Fantastic Resort
From check in to check out...we had a great time at this resort. Are room was in building 58...on the edge of the resort, which we thought was on the edge of the planet, but the walk to the beach was fairly quick and the amount of shuttles made getting to restaurants throughout the complex painless. Our room was nice...with a pretty comfy bed...didnt use the swim out as much as we thought we would unfortunately because of the amount of shade and the temperature of the pool...not the resorts fault...mini bar stocked daily and anything else needed was always just a conversation with our butler away. The resort seemed a bit dead at times which made relaxing super easy...hardly a wait at the many bars...also the bars had amazing staff and top shelf liquors and cocktails. The Chic Caberet show was fantastic. Shout out to Cindy our butler and Stephen and Elin our bartenders for most of the week...we vacation every year and have always said that the world is too big of a place to visit the same resort twice...but could definitely see us heading back there again

The experience was pleasant overall but the TRS Turquesa Hotel is not worthy of 5-star
We were there with 17 other couples, and let me just state that we did have a lot of fun overall. Understand that we are well aware that we are privileged to even be there but we did spend a lot of hard-earned money, and I felt the place was not worthy of the 5-star designation which of course came with the commensurate cost. We have been to other all-inclusives -- nice ones -- so we have some basis for comparison. The piece that stuck out to me the most was that the employees were either friendly and eager to please (as you would expect) but some -- perhaps even as much as 60% -- showed either indifference to our requests/questions/needs or even disdain. Now i understand it must be hard to service a bunch of entitled Americans (mostly) day in and day out for a modest income in a country with quite a bit of poverty (off the resort, of course) where they live. I don't think i could do it with a smile on my face week after week, so I empathize, but i'm fairly confident i would be less disgruntled regardless. It's my understanding that the wages there actually make their jobs rather sought-after, given the alternatives. Having said that, there were some employees who were downright fun and entertaining and I appreciated that. We all did. Aside from that: the food on average was not terrible but also not great. Certainly not 5-star worthy. It was all buffet (aside from the paying restaurants) and you know how food looks and tastes after being in there awhile. Sneeze guards were uncomfortably small and there were a lot of people at this resort. The staff allowed people to drop towels on beach and poolside chairs early in the morning to "claim them" and simply leave them there all day (sometimes not showing up for many hours if at all). They did zero policing of the request to not do that; The ground floor swim-up room we were in had a musty, almost mildewy odor and all our clothes ended up smelling like this. Sure we could have all our clothes washed by them but as you can imagine it's not cheap and should not be necessary; Our bed was very uncomfortable; One couple in our group had a frequent drip coming from the ceiling in their water closet such that they had to sit sideways on the john to use it. It took them several days to "fix it" which apparently involved scraping the bubble of paint off and re-plastering it; Another had a toilet that would not flush and again it took a couple days (of a one-week stay) to get it working; There was a cabaret-style performance on the very large (too large?) resort area which included dinner but it was hot in there and the performance was underwhelming. It was, of course, not included, and not cheap. (the food for a change was good though). It lasted at least 30% longer than it had to and was, frankly, pretty cheesy. The resort's app was not great. Kind of confusing. Regarding locations of the rooms, make sure to check out the interactive map on their website b/c there's a big difference b/t the "poolside" rooms/suites at the main pool and the "poolside" rooms which are sort of detached (within walking distance of the main building). We imagined that the swim-up room we rented was a part of the main pool where most people hang out (as in other resorts where we've stayed) but the website apparently uses "poolside" and "poolview" sometimes interchangeably. There is a big difference. If you're looking for more of a "party" atmosphere, want to meet other people, and be closer to the action, DEFINITELY get the rooms by the main pool. POSITIVES? Some employees were really friendly and some fun!; The main lobby bar made great drinks IF you got the right person (one had NO clue what he was doing and I tried to avoid him). The swim-up pool bartenders (at the main pool) were fun and fair (meaning they served you in turn instead of preferring some people, as many bartenders do). The grounds were beautiful. Food was good at "Kusko" (Japanese/ Peruvian fusion) though, perhaps obviously, not included. The pools were well-maintained. The wi-fi wasn't perfect but still pretty good. RECOMMENDATIONS: If you don't need things to be perfect, this place is fine but don't expect 5-star treatment (despite the claim). You certainly shouldn't be expected to pay a 5-star rate, whatever that might be to you.

Excellent Get-Away
Just returned from 10 days. Swim up room is highly recommended. Bed, tub and a/c in room was a bit tired but room was spacious and well equipped. Book your à la carte meals when you arrive. Buffet is shared with the Palladium Group and is very loud and busy with families. Pool and beach area is beautiful. Long stretch of beach to walk. Sports complex for outdoor sports is far from TRS so you need to plan. Gym was close by. La Boheme and the Italian were our favourites but lots of options. Try Capricho for buffet breakfast, it’s smaller and quieter than the main buffet or do breakfast on the beach at Helios. It was windy and rainy our last 3 days so eating outside wasn’t always an option. We had a great time at TRS. The staff work hard and will accommodate you anyway they can.
