We arrived the day before the travel restrictions began March 19th, but stayed 3 full days. The front desk was amazing and changed my room to a double casita as requested. Only negative about the room is the lighting. It was very dim and hard to see when applying makeup. We enjoyed the basket of pastries, orange juice and coffee left outside our door in the mornings. We hung out at the Fiesta mainly but went on 3 of the excursions at the Explorean. First kayaking, then snorkeling and then to tequila farm. All amazing! They never once led us to believe they would stop anything b/c most people had left. They did close the gym (who could blame them), and on the second day they stopped the buffets. You could order anything cooked to order and they would make it fancy. We enjoyed breakfast over looking the ocean each morning. We ate at 2 specialty restaurants the Rosota- twice, and the Penninsula. They had closed the Mexican restaurant the 3rd night we were there. We ate the fish/shrimp tacos, gucamole chips over at Fiesta several times and just couldn't get enough. The Fiesta is so close it really seemed like one resort. We didn't drink at the Explorean but the drinks at Fiesta were just okay. The frozen drinks had alot of large chunks of ice in them and we ordered a Mai Tai that was so bad we poured it out. Service everywhere was incredible and I felt really bad for the staff missing out on tips from the lack of tourists. We will return when we can stay longer.
Just returned from a week-long stay. The property is quiet compared to it's sister resort next door, Fiesta. The room was spacious and clean although we found the walls to be a bit thin - we heard the screaming children next door in the evenings, but luckily they checked out after day 2. The food was great. I dont think we had a bad meal. Our favorite being the Italian and Asian restaurants on Fiesta's property. Breakfast at the Explorean side was simple, but good and quiet. We must have had 4 lunches at Ceviche by the water. Their shrimp tacos were addictive, plus it has a great view. We chose this resort because daily activities were included at no extra cost. We did two snorkels and the paddle boarding. We missed out on the bike ride due to a scheduled diving day, but the bikes looked brand new. The staff here work hard and were so friendly- from people sweeping the sidewalks to the young man that meticulouslycleaned the pool- they all looked up from working to say "hola". Thanks in particular to the friendly reception staff: Abigail, Dayanara and Victor. Renata was awesome as our activities organizer. A special thanks to all the wait staff at the various restaurants and bars like Anna, Aaron (serving drinks on the hot sand), Arturo, Jose (at Ceviche). Wish I could remember all their names... If you want a relaxing all inclusive resort at a reasonable price, STAY HERE!

Just got back from a 7 day vacation in Cozumel. My GF and I stayed at the Explorean which is part of Fiesta Americana. It is a smaller hotel and further back from the beach. It is steps from its sister hotel. The units are in a quiet tropical jungle setting. So if you want to get away from the loud obnoxious drunks that talk all night, book a room here. No tv in rooms which is fine. We brought an iPad and watched tv on a few nights. It has its own pool and chairs and beds to use around the pool. It has its own restaurant and bar, so the lines and crowds were non-existent. You also get to use Fiesta's pool and others restaurants and beach area. We usually did breakfast at the Explorean then the Ceviche Grill on the beach for lunch. Then used a mix of the other restaurants for dinner. All the food was good. I loved the Ceviche Grill and the Peninsula Restaurant the most. The servers were all very good. Part of the lure of the Explorean was the daily activities that they had. These are all included free when you book with them. All the activities were fun and exciting. I have been to Mexico many times and have booked a lot of excursions. These were very good. The guides that were with us were all very enthusiastic and friendly. Always making sure we were having fun and answering any questions we had. Renata, Ruben, Joshua, Vega, Luis, and Alvaro were the guides we had during our week there and were very energetic and considerate. Even when we were just walking around the hotel grounds and saw one of them, they would come up and say hi and make sure we were good. Would definitely suggest family and friends to book a stay with them and make sure to do the excursions with them.
My husband & I were looking for a quiet, laid back resort to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary & were delighted to find The Explorean! Upon arriving, we were greeted warmly with cool hand cloths & a fruity, refreshing , cold drink. Our room was nice & clean with a very comfy bed. The sweet cleaning ladies did an excellent job all week refreshing the room. We both have Fibromyalgia pain & found the mattress & pillows made for a very restful sleep. The small fridge stocked with cold drinks was an added bonus. An in room safe was also provided. The out door porch with a jungle view was very nice to relax on & we were never bothered by bugs. Really loved dining at our restaurant as well as Fiesta Americana restaurants without requiring reservations. Our favorite was fish at the La Cevicheria. Especially the fish tacos! We often ate breakfast & other meals at the buffet, Vina del Mar as well as ice cream & coffee at the Coffee Corner. What really sold us on booking the Explorean was the daily excursions that were included. They did not disappoint because the guides Ruben, Vega, Joshua, Luis, & Gerardo (afraid I may have forgotten someone?) were fun, knowledgeable & professional while being very considerate of our needs. We were provided with delicious food, drinks, towels ect. All equipment was in very good condition & the boats for snorkeling trips were large & comfortable ( saw a beautiful Eagle Ray ). Ruben even sent pictures of us by e-mail. We loved this since my husband & I don't have many pics of us together! Snorkeling on our own outside the Fiesta was very fun also. We saw a variety of gorgeous fish & a young Eagle Ray. Thank You so much to the staff at The Explorean (especially Abagail) for making us feel at home!
The only resort that I have ever really really wanted to go back to.
I have stayed at many wonderful places in MX and loved them all for various reasons. But, for us, this place was special. We came right before the American travel advisories for the Covid pandemic. SO much of this place has all ready been covered but for us, the ability to take advantage of the low key quiet that the Explorean had to offer or head over to the Fiesta and enjoy the party atmosphere was wonderful. We loved every minute of it. We loved the turquoise ocean and thankfully brought water shoes because that was a must for ocean swimming. We loved borrowing the snorkel equipment and snorkeling right in front of the Fiesta. We loved the shrimp tacos and the traditional margaritas that weren't from a frozen mixer. Our excursions were safe and fun. Mostly though, it was the people that work there who captured out hearts. My list will include the ones that I was able to write down. Renata, Josh and Reuben, our travel guides, so competent. Alfonso and Roberto bartenders and waiters, so friendly and professional. GIlberto, Fermi, Valitri(sp?), Hector, Vianey, Diana and Atruro, hostesses, waiters and waitreses, loved them all. Our housekeepers, Reyna and Isabel. We were acutely aware that when we left their futures were uncertain as the pandemic is shutting down travel so much. And we hope that they are all able to support their families and themselves during this time. Thank you to all of them.
