2020 Vacation - Game Changer
Hello to my SATP family. I know I do take some time to think about my trip and the experience I had each year before I post my review. This year that has been a lot to take into account given the unforeseen nature of COVID-19 that has effected people every where to the extremes. I am also one personally effected by this horrific pandemic we have all had to face head on as I lost my job due to this nightmare along with many many other folks and that includes all my family at SATP. I've been coming to SATP for the past 12 years and this is just not a resort but its my home when I come to Jamaica and these are my family members that have also had to endure these struggles. So with that said my post this year is to all my HEROS at SATP and hats off to everything your staff did to make our stay the best it could possibly be given the circumstances and the unknowing. We arrived on March 13th (Friday the 13th ironically ha). Once again welcomed with open arms and enjoying each moment with the staff and the sun/beach/ocean for the first couple days, then the reality of the situation started to get worse daily, hotels were closing up, planes were no longer allowed to land other than emergency personnel. Everyone of the staff that we encountered kept their heads held high and treated us as it was any other day. Without their professionalism and PERSONALITIIES it really would've made it a lot harder. So with that said I want to thank as many people as I can and also SATP hats off to you for taking care of the employees as I was one of the last 30 people in the hotel and watched SATP give bags and bags of groceries to go home with them as no one knows what the future holds. i'm confident SATP will be back again doing what they do best, make people feel comfortable and happy and want to come back to Jamaica MON! So my 2 biggest peeps I need to always thank first and foremost is my girl Kadian and our longest friend there Desmond. You both have a wonderful staff that respect you and it shows. So with that said here is my shout out to you all and I sure hope I don't miss anyone this year. Thank you Kerri, Damion, Melissa, Craig, Esroy, Kirk, Corneilus, Claudette, Paul, Stacy-Ann, Doraine, Iesha, Tobian, Daniella, Erica, Lynette, Clevon, Jovaine, Jevaugh, Alex, Raheem, my beach guys Kevin and Tavon?? Audley and All the housekeeping ladies all so wonderful as well. I do want to mention Donnavon Dalrumple as he is the musician on the beach that still daily shares inspiration and when we are there he spends some nice time with us, as he is also part of the SATP family and would love to see him back performing on a regular basis. The new beach bathroom is beautiful as well, we never leave the beach. I always remember when I travel to Jamaica, your vacation is what you make it. Have fun and enjoy! One love!
We traveled to renew our wedding vows
From the moment we booked our vacation, our wedding planner called to discuss details and things that I wanted for our big day. I wanted a sunset ceremony and it poured down raining up until 10 minutes before we were supposed to start. Miraculously, the sun appeared and set just as I had hoped. The staff was wonderful during our week there. The food was scrumptious. The grounds were well manicured. Everyone went out of their way to make sure that we were taken care of at our home away from home. I even had the opportunity to take a cooking class while there which was quite interesting. Our video captured every detail of our vow renewal. I would recommend Sunset at the Palms for anything, not just a wedding. I hope to be able to revisit someday. The only reason we have not returned is because there were other places that we want to see. Memories were created there that we will never forget. Thank you Sunset at the Palms.
OUR ISLAND IN THE SUN - Paradise Found
We began our first vacation at Sunset at the Palms in 2005, returned in 2008 and have been returning every year since then. When we come back each year it is like returning home to see all our family and friends! This year our stay was the first two weeks in March. Sunset at the Palms is a small, tranquil resort where once you go you will never want to leave. Your room is a beautiful treehouse style bungalow surrounded by lush tropical gardens where tree frogs sing at night and tropical birds awaken you in the morning. The beach is just a short walk across the road - with the assistance of a friendly crossing guard - where you will enjoy the most beautiful beach in Negril on Bloody Bay. Pristine, calm water and a beautiful horseshoe shape beach to walk and explore. If what you wish is a boat tour then Roydel is your Captain. He operates Reality Glass Bottom Boat tours which is located right beside the Sunset beach. You will not be disappointed. Every year we take a boat tour with Roydel and Michael and have a wonderful time sightseeing all along the Negril shoreline. There are many options for breakfast, lunch and dinner with some truly Jamaican themed meals. You cannot go wrong with the buffet at breakfast and dinner. The beach grill has many delicious lunch choices. A la Carte dining at the Lotus Leaf for special dinners. Chef's Showcase has authentic local cuisine prepared before your very eyes while you dine outside under the stars (weather permitting). After dinner at the Lotus Leaf, in the Martini Bar, you do not want to miss an evening of beautiful piano music by Paul. If you need a taxi during your visit for any off-site excursions, Ian is your man, During your trip you will meet many generous, caring, exceptional staff that will help make your stay a most enjoyable and delightful one. There are so many names to mention but please know that EVERYONE at Sunset makes our stay each year a special one. (Kadian, O'Neil, Marlando, Dorain, Esroy, Kirk, Carson, Keegan, Raheen, Kerry, Cornelius, Craig, Conroy, Claudette, Stacey, Shawn, Melissa, Bruce, Cleven, Joavi, Audley, Shorty, Madge and Gladston, are just a short list of so many wonderful caring staff at Sunset) We also got to meet a new General Manager this year, Kamarla Simms. Thank you for taking the time to meet and chat with us. There have been many improvements over the years and this year we were so pleased to find a new beautifully appointed beach restroom - well done!! Near the end of our second week at Sunset we were concerned about the worldwide outbreak of the Coronavirus and everyone at Sunset was so accommodating and helpful during what might have been a very stressful end to our vacation at Sunset - thank you all for your calm and compassionate assistance. We hope that all our friends and their families are safe and well during this very difficult time and are hoping to see everyone again very soon. One Love, Bill and Sandra
Wonderful holiday, friendly helpful staff, beautiful jungle setting, peaceful and secluded.
our first visit to jamaica and this hotel. It couldn't have been better. The secluded tree rooms are finished to a high standard and comfort. Food is good and the restaraunts pleasantly situated. Al-a-carte dining is especially good. Evenings in the cocktail bar are a highlite of this hotel, the piano man has to be seen and enjoyed. will definately visit again
This was our first trip to Jamaica. We absolutely loved the resort, along with its staff (Cornelieur, Claudette, Ashika, Basil, and of course the piano player, to name but a very few). We felt like pampered guests. It was so nice not to have to reserve beach or pool chairs, and the staff at both places were friendly and helpful. The facilities at both were pristine (it's about that beach bathroom though - wow!). The food was wonderful - The buffet with its à la carte lunches, the Lotus Leaf and of course the beach grill. We were able to experience the BBQ on the beach as well - what an endeavour, but so well worth it. We had such a great time! If we could suggest anything, it would be for more clothing facilities in the room, and please, please, sometime, somewhere, servce Jamaican Patties! We hope to be back soon, and in the meantime, we hope that you and yours all fare well during this difficult time.
