El Cid in Cancun not what we hoped for.

We have been to several all inclusive resorts and Ventus at Marina El Cid is short of all inclusive. The first hour and a half of checking in is all about signing up for their presentation to become a member. When they finally realized we were not interested in the free breakfast with the presentation we tried to book some restaurants for dinner just to be told there were none available that night nor the following night. We were told to check back the next evening at 5 to see if there was a cancelation. The towell rental is open from 10:00-6:30 so if you want a towell before or after it is hot then you need to get one during those hours just so you have one when you need it. There were a couple of things we were interested in doing like Popol Vuh and bike tour to PM but had been canceled that week. We tried again to make dinner reservations and the only available times were 5 or 9:30 and only at 2 places. We were also told that there would be a taco party on Thursday which was cancelled, so we planned on the Mexican night at the buffet advertised to be Thursday but that was also wrong it turned out to be International night. If you do make a reservation make sure you have your reciept when you go and you are not late or they will give you a hard time telling you there are no seating even though there are lots of empty tables. Another thing is they will not transport you back to the airport as a courtesy. One way only from airport to their resort. We did pay extra to be put in Bld 27 to have an ocean view, but the construction right next to that building was very loud at 7:00 am and all day, we had 2 rooms and only one had the ocean view. The resort is pretty clean, but room service plates and left overs from other guests were left on the floor all day and night which brought the racoons in and scattered the garbage all over the stairs and hallways. The food is pretty good at Mercado Delores during lunch. The non alcoholic drinks have a chemical taste to them and if you order non alcoholic some bartenders were nice and others were not. Our fridge was not working and they came to fix it pretty fast, but it only worked for one day. Overall I would consider going somewhere other than El Cid if you don't want the hassles that we had.

    Not bad but pricey

We stayed here October 25 to November 1st. We made our reservation, flight and resort, on their own website, cheaper. A few hiccups, not Ventus fault. We stayed in room 2223 and 2222, both Platinum Club rooms. The Platinum Club gives you access to a private lounge area with upgraded liquor and snacks. The rooms were ocean view rooms. Check in went smoothly. Rooms: The room wasn't bad. The bed was comfortable and you had a pillow menu, which we didn't use because the pillows on the bed were good. A/C worked well, a little noisy if you are a light sleeper like me. You can set your own temp, either Celsius or Fahrenheit. The shower was ok, I figured for the price we paid that you would have a rain shower. The bad part about the shower is that it didn't drain properly so you got about 1/2 inch standing water. Room view wasn't the best, I expected better. Restaurants: We ate at one of three breakfast buffets, one on the Ventus side, which was small but just enough food and the other was on the Marina side, the bigger of the two. Both had American and Mexican breakfast food. For lunch we always ate at Dolores which had different food stations, like a food court, seafood, Italian, Mexican, crepes, Asian and Vegetarian. For dinner, there are 7 al-a-cart restaurants and one buffet. The buffet had a different theme each night, ate there twice, and was good . The Italian restaurant was very good. If you like pizza it is wood fire pizza. The Mexican restaurant was just ok, service was very slow. Kobo is the hibachi restaurant. Nice show and very good food. A'akat is a Fusion restaurant which we didn't like at all. Food was not good. The staff are friendly. Most said hello or smiled. We had butler service which was great. A shout-out to Alma, Alan and Braulio, they get two thumbs up from us. They were all very helpful and very friendly. They were always concerned about how we are and if we needed anything. Now for a few complaints and suggestions for the resort. While most pathways were lit some were poorly lit or no lights whatsoever. My wife fell once near A'akat restaurant because of the poorly lit area, she scraped both her knees. One person in our party had to use the light on her phone to see where they were going. Platinum Club was not worth the price you paid extra for. The rooms are like every other roo Uw m on the resort. It could have been a little more luxurious, rain shower head, liquor dispenser in the room, better decor and higher grade amenities. The only thing worth the Platinum room is the butler service. There were no offers of room upgrades, I am not talking about free. We are a family of three with two rooms it would have been nice to have an offer for an upgrade to a one or two bedroom suite. We will be returning for another stay in the future. You will not be disappointed with choosing this resort.

    Awesome experience!

I never write reviews but this resort deserves it! We had a great time, everyone is super nice, great service, beautiful resort and the food is outstanding! We had the opportunity to be there during day of the dead and Halloween, decorations all around the resort were outstanding and the hunted house experience was very well done! We are going back for sure!

    Excellent Vacation at Ventus Elcid

We had a wonderful, relaxing, worry free time at the Ventus Elcid. David and Jesus, our assigned concierges treated us like family and took care of everything for us from dinner reservations, to direct messaging us the daily activities and shows. They truly cared that everything was perfect for us and that we were doing well. Any request was answered promptly. Our time at the resort was wonderful due to their service.
