  Damian and Marlene’s wedding June 6, 2025

  We held our wedding there june 6. David and all the wait staff was very professional and was very attentive. We had 100 family and friends attend, all of them were very pleased with the resort. We loved every minute of our stay and our wedding was amazing!!! Thank you to all the people that helped us.

  Amazing Experience

  This resort and their staff is just absolutely amazing. We had our wedding here with 40 guests, everyone from the wedding planner, front desk, bartenders and management was an absolute pleasure to deal with. The food at all restaurants was delicious, the resort was always clean, and all the staff we're very helpful and friendly. The jungle atmosphere and beach views are breathtaking, and the vibes here were always good. Special shoutout to Biely, Santos, David and Fernando for making this an extra special experience for us. We will be coming back for years to come.

  Subpar but can improve

  I am currently staying here for the next 4 days and I've been here for 3 days already. I am a well-traveled person and have been to over 60 all inclusive. The hotel itself is very nice and the beach is clean except for the seaweed during the month of May and June. The food at the buffet is support and really nothing spectacular compared to others I have been to. The breakfast is very blah. I have been to the Wyndham 6 months ago and that is one of the better places for food and service however there is no Beach there because of all the rocks. The Reef playacar locks in their food department for the buffet however the Mexican and italian ala carte are very good. Unfortunately there is only two places for a la carte. The service here is one of the worst I've seen in all my travels. I had three plates piled up during breakfast and nobody comes to serve water. They are either on their phones or chit-chatting with each other. Simply awful. I bought it up to the front desk and they said they would look into it however it's the same thing they will respond to this review and nothing will change unfortunately many people at the resort here are not happy with the service after I spoke into a few people. There is a gym here that is simply awful I've been to Cuba and they have better gyms there and that's embarrassing. If you're coming here for a nice gym or expect good food this is not the place you may want to look into other resorts for that. Unfortunately I pay the my premium to stay here and the service is not what I expected. The rooms are dated and the beds are not very comfortable. I have to be coming back here in the next 6 months with a few people and I am definitely not choosing this hotel again. There is a lot of hotels on the strip to choose from

  I would definitely stay here again.

  My wife and I have traveled all over Mexico and the Carribean islands. Previously, we had stayed at Coco Reef twice. The resort travel accommodations to and from the airport was timely and flawless in a new van with no other passengers. I must give a shout out to the extraordinary staff who excelled in friendliness and service. Bartenders, Cesar, near the lobby would locate sporting events for us on his sport network. He was attentive and kindhearted. Other names that pop out are Santos at the beach bar. The entertainment personnel were great. Diane at food service was too sweet. The rooms were kept clean. Reef Playacar made a concerted effort to clean the sargassum (seaweed) by labor. The large Rui Hotel next door had heavy equipment and did a poor job of keeping after their beach sargassum. I love the tropical trees and vegetation in the center of the resort. Unfortunately, there was an area with a foul ordor. We had a couple's massage at the resort which was absolutely wonderful. The resort entertainment was okay but usually only ran about 45 minutes. The Michael Jackson Tribute was the BEST. Monday's Karaoke show was fun, and I got to befriend several other resort guests from Chile and Uruguay. They did have a couple of bands with soundtracks and some instrumentation that was quite entertaining and danceable. The peddlers on the beach had the lowest prices for jewelry and other items. The peddlers on the resort near the pools were rip-off artist. Do not use the pharmacy next door in front the Rui Hotel for their prices is extreme. Wait to go to 5th Avenue where they are plentiful and one-third of the cost. I was disappointed that the resort did not offer free rides to their sister resort(s) as they had in the past. Now, you need a gold bracelet at a cost of $21.00 per day for this service. Coffee makers were not offered in most rooms, unless you paid the extra fees. I didn't mind going to the Chulavista buffet restaurant to retrieve coffee and expresso. There was so much food to choose from at all meals with a great staff.

  Family friendly resort

  My husband and I were blessed to have our family vacation/wedding at The Reef Playacar. I will say I questioned us having it here due the reviews read. I started getting extremely anxious at the fave of knowing my wedding party and our wedding would be accommodated to as well as we were looking for. I also was amazed at the secluded area The reef playacar was located in. It was a beautiful secured area where we were comfortable to walk around at night with beautiful homes and other resorts. All that worrying for nothing. They were more than accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we had what was needed. The grounds are beautiful, clean and very welcoming. I will say some staff can make you feel more welcoming but everyone has their own personality. Many thanks to Beily, our wedding coordinator. She helped our specialty day. It was the smoothest I could have expected it to be. The buffet was delicious and provided all that our kids friends and family needed. David is the manager over the restraunts from my understanding and he was hands down amazing. He was attentive to my husband and I even when we were looking for it. His service was amazing! Great job David! Lastly we want to thank Fernando who is over the front desk. We were constantly looking for answers and corrections. Fernando dealt with us every moment calmly and made each situation as comforting as possible. Thank you Reef playacar for your hospitality and kindness. We will be back!!
