Awesome resort
This resort is beautiful and the food was outstanding. Everything was always clean and there was always someone there that was willing to help us. The staff were all extremely pleasant. It is a smaller hotel and they remembered our names every time we saw one of them. Diego and Nimzy were awesome to deal with anytime we needed help. Will definitely be going back there soon.

10/10 Holiday!!
We had the best 10 days stay at The Fives Oceanfront, and we wished we could stay for another 10! The room was gorgeous, the drinks were outstanding and don’t get us started on the food, some of the best things we’ve ever eaten ( shout out to Fernando who was always our waiter, loveliest man ). We had the best time snorkelling and exploring many different places on our stay, and the hotel were very helpful to organise it all for us. I could go on for a while about how amazing our stay was! The pools were so peaceful, having guacamole and margaritas there was a BIG highlight of ours!! Thank you to the wonderful staff who were there within our stay, from the bar staff to lovely ladies on the front desk..THANKYOU! Joe and Teddy x

Stay literally anywhere else in Puerto Morelos
For a luxury boutique hotel, this hotel falls short. While the rooms are a generous size the maintenance at the property as a whole is not a priority. Several items would be an easy fix, like ensuring there are no burnt out light bulbs, or properly painting and dusting. They advertise 3 restaurants and 3 bars which is not entirely accurate. There's a daytime restaurant that closes at 5. The dinner restaurant only open for reservations, and a pool side bar at the adult only pool with select food service. The 3 bars would be the adult only poolside bar, reception bar and the main bar by the all ages pool and day time restaurant. The beach area has a separate menu from the day time restaurant but it's the same thing. Most of what was on the menus available online is not available onsite, coffee machine was broken at the coffee bar in the day time restaurant, the dinner place only had half of what was on the menu, and I experienced the same with lunch. Bars are open 10am to 10am, so you won't be having a bloody mary with your limited breakfast. The adult only pool is also closed by 10pm. You are given a bracelet as your room key and it's color identifies you as a European plan, all inclusive, member or owner. It however does nothing to help the staff make charges to your room. This is a cashless property so everything is added to your room charges. And anytime you order a drink, or go to be seated in a restaurant you are asked your room number, you are then asked again your room number when the waiter comes to your table. This seems like a major security issue, with people all over the property announcing their room numbers multiple times for all to hear. There is 24 hour room service for food, not bar drinks and on the all inclusive plan it is $5USD/100 peso for each delivery. The staff are kind to guest, but I have never seen people treat their co-workers as poorly as I saw at this property. I brought this to management and they did not care either. It is only a matter of time before that toxicity pours over into guest experiences. The concierge service is advertised as 24 hours but is 7am to 9pm. And has their list of tours but can not or will not assist with finding anything outside their "offerings". There is a website they make you use to view menus, spa services, and to speak to the concierge so if you are wanting an unplugged vacation you will not get it here. The rooms are not soundproof, or even sound dampening. From hearing the leaf blower out front to the neighbour's opening their curtains or patio doors, or the people upstairs moving chairs over the floor. A number of times sounds from the surroundings we're so loud and clear I thought someone else was in the room with me. There is a group of people that work 10am to 5pm cleaning the seaweed from the beach, and they rake the area between the beach loungers in the am. The Bali bed are a small pole structure with roof and rope sides with 2 loungers pushed together inside, they have a cover to make it appear as one bed, with just enough room to walk beside them, but again are not as advertised. There are also some "nests" available that are slightly bigger then a lounger and have some shade offering. Both have additional charges and are not included in the all inclusive plan. The activities onsite included things like mosaic class and a guacamole class, but are only offered mid day (around 1pm). I was disappointed with the offerings/services so I did not attend the spa, to avoid further disappointment, but it seemed they were struggling to attract people to their service. They set up a shoulder massage chair just off the elevator area and offered 10 or 15 minute free massages and through the 8 days I was at the property I never saw anyone take advantage of the offering. My stay was 8 days, 7 nights mid October. By night 3, I already regretted booking my vacation at this property. I did book the all inclusive plan because it was cheaper then the European plan when booking directly with the property but not worth even the lower cost. Booking direct they upgraded me from a junior suite to a 1 bedroom. I was told this was better because the junior suites have nothing to look at out the window. But first you didn't come to Puerto Morelos to sit in your room and look out a window, go outside "touch grass". But also the upgraded room still pointed in the same direction of the junior suites it was just on the corner, so you could look around the side of the building and get your "partial ocean view". Puerto Morelos downtown port-side is about a 15 minute walk. You will or should spend more time in town then at the property. Also be sure to visit the colonial-side which is a short taxi, uber or collectivo ride away. Collectivo can be waived down about 2 blocks from hotel. Taxis are always outfront, and ubers were never more than a 10 minute wait and far cheaper than taxi. You could spend an entire month or more exploring all this charming town has to offer. Additionally, Cancun and Playa Del Carmen are around a $ 20 USD Uber ride away, or take the collectivo (there are lots of YouTube videos explaining how to use the collectivo to get to the other towns). The town offers sooooo much more then this property and there are far more affordable properties closer to downtown portside that are beach front they are not all inclusive but the all inclusive offerings do not justify the price. Please don't take my word for it, join some of the Puerto Morelos Facebook groups and read the various reviews and discussions on The Fives. I wish I would have taken those comments with more consideration, but instead I am here writing another similar review.

anniversary trip
This resort is gorgeous and we had the all inclusive package. We ate to our hearts content and it was delicious. At El Mare restaurant for dinner I recommend the Salmon. Gustavo gave a wonderfully relaxing meditation and music class and offers other fun activities, so look up his activities. Eli greeted us upon arrival and told us where everything was and how there was a market place and leaning light house within walking distance among the beach. We had a private jacuzzi on our balcony that was so nice to relax in with our view of the beach at the end of the day. Highly recommend this lovely resort.

FANTASTIC!
We had the most fabulous holiday!!! We arrived to a wonderful welcome from the incredibly helpful and kind Eli, who looked after us throughout our trip. The check in was easy and included a glass of cold fizzy. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It’s is exceptionally clean at all times with an abundance of soft clean fluffy towels for the beach or pool. Our room was mind blowing. The bed was enormous with very high quality cotton linen, the view was sublime and it was SO clean. The attention to detail was wonderful. The food was delicious, particularly the breakfast and lunch. The only thing I will say is I would have liked more Mexican food choices. The pools were both beautiful infinity pools, and the beach set up was perfect with ample very comfortable sun loungers. The sand is so soft and white. The staff at the hotel were all wonderful. They could not have been anymore friendly or helpful. The whole experience was 10 Stars.
