Not at the level of Westin Hotels. Basic rooms, not well run and poor communication/resolution from Manager. Bonvoy Members will be disappointed in regards to benefits not extended.

We might have set the bar to high now!
We live on Maui, and one of our favorite ways to unwind is with a 3–4 day staycation. It’s all about relaxing, spending time by the pool with our daughter, and yes, napping! Seriously, naps are wildly underrated. After a morning of swimming with a 5-year-old and enjoying a leisurely lunch, that Heavenly Bed feels like well, heaven. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a premier one-bedroom suite in the Hokupa‘a luxury tower, and it was absolutely stunning. The suite featured a balcony that stretched nearly the entire length of the room. From the bedroom, we had a direct oceanfront view overlooking Ulu Kitchen and the Beachwalk. The rest of the suite, including the huge bathroom, offered views of the beach, Black Rock, and the Sheraton. As always, the Heavenly Bed lived up to its name. The bathroom was a highlight, with a massive shower and a deep soaking tub that my wife and daughter thoroughly enjoyed. Guests staying in the Hokupa‘a tower have access to the exclusive lanai, and we found it to be an unexpected surprise. The plunge pool bar is for guests who are 18 and over, so we didn't indulge. Our daughter did keep sneaking away to dip her toes in the water though. While some reviews downplay the breakfast and dinner offerings served in the lanai, we had a very different experience. The resort describes them as “small bites,” but we enjoyed what felt like full breakfasts on two mornings and a satisfying dinner one evening. We even considered canceling a dinner reservation just to eat there again. The food selection was excellent, and we left full every time. Made-to-order açaí bowls in the morning and Häagen-Dazs ice cream for dessert? Yes, please. With a 5-year-old in tow, we spent all our pool time at the keiki pool, and it was perfect. She loved the slide and easily made friends with other kids. Poolside service was great, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We ordered non-alcoholic frozen drinks and a cheese pizza (because, we had a 5-year-old, duh), and to our surprise, the pizza was genuinely good. Is it worth the price? That’s subjective. We were upgraded and didn’t pay full price, so for us, it absolutely was. When you factor in the included breakfast and dinner, which can be pricey on Maui, it makes the overall cost more reasonable. Ultimately, it’s Maui, it’s the Westin, and it’s an oceanfront suite. It’s going to be expensive. If you're not up for paying a premium for a premium experience, that’s totally fair. But if you're looking for a memorable stay, this is a fantastic place to start.

Hokupa'a Tower
We spent three nights in a Ocean View 9th floor double queen room in the Hokupa'a Tower. We had originally booked a king bed, but the ocean view rooms are on the side facing Whaler's Village, which can get pretty loud at night, and the highest floor they had available for King beds was only on the 5th floor. Also, all the king beds face inland, whereas the double queen beds face ocean-ward, so when you're lying in bed you get a much better view in the double queens than in the kings. The room was very nice. Good amount of space, recently renovated and well decorated. Bed was very comfortable. The balcony is a little small, but still has a nice view if you're high up. When we booked we weren't sure whether the Hokupa'a Tower was worth it. After staying, I'm still not sure. The lanai lounge access is a nice little getaway, and it's convenient to have your own breakfast buffet in the tower and free dinner bites, though the quality of food varied greatly from day to day, and not a day went by where we didn't see a child sneeze directly on the breakfast buffet food. The infinity pool in the lounge is a nice touch, though it's VERY small, and since they serve breakfast in the same area (and allow you to eat in the pool) it tends to get filled with food crumbs pretty quickly. The bar was nice, though for some reason the discounts we got through Mariott Bonvoy didn't apply in the Lanai, even though they share the same menu and kitchen as the rest of the property. Also, we had booked with our AAA rate and got the extra 100 dollar a day voucher which ended up being less of a perk and more of a hassle to try to use every day. It's nice that you can use it in the spa, though you can't use it for renting cabanas and the added benefit of having free bites in the Lanai actually made it harder to use our full credit each day and ended up making the room more expensive than I initially had counted on. Overall, the resort is nice, but not spectacular. It's really nice that it has three adult pools, though the infinity pool with the sand bottom is very small and gets super crowded fast. We enjoyed the location of the hotel, especially being close to the excellent snorkeling at Black Rock beach (though we did think that in future we might just stay at the Sheraton to be closer to Black Rock)

Disappointed
Very disappointed. I have been trying to obtain information from this location for a month, starting with unanswered emails. At that point, I started calling. The first call, I was told someone would call me back, but it never happened. I made a second attempt to call, and I was told someone would call me back, but it never happened. The third time, I was finally able to speak to someone about having our wedding at the location, and went through all the standard questions. I was promised an email outlining the entire wedding packet, including pricing, locations, vendors, etc., but it was never sent. (Yes, checked my junk email) 4th attempt, I was told someone would call me back. Never happened. 5th attempt, waited on hold for an hour to speak to someone completely different. At this point, I had to start over, go through all the questions again, and was promised a packet with all the details we were looking for. IT WAS NEVER SENT AGAIN! I don’t know what’s going on at this hotel, but at this point, management needs to get involved with this department. Incredibly disappointed in the process. At this point, I’m going to have to assume it’s a discrimination thing, a financial thing, or being run by complete idiots.

Relaxing Staycation
We just did a weekend staycation at the Westin Maui Resort and as always had a truly relaxing time. We love the aloha spirit there and all of the resort amenities at the resort. Our Ohana had a fun time at Valley Alley and at the pools. The room was spacious and beds so comfortable. We'll be back again. Mahalo nui Westin Ohana.
