Will go again to this location! And recommend to families.

Everything was great! The platinum lounge welcome and personal butler services provided by Manual Diaz and Sebastian... there was some miscommunication due to Sebastian loosing his phone but he the made it up when assigned to our room. Manual was fantastic and took care of each and every need including the little details of arranging fruit basket / special snack requests for kids etc. Thank you so much to make it a very memorable 25 Christmas vacation !

Great Week at El Cid Resorts

The Ventus Ha and it's two sister resorts were excellent, great pool areas, restaurants were all 4 Star. Our 1 bedroom was very spacious and the murphy bed for our son was great. Our Butlers Sebastian and Manuel treated us like royalty. Always available if we needed something. The resort staff kept the place spotless. Every staff member would great you with their right hand over their heart and say Family. I highly recommend these El Cid resorts

Family vaca 2nd year as members

We are members and all was almost perfect with our family vaca. Our butlers Sebastian and Manuel were very attentive and gave our an excellent service. Food and staff were great and the site well maintaned and clean. Entertainement was fun as usual. The issue we had was that our almost 5 year old was sent out of the Kids Club after 5 minutes because he spoke French only and asked for Mom. I feel they did not put any effort to ease him in and have fun with the kids. Because of that we could not use the Kids Club and have breaks as a couple. We were told at the Loyalty club that they would look into it and nobody came back to us with a solution before our departure.

It was such a beautiful experience, we will be back!

This resort is off the beaten path so there’s no busy traffic. The beach is recovering from the hurricane but is still very beautiful and usable. There are very large pools and hot tubs where daily activities are scheduled for both children and adults. There are also pools, for adults only, on two rooftops and one on the beachside section of the resort. There are daily activities for both adults and children scheduled throughout each day and evening at different areas of the resort. There are also excursions, specialty dinners, and special occasion options available for purchase. The rooms are very spacious, clean, well kept, comfortable, and quiet for relaxing. There are multiple options for food. Whatever you choose, you will be happy with any of them. We tried every restaurant on the resort and every single one of them were phenomenal with both the food and the service. If you are looking for a safe, reasonably priced vacation with the choice to just relax or to be active in a beautiful resort with phenomenal food and exceptional service, this is the place we highly recommend. As far as the service goes, we want to personally recognize our exceptional butler, Cali. He was the best butler we’ve ever had on any vacation we’ve ever been on. His attention to detail, his dedicated customer service, and his desire to go over and above to give his all, making sure every single detail was attended to, all with the most upbeat, friendly, and accommodating personality was heartwarming and so refreshing in the customer service industry these days. Thank you, Cali, for making our special vacation time much more meaningful and helping us to make precious, forever memories over anything that we could have ever imagined. You were the catalyst that made us decide to become members so that we can experience this beautiful resort and all it has to offer, on a regular basis.

    Not relaxing - terrible experience

We went to Ventus Ha with my wife and 3 yo kid for 7 nights. The grounds of Ventus Ha look great and the room was fine, but the experience was truly terrible from the very beginning. The confirmation email we received when my wife made the booking said that we were staying at the El Cid Marina (El Cid has three hotels all next to each other, Marina, Ventus, and Ventus Ha), so when we arrived (at around 10pm) we headed to the Marina. After waiting in line at the check-in desk for 1hr (the check-in process was super slow for the people in front of us) they tell us that our reservation was actually at Ventus Ha and that we have to go there to check in. The whole check-in process ended up taking more than 1.5 hrs which is not good when you have a 3yo in to - we went to bed past midnight because of all of this confusion. The next morning we wake up and realize that they had never told us how to get on the WiFi and our phone had almost no signal. We called a number listed in the room to ask about the WiFi and got passed around to three different people - the last person told us that WiFi access had a cost ($60/device for a week, which is outrageous - I had not paid for WiFi in a hotel in many many years) and that we could only purchase it by talking to a concierge in the lobby. We go to the concierge desk and are told that the concierge assigned to us is not there at the moment and that he would arrive at 2pm - the existing concierge apparently could not help us. We went to lunch and when we came back at 2pm the concierge was still not there, so the other guy decided to help us. If we were willing to spend 1.5hrs listening to pitch to sell us a time share, they could give us the WiFi for free. But they only had appointments for this three days later, at 8:30am. This whole interaction took hours and was incredibly frustrating because there was no clarity about any of the process and it all fell like being at a slimy car dealership. When I was finally ready to get the appointment and get free WiFi, then they tell me that they need to run a hold on my credit card for the cost of the WiFi in case we don't show up to the appointment, but the machine to do this is at one of the other hotels, which was incredibly frustrating. We spent several hours of our precious vacation time dealing with this ridiculous interactions, just to get WiFi. After finally booking the sell pitch appointment, I was told by a front desk person that I could have bought the WiFi at the front desk without having to deal with the concierge - what?!?!?!?! On the phone we were told that it had to be done with the concierge, after we had been passed around three different people. The worst customer experience ever in a hotel. At the same time, when we woke up the first morning we noticed many bites on our legs in patterns very indicative of bedbugs (cluster of small bites in lines or circles). My wife was very stressed out by this because years ago she had a terrible experience with bedbugs in a hotel. We complained a lot to the front desk staff about this but they were quite dismissive and told us that they couldn't move us to a different room for several days. We ended up staying in the room the whole 7 nights because any fear of bedbugs coming home in our luggage was going to remain regardless of the move. We arrived home and immediately bought a heat chamber to eliminate bedbugs from all of our luggage - this was obviously expensive (chamber was $200) and very time consuming. Everything that we had in the room at Ventus Ha had to be "cooked" in the heat chamber for a while. As I said, the grounds of Ventus Ha, including the pool, hot tub and a bar on top of one of the buildings look very nice, but the pool is frigid so our kid didn't really want to get in. The whole point of a vacation like this is for the kid to spend the days playing in the pool! He only wanted to be in the hot tub, and I don't blame him. The facilities at Marina are a bit old and don't look great, and the pool there has terribly loud music all the time. All other pools in the property are also very cold. The food situation is truly terrible and not relaxing at all. Unless you make dinner reservations at a few special restaurants on the first day you get there your only option is to stand in line at one of the buffet restaurants. The food at the buffets is decent to good, but if you don't arrive super-early, you might have to wait more than 1hr in line to get dinner, which is not ideal with 3 year old kid. One night I had to sneak into the buffet and feed the kid standing up in a corner because he was famished and couldn't wait in line so long. Some of the reservation restaurants are good, and others are quite mediocre. I never ordered cocktails (because I seldom drink alcohol), but a friend we were with said that all the cocktails he ordered were terrible (except for a margarita at one of the reservation restaurants). The last terrible experience was after I reserved a snorkeling trip on a catamaran through the El Cid web site, and paid for "trip protection" to be able to cancel or reschedule up to 30min before departure. The reservation email explained that cancelling and rescheduling have to be done by phone and provides a phone number. The night before the trip my wife and I decided to cancel the trip. I called the provided phone number many many times but always got a recoding saying that the number was not accessible from the location I was calling - which was right in the hotel!!!! I then decided to send an email (to an address on the confirmation email) asking for the cancellation, but never heard back. They never cancelled the trip and never refunded me the cost, which was close to $200. This is the worst hotel vacation experience I have ever had. We'll never come back to this place.
