Avoid getting married here
I'm not one to write reviews, but my experience with this hotel’s service has been extremely disappointing—and I haven’t even arrived yet. I am getting married at this hotel and hosting a destination wedding with nearly 90 guests. Unfortunately, both my guests and I have struggled to get any responses regarding reservation adjustments or assistance with adding items to their bookings. Nearly every guest has reached out to me asking why our main contact, Yazmin, is unresponsive. We often have to send multiple follow-up emails just to receive a single reply. On top of that, I am experiencing the same issue with my wedding planner, Milady. She is frequently out of the office and rarely responds without repeated follow-ups. Many times, I have to CC additional contacts just to get any response at all. Even when I do receive a reply, my questions are often not addressed. I am currently waiting—now over two weeks—for a response to an important wedding-related question. The lack of communication and follow-through has been incredibly stressful. I have not yet visited the property, but the customer service experience so far has been awful. I also contacted Marriott directly to address my concerns, but the representative did not resolve anything and simply transferred me back to my hotel contact, which led straight to voicemail. My wedding is in April, and given the experience so far, I am genuinely worried about how this event will turn out. I am bringing a significant amount of business to this hotel and chose it believing it would be one of the best options in Costa Rica. At this point, the level of service does not reflect that expectation at all. I will update the review as we go, but so far what should be an exciting and stress-free time (hence why we chose a destination wedding at an all inclusive "five star" resort) has been a communication-less money grab.

Great Great Property!!!
Our family of 5 loves all-inclusive resorts and has visited about 7 across Mexico and the Caribbean. When planning our Costa Rica trip, research advised against staying at an all-inclusive, claiming we’d “miss out” on local activities, food, and culture. So, we opted for a half-and-half trip. After four days in La Fortuna — nonstop rain, zip-lining, hiking, and jam-packed days — we were craving pure sunshine and relaxation. Arriving at the Westin Playa Conchal was when our trip truly began to feel like a vacation. Our family suite had a few minor imperfections (mediocre shower pressure, no full-length mirror, wear and tear on furniture), but it was overall comfortable, with plenty of storage for our clothes. Any small issues were easily overlooked because the grounds, beach, and atmosphere were stunning. The resort was very walkable compared to others we’ve visited, with plenty of golf carts available as needed. The staff deserves special recognition. Everyone was kind, hardworking, and genuinely helpful. They consistently went above and beyond and always followed up as promised. From transportation and activities to even laundry service, everything was handled seamlessly and with impressive organization. The pool was massive, though the only thing my kids (ages 10, 11, 14) wished for was a water slide! We couldn’t do snorkeling or paddleboarding because of a red flag on the beach. We enjoyed the guided bike tour and spotted a ton of animals. We also made use of other amenities, such as the gym (great!), ping-pong and foosball tables. The food was amazing. We’re big fans of seafood, and the restaurant portions were generous and delicious. We drank some very creative, delicious cocktails with fresh juices, herbs, mint. We loved the Asian restaurant, Bamboo. We couldn't get a res to the Italian restaurant, but no problem, we had the pizza poolside for lunch instead. Service could be on the slower side (Costa Rican time!), so on some days we opted for the buffet to save time, but the quality never disappointed. The beach was gorgeous. There were vendors, but they were never overly aggressive. We enjoyed a couple of inexpensive massages and booked ATVs with Erik G on the beach. His prices were slightly better than others we researched, and he followed up afterward to see how we enjoyed the activity. I completely and wholeheartedly recommend this property and would not hesitate to go back!

Look elsewhere. Not so all-inclusive
We are here on the property, currently. The woman who checked us in was downright rude. Although we booked an all-inclusive vacation for $800+ per night, we are prohibited from using one of the on-site pools and from having breakfast at one of the restaurants. We are allowed only one-towel, per person, at the pool. Seriously. Some of the restaurants are open only three nights per week. The meals, thus far, have been average, at best. My sea bass, at the Mangler, was two bites of fish surrounded by raw vegetables. After three attempts to get a full-size ironing board (two by phone and one in person), it finally arrived. After three attempts to receive more coffee cups, they have yet to arrive. The same three tries for a lamp for our living-room area resulted in a promise. Yes, it was acknowledged that there is no overhead lighting there. But … no table lamp has been forthcoming. There is nowhere to have a nice leisurely sit-down breakfast, and the buffet is truly uninspiring. Hot water, in the shower, is elusive. This is my third stay at an all-inclusive resort. This one wins no awards. Go elsewhere.

Amazing Vacation
Costa Rica is such a beautiful country. My Fiance and I came with SRS on a business vacation. Are trip was amazing. The resort was beautiful. The rooms were clean, the staff was very nice, and the service was excellent. When we would leave for the day, are room would get cleaned and always left with something extra, like a puppy dog folded out of towels. There are so many things to do. We ventured out on to the beach and spoke to the locals. We booked an excursion to Leona Falls with Eric G, which was one of are favorite memories of the trip! We also got massages, twice 🤣, with Kelly in the green tent. They were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend visiting the Westin, and mingling with the locals. We can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic Stay!
We had a fantastic stay at the Westin Reserva Conchal! We booked a 6-night stay in the Family Club through Costco, which included van transport to and from the hotel; a nice to feature to heave as the hotel is about an hour and half from the airport. We were very impressed with the Westin – it is very spread out and most rooms are far from the lobby, although the hotel has complementary golf cart transportation that are easy to hail and book when needed. Service throughout our stay was fantastic – from check-in to housekeeping to bartenders to restaurant staff, everyone was friendly, approachable, and extremely accommodating. The pool is great (very large with plenty of seating), and the beach is beautiful and very easy to access. There is also plenty of wildlife on hotel property (monkeys, iguanas, etc.) which was really cool! We overall really loved our room, although we had booked a King Bed room and were instead given a 2 double bed room, and the hotel was fully booked while we were there so we were unable to switch to a different room. But the rooms are incredibly spacious and very clean, with top-notch housekeeping. If we were to travel again, I think I would just opt for a regular room as opposed to the Family Club room, as it didn’t provide too many additional benefits and the rooms seemed the same as non-Club rooms. For food, we really enjoyed most of the restaurants on the property, and found the process of booking online reservations through the Westin app fairly easy. Food was above average for an all-inclusive, and there was a very good selection with many cuisine types represented. One negative is that the allergy guide on each menu isn’t the most accurate; one member of our traveling party had a severe tree nut, peanut, and shellfish allergy, and we found the menus to frequently have allergens mis-labeled or omitted all together. However, the restaurant staff was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. For excursions, we had read many other online reviews that suggested booking via Erik G, who you can find waiting at the entrance to the beach from the hotel (always wearing a blue shirt). Erik had fantastic excursions at better prices than the companies working out of the hotel lobby, or if booking via Viator online. We booked 2 full-day excursions through Erik and he was even able to arrange for us to have the same guide/driver for both tours when we requested this. We pre-booked with Erik prior to arrival (easy to reach via WhatsApp). Would highly recommend! Overall, we had a fantastic stay at the Westin and would highly recommend this property. We are already planning a return trip!
