Not very pleasant
I’m on my 1st out of 5 nights here and already thinking of changing my hotel. The reception person who checked us in should not be working in hospitality. He was so rude, unfriendly and just not willing to help. We asked for an upgrade (since it is one of the Platinum Amex benefits and Gold Hilton Honor member) he said it is not applicable. Which I know is not true since there is plenty of hotel availability. He gave us the wrong bracelets to access the hotel facilities - we had to go back to get another ones He gave us a room key that did not open the car Parking gate. When asked about the wifi he said we can access with the room number which did not work. We had to call again and another agent said we needed a password. The room we have has a weird smell and AC is too loud! We have only been here for a few hours and I am already thinking my vacation will be ruined due to lack of service.

This is a formidable place to spend a few days enjoying the seaside plus a great resort and the people who care for you!
My wife and I came for an event (also in the Diplomat Resort, Grand Ballroom West, great venue!), and stayed at the hotel. Excellent service, including our receptionist (whom we had met before in January), Mr. Kinred, who was extremely kind and relatable, and treated us excellently, as always. We spent a couple of nights enjoying everything there is in the resort, including the shops, the Steak Restaurant (best food ever!), plus our room that had a super view to the ocean (see the photo of a lovely sunrise!). The pool and the beach are taken care excellently well plus they respect the nesting of turtles on the beach sand area (see the photo). Unforgettable experience! Thanks Kinred and Diplomat Beach Resort!

Good and Very Bad
I traveled to the diplomat for a large work conference recently. I use a wheelchair for mobility and was happy to have a nice room with TWO beds and a roll in shower, which can be hard to find sometimes. This was helpful as I travel with my PCA. I stayed on the 25th floor and the housekeeping staff was so friendly and kind each day. The catering team in the convention staff was also wonderful in assisting me with getting a plate together so that I could remain mostly independent. There were two women who helped me throughout the week, one named Anne who was so nice and authentically genuine. I don’t remember the other woman’s name but she was equally kind. I can’t rate this property higher though because of the check out experience I had. I have to rent a piece of mobility equipment called a hoyer lift. Typically this is delivered to the hotel, and bell services is able to bring it to the room or my PCA will pick it up. It’s a simple device that rolls on wheels, very easy to push with handles. During checkout, my PCA was already managing both of our pieces of luggage and other bags and our taxi had arrived early. I asked bell services if they could bring the hoyer down as the rental company would be coming by shortly to pick it up. The gentleman at the bell services desk was extremely rude, and did not take time to understand but went straight into saying he was going to need to charge me a fee. If he had been accommodating, he doesn’t know that I am a heavy tipper. I have never had this issue EVER at a hotel and I travel extensively. I had to get my key reissued (front desk person didn’t know what to say or do) since I had left my keys in the room, and pay the running meter on the taxi while my PCA went back up to bring it down to bell services. Human decency when you see someone in a wheelchair and their aide struggling already to get out the door and you’re making life harder is unnecessary. It was dehumanizing and overall bad service. I’ve had better service at 2-star properties.

Weary traveler assisted by Kindred, best front desk team member
The incredible service began at the front desk, with Kindred. Kindred's smile and warmth was immediate, professional and helpful. I had accidentally booked the wrong night, through points. He talked me off the ledge, talked me thru the process. The room was amazing, immaculate, modern and comfortable. I live in hotels about half of my year, for business. This hotel is a Hilton standout. And, Kindred, thank you so much for assisting the weary traveler with excellent 5 star care. I'll be back

“Kindred” was AWESOME!!!
From start to finish Kindred at the front desk made our stay everything!!! With his kindness, warmth and “can do” attitude he aimed to please. It’s all about hospitality and guest experience and kindred excelled in those qualities!!! Our ocean room was gorgeous on the 32nd floor, steakhouse Prime was excellent, great food and cocktails. Very accommodating and staff was super nice and pleasant, Mirella in the Point Royal restaurant was lovely and greeted us every morning with a smile. Overall a wonderful stay, we will be back!
