it's all about the view.
If you can post a negative review about this place after you get a look at that ocean you probably don't deserve your upper middle class position in society. Are there negative things about the tamarijn? Sure; it's showing its age a bit, it's a bit pricey and lacked luxury, there's not a ton for tweens and teens and if you want to nitpick; they could do a better job cleaning the rooms. The air conditioner had years of dust on it that I cleaned. The rooms are relatively small and not full of amenities. Although, in this somewhat humorous negative list, the beds on the internet are listed as queens and they were actually queens, so the room is small but they have queens, so, to me, the size of the bed is more important than the room. I couldn't figure out how to get the tv to work until i fiddled with the plugs. It wasn't plugged in. Do you know why it wasn't plugged in? you guessed it, the view. So who cares about the tv. Once I figured it out, i turned it off and went out on the balcony with a cold beer and a book. There is not a ton of pool room but we seemed to be able to get a space at the tamarijn's pool whenever needed. The divi is another situation altogether. The divi, to which you have access is a larger complex with three pools but they are tiny and the chairs are grabbed up pretty quickly. I read someone's review that said they had no problem getting a palapa on the beach but that was not my experience. They were claimed by 8 am. We were there seven days and there was not one available until dinner every day. by then the sun was right in your face, so not easy to read a book. If you really enjoy a good nitpick the sandpaper beach towels are not good and they are a horrid green colour. This was the first place i've been to where they aggressively monitor those towels. Man, does the wind howl through that island. I'm not a huge fan of Balashi beer, it was better in the cans i purchased from the local IGA across the street. I kept those in the fridge as they don't give you any for your room. at some of the bars you could get heineken. Ok, i'm done with the little things. Again, if you want to complain, there are things to complain about. These are just fyi and as you can tell some of these things aren't sincere complaints but i read a lot of reviews and people complain about some weird stuff. Oh, if you are not so mobile this resort may be less useful for you. There are shuttles all over the place but they don't drive along the scenic route. and at the tamarijn you might have to get over the rocks to get into the water. This didn't bother me but i could see it bothering a lot of people. I had decent swim shoes and I was on vacation in Aruba, ffs. However, it's so beautiful and the food is quite good, even the snack bars. We had no problems getting restaurant reservations except one night at the palm grill, they seated us almost 40 minutes late. We were a group of eight and there seemed to be multiple large groups that night who didn't want to leave. We ate at both buffets (tamarijn and divi) and went to all the restaurants except ginger. I am not sure why but we just didn't get to it. There is enough variety that I don't think we hit a theme for the food twice. There are staples for the kids and just plain grilled meat so they didn't complain although i think with 4 kids they went through about 100 pizzas from the snack bars. Sadly, i have to say that the divi's snack bar had a better cook in charge of the pizza oven or maybe more time because the tamarijn's should be cooked a smidge longer. The wait staff and the bartenders all perform their jobs well. On a busy night at the main bar we had to wait like 2 minutes before we caught the bartenders eye, once. I mean, they might not sing to you like everyone in Jamaica but all of the bartenders remembered you no matter how busy. And, you can drink the water out of the tap. That is absolutely huge in my opinion and it might go a long way in explaining the cost of Aruba in general. Infrastructure is not free and desalinating ocean water is not cheap. I would recommend this resort, if you have the means, because it is pricey and don't expect luxurious amenities. The food is good, the drinks are cold, the resort is more than needed, it's safe to walk along the beach for miles and the island speaks for itself; stunning.
Great vacation for the whole family
Tamarijn resort was the perfect spot for a three generation family vacation. There were so many food options, beverages and activities throughout the week. The nice thing is that Divi Aruba, the sister resort is also an option for daily food and activities. The staff at both places was friendly and everything was very clean. At Tamarijn, every room is ocean front and is steps from the beach. We will be returning to Tamarijn/Divi
Great All Inclusive With Some Limitations
Our vacation at this all-inclusive resort was from 11/Feb/2020 to 18/Feb/2020. Overall, we were very impressed with this resort from the moment we checked-in until check-out. The staff was always friendly, approachable and helpful, if you required it. Our room, located in Building 25, was at the very end of the resort which involved long walks to and from various restaurants located near the lobby area. The room itself was smallish and dated but clean with an oceanfront view as advertised - so really, no complaints. Housekeeping was always great. As I mentioned above, our room was at the very end of the resort and my spouse recently developed difficulties walking long distances. Thankfully, the resort has a shuttle service that will pick up and drop off at your building location. There was only one pool available at the Tamarijn. It was located near the lobby area and as I had mentioned a long walk if you are situated near Building 25. This was one of the limitations I refer to in my title. As well, if you are on the beach near Building 25, it was again a long walk for an alcoholic beverage. Perhaps another outdoor bar located round Building 25 would be useful. The specialty restaurants were all amazing. The food served was delicious and the service excellent at both the Tamarijn and the Divi All Inclusive. We did all of the specialty restaurants (Ginger, Red Parrot, PureLime and Palm Grille). We were never disappointed. Finally, I would replace the Mixpresso machines with real coffee machines. The one in our room worked sporadically with mixed results. Perhaps adding a stocked bar fridge (included in the cost) to each room would also be useful due to the lack of outdoor bars down near Building 25. The price was right, the beach and weather were great, and so, I would have no problems recommending this resort.
3rd Visit to Aruba. First time at the Tamarijn.
The first 2 years we stayed at the Divi All Inclusive. This is our first time at the Divi Tamarijn. We are having a lovely experience and there is literally nothing to complain about. After thinking hard I could only come up with that the rooms are small and a little run down. However, we knew that going in. The beach is amazing. The staff is great. It is clean. Food is really good (above average) for an all inclusive (and we have stayed at 15+). And.....the weather is beautiful, of course! Compared to the Divi All inclusive, the rooms are slightly larger there. All the same amenities. The Tamarijn is more spread out but you get ocean front rooms as an offset.
Relaxing & Easy
This was an easy and relaxed trip for our family. We almost exclusively stayed on resort/sister resort aside from a brief shopping trip, snorkel trip, and tour of the aloe farm. The weather is perfect! Windy but nice. Our kids loved the beaches and pool. We borrowed kayaks one day too. Food was fine. The buffet had enough choices to satisfy many tastes. European and american offerings at breakfast. At any meal time you can have things made to order at counters. The kids loved raiding the ice cream box. Be sure to book dinner reservations. We did but often had to take late meals to go to the places we wanted. Over all it was a relaxing, sunny vacation that we all enjoyed.
