Wonderful Family Stay with Great Food, Warm Service, and Gorgeous Grounds

We spent a week at The Westin Marriott Reserva Conchal during the "rainy season" and honestly loved our time there. Despite the forecast, most days were bright, sunny, and perfect for exploring the property (rained night we arrived, drizzled the first morning until 11am and then only rained for 20 minutes at dinner time two other nights). Check-in was smooth and quick, and staff were attentive right from the start. Our Family Club Deluxe room was spacious for two adults and a toddler, with lots of room to spread out and get comfortable. The room layout is weird, though. Food & Restaurants One of the biggest highlights was the food. With several à la carte restaurants and no reservation system, we never waited long to be seated. The clear standout was Bamboo, the Asian restaurant. Every single meal there was spot-on. Mitra, the main buffet, had plenty of variety, and I didn’t even realize there was a sandwich station near the door until partway through the trip! What I do recommend: Get a burger!!! Whether it was at La Sabana/Caracola or poolside at El Ranchito, it was SO GOOD. Juicy, perfectly cooked, and honestly one of the best burgers I’ve had. Service throughout the restaurants was thoughtful and consistent. Staff quickly learned our preferences and were great about checking in to make sure everything was right. Special mention to the team at Bamboo — Gabriel, Winkel, Sadly, and Daniel — who were exceptional every time we saw them. Resort & Amenities The pool is massive, beautifully maintained, and ideal for families. The grounds overall are lush and serene. Staff all around the resort were incredibly kind — I lost my voice early in the trip after battling the flu back home (it lingered, and lingered), and everyone kept offering tea, honey, and ginger whenever they heard the rasp. I did finally get my voice back for the last few days. We did get caught off guard by how strong the sun is, even during rainy season. Despite wearing SPF50 and reapplying constantly, all of us ended up badly sunburned, and our toddler had one rough day with heat exhaustion. Lesson learned: the Costa Rican sun does not play around! The Not-So-Good There were only a few downsides. When the resort got busier midway through our stay, buffet cross-use of utensils became more common, so my husband had to rely on common sense when choosing items as he is Celiac (gluten free). We also didn’t have a great experience at the Italian restaurant Trattoria and ended up walking out. There was only the 3 of us and they sat us all the way in the back of the restaurant at an 8-person table (??), and in the middle of taking our drink order the server spoke to another staff member and walked away. We weren't impressed, waited another 10 minutes for our drinks and then said "screw it". Also, both my husband and I felt off after ordering the grilled steak at Cauri one night — not serious, just didn’t agree with us. The beach area is beautiful but not really swimmable due to rough waves and likely riptides. It’s also a public beach, so you’ll be approached regularly by people selling trinkets, massages, or horseback rides. They’re polite and it never felt unsafe, but it can get repetitive if you’re trying to relax. Standout Staff + A huge thank-you to: • Jose and Jeffrey, the shuttle drivers, for indulging our toddler’s obsession with riding the “school bus” • Hazel and Steven at the Family Club and Kids’ Club — absolutely wonderful with our son and incredibly helpful throughout our stay • Bamboo’s team — Gabriel, Winkel, Sadly, and Daniel — for consistently outstanding service • At Mitra, Eliecer, Alice, Stanley, and Rebecca • At Sabana, Alonso • And at the Mediterranean restaurant, Christhiyain Their warmth and attention made our trip so much better. Overall, this is a fantastic resort for families. The food quality is consistently high, the staff genuinely care about making your stay comfortable, and the property is beautiful and easygoing. We’d happily return... with more sunscreen packed next time!

    Beautiful hotel amazing country

Wonderful hotel defiantly not 5 star but would definitely go back. If you are used to Mexico, DR hotels and service this is a bit different. What they do great.. The hotel is clean, lush and friendly. The grounds are beautiful as we went in Nov and everything is lush. The weather forecast called for rain every day and we had 1 shower in 8 days. The food is decent, not the best but we enjoyed some meals more than others. The pool is lovely and the beach is wonderful. Be ready to walk the “gauntlet” being harassed by vendors and tour sales they are recentless, it’s a public beach so expect that. I do recommend using Conchalfun to book tours they were outstanding. We went fishing/snorkeling, had 1 huge Spanish Mac and 2 jacks. Trip to Rio Celeste was awesome and zip line though the jungle. He set it up so we could feed monkeys at the end and my daughter loved it. Costa Rica has a charm like no other and this hotel lets it shine. I definitely recommend staying the tours are amazing and hotel is wonderful. Massages on the beach with Sammy “blue table” was best I ever had $25 for 30 min well worth it! Thank you to all the staff who made it nice. Shout out to Kevin the golf cart driver who remembered all our names daily and made it a point to stop and say Pura Vida. We will be back next year. Check out Conchfun for tours Andrie is amazing!

    Amazing honeymoon trip!

My wife and I had an AMAZING stay at the Westin Reserva Conchal! We were there from 10/25/25 to 11/01/25. It was our Honeymoon Trip that we had waited a year to travel and the Westin did not disappoint. As a couple, we stayed stayed at the Westin Club area which was the adults only area that provided a much better vibe for us even though the entire resort provided a very peaceful and harmonious environment throughout our stay. We stayed at Tower 2 and was given our own personal concierges. The pool was in easy walking distance from our Tower as was one of the excellent restaurants (Mediterrean). The beach area was beautiful. The surf during this time was choppy, but I think that was due to the storm in the area(Melissa ). The fitness center is better than many commercial gyms I have used over the years. There's nothing on the grounds that isn't easy to get to by a short walk. When needed, we simply called the service phone and let them know that we needed a ride to wherever we needed to go on the grounds (extended golfcarts). You do not need to venture out to see wildlife. You will see a variety of monkeys, birds, iguanas and Kodi's on the property. This was my 2nd time vacationing in Costa Rica, and the Westin has been by far the best experience. Our daughter's 21st birthday is next year and we are seriously considering celebrating it back at the Westin Reserva Conchal.

    Beautiful resort. One unhonest coworker

I just left yesterdsy and it is a beautiful resort, friendly service and incredible food. Only negative thing I'd have to say is that my raybans were taken out of my sunglass case that were in the bedroom so that put bit of a damper on my experience.

    Amazing vacation destination

The following is a genuine honest review and has not been generated by AI. I’m at a loss for words to fully describe the incredible experience my family and I had at this resort. It exceeded our expectations in every way and was a pleasant surprise. We spent a week there in August and were impressed by the outstanding hospitality, delicious food and drinks, and entertainment. Plus the service was impeccable. No complaints about our accommodations. We booked two junior suites for four guests, though one would have sufficed given how spacious and well-appointed they were. Housekeeping serviced the rooms twice daily, and the staff thoughtfully replenished bottled water each time. Such attention to detail is rare and is much appreciated. Unlike many all-inclusive resorts where long lines and wait times are the norm, everything here was exceptionally well-organized and efficient. What stood out most was the personal touch: the restaurant staff and managers remembered our names and greeted us warmly each time. They even took note of my dietary restrictions and ensured I had safe, delicious options at every meal. Thankfully, there are plenty of gluten-free options at this resort. I didn’t fall ill once during the trip! A special shoutout to Miguel, the manager at the breakfast and lunch buffet, for his exceptional care. I only wish I had noted the names of all the other wonderful staff who went above and beyond. The food was quite good for an all-inclusive resort, with a wide variety of cuisines and dining venues to choose from. The evening entertainment, especially the live music performances, was thoroughly enjoyable. Overall, this resort offers outstanding value for money. I highly recommend it to families with children and couples alike. We can’t wait to return!
