics. The resort is also very safe. It is far away from the main hotel zone, but that was fine. There is Starbucks and small convenience store across the street. The resort had a nice mix of families, couples, and retirees. It was lively without being loud or overwhelming. One added bonus: you can walk over to the newer sister property next door, which is stunning. If you’re interested in excursions, attending the tour may be worthwhile for the discounted pricing. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would absolutely consider returning.

Horrific customer service
Horrific customer service. I contacted the hotel many times to make some tweaks to my booking. The communication is terrible. Email, phone, social media. No one will reply. So I decided to cancel my booking. Still no one will reply to me. Shame on you.

Great family vacation!
This was one of the best vacations we have been on in a long time! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating! Our check in-process was a bit rocky to start as they were unable to find our reservation (had us booked to start the following day) but this was quickly overcome by the staff the rest of the trip. Our butlers, Pavel & Rafael were great. They got to know us and would engage with my kids and always eager to help with anything we needed. Reserving seats at the pool was initially quite stressful (as all the seats were seemingly "taken" by 730/8a) but then working with Angel helped tremendously! He looked out for us and ensured we were all set every morning. A very special shout out to Eric, our poolside server. Eric went above and beyond every day for us. He anticipated our needs and made excellent recommendations on our lunches. Eric made our trip!! We would come back 10x just to have someone like Eric taking care of us (we also moved our seats so that we could continue being in Eric's section, that's how much we loved and appreciated him!). All of the food was excellent across all restaurants. Room service was also phenomenal. We did the special dinner in our room (with Daniel Ancona as our server) with a chef and, again, hats off to the chef that night - she was incredible cooking our steaks to perfection (and outstanding soup and salad as well)! We will definitely be back!

One of the better Villa del Palmar properties and better (if not best) food.
We stayed at Villa del Palmar Cancun from 12/6/25 to 12/13/25. Our elite concierge Nubia was excellent. She was very responsive and helped arrange our reservations and anything we needed. The hot tub on the balcony of our 3 BR ocean view, however, did not function properly. After 3 days of the staff trying to fix it, it still did not work. Santiago and Oscar were very responsive to this and moved us to the penthouse instead. What a wonderful luxurious space this was!! Santiago and Oscar were fantastic in helping with our needs. Our butler Yosel was also excellent. Our pool service with Angel, Jorge, and Benjamin were excellent, always available, always attentive. The soft shell crab at Zama was amazing. We took the ferry to Isla Mujeres (cost about $30 USD/person round trip). Rented a 6 person golf cart ($150 USD for 8 hours) from Rentadora Joaquin (one of the first rental places you see as you walk to town from the ferry). They had newer looking carts (don’t rent from the sale person as you get off the ferry - they are more expensive). Ate at Soggy peso which had excellent fish tacos. Ate dinner at Los Tacos del Humo (also ate here last time we visited here). Had Taco Loco for dinner which was good. The carnitas taco is bigger, spicier, and better. They give you a free donut dessert here. We had a great time at the resort. As always, the staff service (and food) is what differentiates Villa del Palmar resorts from the many others we have visited. They are always attentive, very friendly, and will practically do anything to make your stay memorable. We were planning to go to Loreto in May (our favorite place), but decided to return here and bring all the family instead!!

Stunning Suite and Five-Star Dining—But Watch Out for the "Towel Game
The Vibe: Perfect for Families Before diving in, it is worth noting that this is a true family resort, not an adults-only party spot. The atmosphere is upscale yet welcoming for those traveling with kids, making for a relaxed and high-quality vacation. We will definitely be going back! First Impressions The arrival experience was seamless. We were greeted with chilled towels and sparkling wine, and the lobby is simply grand. Also, the "lobby smell" is incredible—it’s the first thing you notice and sets a luxurious tone immediately. The Accommodations: 10/10 The rooms were the best part of our stay. We booked a 2-bedroom ocean-view suite and it was spectacular: Space: 3 full bathrooms and 2 massive balconies with stunning views. Quality: Beautiful decor, super comfortable beds, and high-end L’Occitane toiletries. Perks: Nespresso machines in-room and consistently well-stocked snacks/drinks. Dining: Not Your Average All-Inclusive The food and presentation are top-notch. It truly doesn't feel like typical "all-inclusive" food. Breakfast: Great smoothie selection and two fresh-made hot stations. Dinner: Every restaurant we visited was delicious. Note to Guests: They don't post the restaurant schedule online. We arrived to find the buffet closed on our first night without a reservation, but the staff was wonderful and squeezed us into Legends to ensure we were taken care of. The Grounds, Beach & Water Park The property is stunning, well-maintained, and very easy to navigate. The beach is beautiful and swimmable, and the Aqua Park was a massive hit with the family! The "Towel Game" Warning Our only real frustration was the pool chair situation. It is the worst I’ve ever seen—you have to be at the main pool by 6:00 AM to get a seat. It’s clear that people are tipping attendants to "reserve" spots early, which is frustrating for such a high-caliber resort.
