    Friend Trip

Best friend trip to celebrate my retirement. Travel agent said she requested my room to be decorated for this special occasion and it was not. We had to wait for room to be ready well after check in time. Room temperature was difficult to regulate due to the humidity. Safe had wrong directions (4 digit but was 6 digits). Beds were very comfortable and slept well.

    DONT GO HERE

This was the WORST trip I have ever been on. Highlights: Cockroaches in room Cold food in restaurants when it should have been hot. Sitting out for hours Refused to drive us when asked for a cart All inclusive and they expect tips for every single thing you do there. 5 feet high walls of seaweed on beach that made resort smell like sewer. 5 feet of seaweed that nothing was done about. Made the place smell like raw sewer. Never mentioned it nothing was done about it. Could not sit on beach and WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF OUR TRIP If you ask about issues they act like they dont speak your language. They have tours that are not do what they tell you. For example: a 11 hour tour of Santo Domingo was supposed to be bi-lingual. First hour and 45 min of bus drive in spanish and continued that way for the remainder of the trip 95% in spanish and only 5% because a spanish person reminded him he had english people on tour for ONE STOP. Supposed to be home by 6 for a show that night at 7:30. ALL THIS DISCUSSED BEFORE TOUR with person selling. It came home at 8...no traffic so no excuse. Butler was great and only reason I would not give this hot mess a -10 Try to sell you the paladium club for $30,000 MID LEVEL package with a promise of a tour. They take you on a tour after you say no. THEY DRIVE YOU AROUND AND STAY ON THEIR PHONE IGnORING the whole "tour" which was a golf cart ride to show you rooms YOU ARE ALREADY STAYING IN!!! Thank God they brought what they said was the quality control person over to make sure you were not bullied. AND HE BULLYS YOU to get to buy their low end package like a SLEEZY USED CAR SALESMEN. They the guy fills out your survey for you saying how good everything with their sales process. DONT GO HERE!!! I reached our at the end to an email. They said they will do better for next guests. Thats the response I got. So disappointed. 5 STARS HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Maybe .25 Stars. There are too many other items to worry about. I reached out to TRS SAVE YOU MONEY

AVOID this self-proclaimed "5-star all inclusive resort" DO NOT RECOMMEND

If you want to get bit by cockroaches while you are sleeping and eat cold, old, stale and unsafe to eat food where the seaweed at the beach is feet high while you watch a tractor grumble by in an attempt to clear it and experience rundown amenities that are not updated by any qualified staff while being given pitches to buy spa time, vacation club, etc while you roam through the property then this is the place for you. Otherwise avoid at all cost. It is hard to know what is "all included" when everything is an upcharge. The one redeeming quality was the staff who were always pleasant and helpful. The food was the most dissapointing feature. Besides the Japanese restaurant, where food is prepared in front of you or the omelete or pancake stations, the food is left to sit for long periods of time and not at temperatures that make it safe to eat while flies circle. The pastries are dry and crunchy when they should be soft and fresh. The yogurt was warm and the freshly prepared battered fish or other meats were cold no matter which restaruant we ate at on the property or if we ordered room service. This is puzzling as the food appears to be kept warm under food lamps or warmers but surpriingly the food would be stone cold when we went to eat it. Much of the food tasted as though it had been stored in plastic or next to other foods given the tastes they left in your mouth. The one saving grace about the food was the coffee which should expectedly be phenominal given it is one of their primary crops. Drinks from the bar were clearly watered down as I am a non-drinker and could easily drink all day there from the bar with no effects unless I added my own sealed bottle of rum to my drink. The tipping culture is not the norm at an "all inclusuve" where tips should be expected with high quality service and not at every turn. We tipped every bartender, waitstaff, cart driver, butler, etc spending way more money that should be expected at an all inclusive. The entertainement offered is very minimal and everything is an upcharge.

    Absolute Bliss

Absolute Bliss, from start to finish. Perfect place for a stress free, relaxing holiday. Our butlers Rosmilka and Nilsen were so friendly and accommodating, and also sorted us out some extra little treats with some wine in our room. The rooms are well appointed, with everything you need and are really spacious. The four poster beds are a nice touch too. Tui advertise that you get 4 bottles of spirits in your room per week. This isn’t correct. You get one 35ml bottle. However, this really isn’t the end of the world with it being all inclusive. There’s some great places for a swim, with the adults only secret pool a perfect place, surrounded by trees making you feel like you’re not even at a hotel. It also has a swim up bar that’s open until midnight, so great for something different to do with your evening. Just remember to get a towel during the day as the towel station isn’t open at night. The beach was lovely, just a shame about the seaweed. You can walk off the resort via the beach, where there’s shops and people selling boat rides and the like. People do also walk along the beach selling massages, braiding, photos with parrots, but they’re really not pushy and leave you alone if you’re not interested. The food options are great, with my favourite being Tentazonie and La Bohiem (both probably spelt wrong!). Tentazonie also has a cocktail waiter that comes round making you drinks at your table. The beers is a Dominican one called Presidente which is 5% and quite nice. It was also a nice change being served this as a pint in the bars at night. Hemingway’s is a bar that’s open until 0300 in the morning, with a live music performance from 2200 and then a DJ after. There’s also a 24hr casino. The size of the place is great as you can wonder around the lovely manicured grounds, but there’s also plenty of golf buggies if you can’t be bothered walking. After you check out you still have access to the facilities and food and drink until you get picked up, which is a great touch, not like European destinations which charge for that. The Chic cabaret show is good, with a 6 course meal and show. This cost $60 each but was worth it. We loved the waiter Kelvin, really nice friendly guy. This really is the perfect place for a get away and I would highly recommend.
