Less than pleased with the service he was being offered, Francisco "Pancho" Villa, one of the most prominent Generals in the Mexican Revolution, once fired a bullet in the ceiling of a cantina to get the attention of the staff. Thankfully there is no such service shortfall at Cantina 1910, only a wide selection of local and international beer; some of the best tequila and mezcal in the country are also on display, do not miss tequila & mezcal tastings.

May 12, 2025Dreamy Destination Wedding & Trip to The Fives
We chose the Fives Beach Hotel & Residence as the location for our destination wedding, we wouldn't change a single thing! We had a group of 60 (43 adults, 17 children/teens) come to the resort. The staff is so helpful and friendly, you're always greeted and asked if you need help with anything. The rooms are very clean and the housekeeping does a great job every day. We didn't actually meet our specific ambassador assigned to our building (we did not seek them out because we had wedding staff helping us) but my family's ambassador, Alberto knew us and would always seek us out to ask if we needed anything during our stay! We had some private events so we did not go to every restaurant. I had no complaints about any of the food, but we did leave wishing we were able to explore more restaurants! The only odd thing I noticed is that there was not an abundance of chips and pico/guac, but again it could have been because I didn't specifically ask for it! Our biggest takeaway was that we wish the restaurants offered to-go options, sometimes we were running from one place to another and wished we could bring some food to go. We had a One Bedroom Penthouse and the room was beautiful. We used the rooftop for a small gathering with our party one night, and we had our son traveling with us so we stayed in the "bedroom" portion and he had a rollaway bed in the common area. The entire space was very open and large so we didn't feel like we were on top of each other or anything. We were in building 18 which is a "newer" section, it's a bit more removed and quiet but we noticed that the older buildings had some different amenities like soaking tubs in the bathroom and ours did not. None of this really bothered us but may be a personal preference for others. We did not have super hot water in the shower, just lukewarm, again it was something I could have reported but every time I got out of the shower and into the heat outside I would instantly forget about it! The mangrove boardwalk area is beautiful and we loved seeing monkeys, iguanas, coatis, and raccoons roaming the resort. It was all very spread out and beautiful. They do have a regular shuttle service to get you from one end of the resort to another. Biggest takeaways: I would have my wedding there again in a heartbeat, it was so magical, as a large group we were always able to find a place to gather, the Bali beds on the beach are so worth the investment especially with a group you can all come and go, and the staff is beyond incredible! We worked closely with Isabel and Aimee on the wedding team and Valeria was my planner. Thoughts for next time: We wish we had more time to explore more restaurants (maybe if more dinner restaurants were open for lunch), we wish they offered more to-go options, we actually wish they leaned into Mexican food more! (less international options) because it was delicious, next time we would love to try more of the activities and events they have! We were just too busy this time.

The staff made this unforgettable!
The service and attentiveness of the staff at The Fives is wonderful. From the moment we arrived our ambassadors, Veronica and Omar, met our every need! Their attention to every detail was outstanding. Erik planned our excursion and Claudia, Teri, Luis were great masseuses. Miguel and Rodolfo created a lovely rooftop birthday dinner for us which was perfect! Juan in Arrezzo Italian restaurant was so much fun and made our night memorable. The member dinner was amazing with lobster and steak as well as a fire show! The Bali beds are nice!! We loved seeing the monkeys everywhere. What a nice resort!

Our Fifth Visit to The Fives
This was our 5 visit to The Fives since 2019 and while some things have chanced since then we still love this place and would never choose to go somewhere else. Pros Amazing People! We spend most of our time at the Palmas pool and swim-up bar. The bar staff, especially Hector, took care of us like family. Our drinks were never empty. They even brought us bottles of champagne strait to our patio that was beside the pool. The entertainment crew at Palmas also kept the fun going all week! The breakfast serving crew at Brassieres deserve special kudos. Many of the servers have been there for years and they know what they are doing!!!! The food is amazing as always. A special note for any guests that haven’t been in a while…ORIOLA is back open at the beach area! They now have a cantina there making wood fired pizza and they are delicious! Nice to have a seating area again to eat lunch without having to leave the beach. Rooms were clean and housekeeping is excellent. We had a 2 bedroom suite that backed onto a pool. We spend most of our vacation on the patio. Restaurants are all first come, first served. As early eaters we did not have to wait at all when we went as soon as the restaurants opened for dinner. Cons The fact that I am not still there on vacation is the only con. We love it there and can’t wait to go back. Our Families Food highlights AREZZO Filet de Manzo (filet mignon) Caprese Beetroot Carpaccio Chocolate Cake BRASSIERE Lunch Blackened Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Carrot Cake MESTIZO Eloltes (order it off the kids menu) Mexican Carosel KOH THAI Tamarind Whole Fried Fish…I order this every single time I visit and it’s always the best thing I eat during the week.

Beyond expectations; simply amazing
Do not hesitate - book it now! The vacation exceeded our expectations; the food, the resort, the pools, the plaza, the activities, the drinks, did we mention the food … could go on! The staff though? Brought it to life and made it that much better: Camilo, Angie, Andrea, Monse, Benji, Eddie, Dani, and Giovani went above and beyond and clearly love their jobs! After weeks of searching, this one kept coming back to the top of our list and I’m so glad we pulled the trigger.

Best experience ever
Best place ever, staff so friendly and helpful. Food delicious, Lizards Bar was a fabulous healthy lunch option, Israel our server was so helpful and nothing too much trouble. Many other all inclusive resorts restrict how often you visit the A La Carte restaurants, not this place. Every restaurant is absolutely 5*. Love this place and will undoubtedly return.
