Beautiful hotel, relaxing stay
My husband and I had a relaxing four day stay at the Fives between April 10-14. The property is absolutely beautiful. The rooms were huge, well decorated and very comfortable. We were upgraded from a junior suite to a one bedroom suite and it was so nice to have a separate living room and kitchen area. The bed was so comfortable. This hotel is perfect for a quicker getaway or one where you want to relax, but you might get a bit bored on a longer trip as there is not much in the way of entertainment (but that is just fine with us). It was a nice chill crowd, mostly couples or small groups of adults, a few small kids. It has more of a "hotel" vibe than a resort. The hotel is a 15 min walk to Puerto Morelos, which has lots of restaurants and shops. Really cute touristy area that I would strongly recommend checking out. Take the two reviews from April 14 with a hug grain of salt. Those commenters caused a massive hour-long scene in a dinner restaurant because they felt they weren't served fast enough (we had no issues), screaming at the hostess and wait staff. It was truly appalling and my actual only complaint with the hotel is that they did not shut it down immediately, for the sake of the employees and everyone else in the restaurant. They also took up 6 chairs at the beach between 3 people, all day. The comments about limited restaurants being open at one time are generally correct, and an option other than a full sit down meal would have been nice. I think if they opened a "grab and go" option for breakfast and lunch, it would mostly solve this issue, as someone who didn't want a full meal could still grab a yogurt and fruit and head to the pool. Although the dinner restaurants didn't take reservations, you could put your name on the list and come back when your table was ready. But really, it was not a huge issue since we weren't in a hurry. That all said - the food was great. The breakfast at RoMarleys was amazing, and the dinner at Al Mare was too. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. We never had any issue getting beach or pool chairs, although I agree there aren't a ton (but it isn't a huge resort so this makes sense). I was very appreciative that the staff DID help people find chairs, and moved belongings that were "saving" chairs for hours on end, with no person in sight. It is one thing to put your bag down and go to the bathroom or to the bar, but people who "hold" chairs for 8 hours while they wander around the hotel and only sit there for 2 hours are causing the exact problem they are complaining about. The adult's pool on the rooftop deck was never busy and we had no issue getting a spot in the morning. Tip, they unlock the patio at 9am and we would go up then and have our pick of chairs without issue. We sat there until we wanted lunch around 1-2 and then gave up the chairs for someone else. It was really beautiful up there (and there was a bar) and we preferred it to the beach. I went to the spa which was also great. Had a fantastic massage. We would absolutely recommend the Fives Oceanfront for a shorter trip where you just want to relax and enjoy some good food. Interested to try their larger properties as well.

Amazing, relaxing, quiet vacation
The Fives Ocean Front is an amazing all inclusive Hotel. The service and food is amazing. The beach is always in your view and at your fingertips. This makes it unique from a larger resort. If you prefer a larger resort or looking to party-- this is not your place (although the drinks are fabulous) However, if you want an easy, relaxing, quiet, intimate experience this is the place for you. There is not a buffet, but we enjoyed the more foodie experience and the craft coffee drinks were no extra charge. We enjoyed lounging on the cushioned beach chairs, using the gym that overlooked the ocean, gazing in the ocean from the roof top pool (adults only-- but our teenager was allowed), and walking in to town. Shout out to the following Staff: Karen- reception/ customer service Gabriella- Beach waitress Fernando- Bartender Elvis- Waiter Really the entire waitstaff

Very Nice Stay at The Fives Oceanfront
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days at this hotel. We did the AI but walked into town for a few dinners and to enjoy live music and dancing. PROS the location. Right on the beach beautiful view of the ocean from our balcony. Easy walk into town and you can walk for miles on the beach. Rooms- one bedroom Suite was massive and beautiful! Great balcony! We did hear the people moving around above us. Food- fantastic food! Great selection Staff - what can I say? The staff was wonderful! Zoi was such a treat as hostess! Made us smile at each meal. Luis, Elvis, and Sergio (sp?) were fantastic servers. Gabriella did a wonderful job serving on the beach. Fidel at the bar 10/10! Thank you everyone! I know I’m Forgetting some names but the staff were all wonderful. Rooftop- lovely spot for adults only. Food especially the sushi was great!!! This hotel is super clean! Everything is spotless. Very good job by housekeeping! CONS yes each meal especially lunch and dinner became events because they are slow. 1.5 to 2 hrs each. We knew this from reviews we had read. There should be 2 people working the coffee bar in the morning. Way too busy for one. Having to wait to sign the bill after each meal was frustrating as we were AI and sometimes it would be a 15-20 Minute wait just to sign. No entertainment in the evenings. We knew this but there’s a beautiful huge lobby that would be perfect for some nice low key entertainment a few evenings a week. Bars close at 10 pm so we made our own parties with people we met there or went into town for music. The bar in my opinion should be open until 11. Lots of seaweed in the water so you have to swim over it to get out deeper. We enjoyed our stay at the Fives Oceanfront. Loved Puerto Morelos. This hotel is very good but could be great!

Beware Hidden Fees - No refund
I stayed at The Fives Oceanfront in April 2025 and purchased the all-inclusive package. Despite this, I was required to leave a 3,000 peso deposit. Since my credit card had been compromised, I used my Visa Debit and was assured the deposit would be refunded at check-out. Unfortunately, when I went to check out, I was told I needed to speak with the manager to process the refund—who wasn’t available at the time. I had a flight to catch and couldn’t wait, so they provided me with the manager’s email address. I emailed him from the airport and again two days later, and still haven’t received a response or my deposit back. This is especially frustrating because I had read reviews warning about hidden fees. I even went to the front desk the night before to confirm I’d get the deposit back in the morning, as I was leaving early. I made every effort to avoid exactly this situation. I still have not received my deposit back. Beware of this policy and lack of accountability.
