    Very nice stay.

In comparison to last year the Atlantis staff has shown incredible improvement. Friendly, helpful, caring and willing to help. a huge improvement from 1 year ago. My guess is competition is greater with new hotels and they have to step up their game a lot to compete. Pleasantly improved.

    Best EVER! But ...

In many ways this was the best vacation we had ever taken. We travel extensively and typically stay in all-inclusives, but the Atlantis has them all beat with their amazing pools, incredible beach, friendly service, and beautiful grounds with so much to see and do! However, Atlantis is NOT an all-inclusive and this was painfully evident when it came time to eat or drink. Food was super-expensive and travelling with two kids who would gladly eat cereal and PBJ was an eye-popping experience at each meal when the bill came. If you don't care how much you pay for food or what your options are, you cannot find a better place to stay!

    Save your money, friends.

Forgive the length but this is to only help to warn future guests. I was very disappointed in my experience at Atlantis from December 12 - December 15. A trip that was booked for a birthday celebration and a little holiday getaway with the family. Temperature: the resort is unbearably cold. My family and I had to wear our ROOTS WINTER sweaters that we traveled in, every day as we walked through the resort. We ended up walking outside as much as possible. Other guests were clearly uncomfortable as well, I had conversations with others also in sweaters all wondering why the resort is so cold. The temperature really made the time at the resort uncomfortable, and really left a bad taste. Food Poisoning: on Friday December 12th we went to Amber for dinner. I enjoyed the Oxtail Parpadelle. It was delicious, but then I was up all night with food poisoning, intense cramping all night, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, all of it. It lasted the entire night until 5am. I ended up being very dehydrated on Saturday December 13th - my birthday. I went to guest services just to mention the incident, and they asked if I wanted to file a report. I unfortunately did not have the energy to go ahead with it. I told them if I continue to throw up my husband and I will do it, but luckily it was only for the night. To my surprise I wasn't offered a bottle of water by guest services. You guys sell water for $10 USD, which is a complete joke. You really think your guests are made of money. So ya, it would have been nice to be offered one of those $10 bottles of water seeing as I was very dehydrated and sick. Dining: There is an 18% tip on EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING! EVEN COFFEE. The food was mediocre for the price. No authentic Caribbean options. Where was the Bahamian food? It was so obvious that this resort caters heavily to its American tourists, but the cost was a complete loss of anything authentic, any culture, anything remotely interesting. I don't go to the Bahamas to find a Starbucks at every corner. I've visited the entire Caribbean, most use Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans, or other local options, so sad that Lavazza and Starbucks were the main options. Water: you can't provide 2 bottles of water per room a day? Really? I'm incredibly environmentally conscious. Provide Water bottle recycling bins throughout the resort and problem solved. The water situation at Atlantis also felt like being tortured. No ones drinking tap water. We bought a lot of water which increased our spend and made us indulge less in other ways. Riptide: this is a huge oversight on the resort. There needs to be a heigh requirement. When the first wave hit my 4 year old flew into the air and plunged directly under our float. Despite wearing a life jacket the float prevented her from coming up. I had to hop out, fling that damn tube as fast as I could and scoop her up. Literally one of the worst, if not the worst, experiences I've ever had. She was okay thankfully. What did the life guard on duty do? Just walked behind us until the next check point. All the while waves making me bob up and down while holding her, so many times I almost went under, luckily I'm a very strong swimming but holding another person makes it very hard to maneuver in the water. Whats worse, I heard other parents say this also happened to their child! I beat myself up all day, all night, thinking I was a horrible parent for allowing her to go on - the resorts asking for a serious accident at this point, an accident that is preventable. Beach: It was so obvious that the beach is an afterthought. No music, no umbrellas, no cabanas, no staff activities. No ambiance and decor i.e., trees, plants, structures, food trucks, etc., it was worse than the beaches in Canada and that's saying A LOT. You book a vacation to the Caribbean for the BEACH - NOT THE RESORT ONLY, get it together. Pool temperature was unbearable, for my entire family and other guests. I saw so many kids shivering convulsively - it was hard to watch. Saw a few little ones cry that they don't want to go to the waterpark because it's too cold, and their parents trying to convince them it's okay. My kids were freezing, especially my 4 year old, it made the waterpark MUCH less appealing. No hot tubs? We visited in December. Apparently the hot tubs have been an issue for a while. Apparently Atlantis had heated pools once upon a time. But in your winter season you guys didn't think perhaps it would be worth fixing? This was a HUGE blow to our experience, ESPECIALLY given how cold the pools were and how cold the indoor facilities were. I chatted with a few families and we all shared the same disappointment. Towels could only be picked up at only ONE location? What fool made that policy? How can you market yourself as a kids and family friendly resort but make us walk so far for towels? Again, vacationed a lot, towels are usually placed throughout the resort, not one location - absurd. I had blisters from all the walking, and in the shoes I wear to travel to other destinations with no problems. The resort requires WAY too much walking - even with shuttle service available, more conveniently placed towels, coffee shops, ice cream shops, would minimize walking significantly. In my opinion, for the money, the overall experience, it's not worth it. We did go swimming with the Dolphins which was the highlight of the entire trip. But as cool as it was, I've never go back and I'd never recommend anyone I care about to go either.
