    Not a 5 star property

Let me start by saying I’m not someone who ordinarily leaves reviews, and I feel terrible that I am, but I felt compelled to do so given how bad things are going on this trip and to hopefully put some things into perspective for those who know what a true 5 star hotel really is. I should also prefaced this by saying I typically only stay at 5 star hotels that make World’s 50 Best, Four Seasons, Ritz, Belmond, and Rosewood… so if that’s your speed, then this hotel is definitely NOT for you! And I say that only because maybe I had unrealistic expectations or too high of standards coming to this hotel. After a long day of travel we arrived to no one to welcome us. Check in was extremely unfriendly and no one gave us a map or any introduction to the property. I booked two rooms - one for my husband and I and another for my parents. I booked two standard junior suites since I was covering the trip for my parents as well. I’m positive I got the worst room on property - no natural light, lights were flickering, small and depressing. I the saw my parents and saw theirs was substantially nicer. I also noticed that I had actually booked a pool view and the front desk originally said no I had not…. when I checked my reservation when I got to my room it showed I was actually right. They comped us a bottle of wine to apologize, but that still did not fix the room problem. There was nothing else available other than large ocean view suites that were an extra $900-something per night. After asking, we were moved the following day but this was handled strangely as the person helping us had to go back and ask the manager 3 times. Now being that we are in hospitality, the right thing would have been for the manager just to come out and speak with us… even if it’s to tell us “no.” Next, the beach bar and restaurant are closed which was a major selling point to me so that was very disappointing. Regarding the pools: You can only get service if you ask. There aren’t people walking around at the pool or beach asking if they can get you anything. With seeing rain for the rest of the forecast I decided to go book a massage for each of the next 5 days of my trip only to find out it’s closed! I felt so misled because their website was advertising discounted massages for this time of year. This was extremely upsetting. The gym is not well equipped and pretty beat up. You can’t see the water from the pools and the way the property is constructed just doesn’t make sense to hide everything from the view of the water. Next, the beach is very disappointing. I stayed at Seven Stars last time and wish I had this time. This beach is nothing close to Grace Bay. Next, you’re not in walking distance to anything or any of the restaurants, which I did know and that’s nobody’s fault but mine. The drink prices are absolutely insane. I don’t even pay this much at a Four Seasons or The Ritz Paris. The one good thing is the food is good. I’m so mad at myself for not booking The Ritz, Aman, Wymara or Seven Stars. I shared how the experience was going with my friend at Marriott Bon Voy and the next thing I know the GM of the Ritz called to offer us a private beach dinner since he heard about the “not so great time” we’re having, which was really nice. Unfortunately my stay here is nonrefundable otherwise I would absolutely change hotels.

The Shore Club, the absolute Crown Jewel of Turks and Caicos.

We celebrated our 53rd Wedding Anniversary here and we could not be more pleased. Shore Club is a stunning resort consisting of everything you expect from a top quality resort. From beautifully manicured landscaping, amazing accommodations, fine food, and a friendly and attentive staff. Kerry the manager, has done a brilliant job at hiring incredible people at all levels of service. Everyone (and I mean everyone) was happy, smiling and so incredible helpful. Our butler, Mark Sanchez was fabulous. He saw to our every need. I just can't thank him enough for his attentiveness. Judith at the tour desk was so very helpful at managing an offsite adventure. Our Cabana server Sherrilyn was delightful and went the extra mile to make our experience a pleasant one. We have to say thank you to the breakfast staff: Delores, Angie, Anise, Ademslie, Nihisha, Shaundee, Ronaldson, Gray Junior and of course Chef Micheal for providing excellent service and breakfast each morning. Kerry the manager was so accommodating and helpful when we needed to leave early because of hurricane Mellisa. The Shore Club is the only resort we consider when planning a trip to Turks and Caicos. We are looking forward to scheduling a return trip. When planning a vacation or a special occasion, book The Shore Club, Try it once, and You will never forget it!

    Attention to Detail!

This was our 2nd year in a row at the Shore Club and we can see coming again every year. The hotel is impeccable and not very big which we love! The staff are all so friendly - from Louis who is waiting for us by the pool with a smile each morning to the entire breakfast staff - from Dolores to Chef Michael to Ainslie and all the rest of the ladies. The front desk remember our names and even send champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to celebrate my fiancés birthday. The worst part of it is having to leave! But we’ll be back soon!
