What We Love

  • This resort is perfect for families. Kids in Paradise keeps children happy while their parents enjoy time alone for scuba diving, sport fishing and spa time.
  • The new farm-to-table restaurant, Tomatillos, is absolutely amazing!

Things to Know

  • The resort is a great base for families who love the fine sand of Medano Beach. But there's also golfing, whale-watching and a simply fabulous spa.

Franchesca from aquatics/show was fantastic! Made our experience at Villa del Palmar 100/100. The entire aquatics stuff was amazing and likeable. The show dancers were phenomenal.Celso + Francisco from pool service also were such a great addition to making our family vacation a memorable. Going out of their way continuously to make our experience great. Will definitely be back. Such a great vacation experience.

    Outdated, Crowded, Disappointing

I’ve stayed at 11 all-inclusive resorts, so I’m comparing this stay to those experiences. I may be picky, but most of our issues couldn’t be fixed during our stay. Facility: Very outdated and basic, even after the recent $6M renovation. It feels more like a Florida Holiday Inn than a 4–5 star resort. Not handicap accessible—lots of stairs, slippery areas, and pools that are hard to enter/exit. Pools: Only two pools—one extremely crowded and loud, the adult pool was freezing. No landscaping or design, just large round pools. Hot tubs were packed with children. The area feels very cramped. Food: Only three restaurants (mostly Mexican and one Italian). Food was mediocre. Most all-inclusives I’ve stayed at have more dining options and numerous buffets. Staff: Strong pressure to tip—could not get good service unless we tipped at least $5. When we had room issues, staff said nothing could be done unless we paid to upgrade. Rooms: Outdated with a musty smell. Our tub was clogged most of the stay. We requested a king but received two uneven double beds pushed together with a topper—very uncomfortable. Beach: Public beach with limited loungers. Vendors are pushy and stay very close. Overall: This feels more like a hotel than a resort. The recent renovation didn’t improve layout or guest flow. Best for budget-conscious, active families who plan to leave the resort often. Not ideal for couples, relaxation, mobility needs, or those used to luxury all-inclusives. You get what you pay for. This experience turned us away from the Villa Group—we much prefer Barcelo, Dreams/Secrets, Hyatt, RIU, Princess, or Occidental.
