Hotel was average but trip was really good
We had a good vacation. Weather was great. The beach and pool areas were great. The people working the bars and restaurants were really good. Overall the service/people were really good. The food was just average. The hotel and rooms are very outdated. Rooms need updating. We stayed for the New Year's Eve celebration and it was the best part of the trip. The entertainment, the atmosphere, the decoration was top notch. They really stepped it up for the dinner buffet. The food for NYE celebration was great. It was a nice surprised based on how the food had been average all week prior to the celebration. The fireworks along the bay at midnight was best I've ever seen.

Repulsively dirty and not as advertised
Repulsive is the best word I have to describe this "resort". Pool tile had green scum and black mildew around the perimeter. Buffet was downright disgusting (dirty, smelly and bad and repetitive food). The waterslides look NOTHING like the photo online - they're very old, dirty and falling apart. Staff feigned compassion and promised action, but nothing got cleaned as promised. Save your money or go somewhere else. Every other Canadian I spoke to while I was there was either disappointed or had active complaints in with WestJet for compensation. You're not getting what you think you're buying. Beds were not bad and our room was quiet.

Do not recommend
Hyatt should shut this place down and remodel it or sell it off. After my stay here, I'm now unable to trust Hyatt properties. Overall - You have to wear an uncomfortable plastic wrist band the entire time. Many resorts now have elastic wrist bands that can be removed. They need to do that. - We had to fight to get them to honor the 2pm late check out for Discoverist. Even when they agreed, we got an ugly call on our check out day saying we had to leave at 12. - The elevators do not work well. One of three is permanently out of order. At least one of the other two was broken 70% of the time and both were broken several times. The elevator buttons are not connected so people going down push both buttons. So, you end up stopping on every floor on the way down. Be prepared to walk up and down to your room. Recommend a low floor. Room - With the A/C on full blast, our room didn't get below 78 Deg F the entire time we were there. - It smelled like mold. - It was dirty. We wiped everything down with wipes and they were black after. - Security lock broken. - We stepped on broken glass. - Fixtures were breaking and coming out of the ceiling/wall. - Couch was stained and gross Food - Overall, the food is not good. The buffet is horrible. The taco place is approximately 95 deg F inside. The Italian and grill (near the buffet) aren't too bad. But there are no reservations and you need to wait for a spot. You also have to be "dressed up" and sit through a sit down meal if you want to go there. - They don't understand gluten free (sin gluten). They said food at the buffet was marked but only one thing was -- dried out GF bread. Even plain veggies weren't marked. Unsure if they were GF. - The buffet didn't have enough serving utensils. People were grabbing things with their hands. - Restaurant hours are weird. The buffet didn't open for lunch until 130. The only earlier lunch option is a gross food truck with a line and one food option. - Drinks are made with sugary, fake colored sludge. The blenders leave giant chunks of ice. - There is generally a line to get anything. Beach/Pool - Every chair was "reserved" with a towel by 8am - The pool was green one day. Cloudy other days. Felt slimy in general. No hot tub, kid pool, play features (other than the younger kids splash pad area). - They blasted music from the center of the pool. At night there was loud techno. This is not spring break. - We checked in around 4. There were no clean towels. I asked several employees and they kept pointing me to someone else. After about 45 minutes, they finally brought out clean towels. - the towels were old, ripped, faded, etc. - Chairs are old, stained, bird poop, ripped, etc. - impossible to relax at the beach. People blasting music on personal speakers and chain smoking. Some vendor bothering you every 5 minutes to buy a bracelet or book a tour. They did nothing to keep the vendors out like other hotels do. - not really any pool our beach equipment available. You were allowed to take out a kayak at a set time once per day with one of the staff "leading" a tour. No paddle boards or anything else. Other - Spa looked very depressing. We got an "offer" to book a massage at a "discounted" rate before we arrived. It was actually cheaper to book onsite. - They shops were run down, dirty, etc. Fortunately, we upgraded to get the sun club with points. This gave you access to some beach chairs (that were a little more available after 8am), room service, and a separate bar with decent alcohol and some snacks. We generally stayed away from the property by booking offsite tours our going to the romantic zone. It was worth paying extra to eat and do other activities off the property. Not exactly what you want from an all inclusive resort.

Beware= this place is a dump.
We were here over christmas and it was absulutely the worst hotel experiecne I ahve ever had. Checking in was fine, we were assigned room 443, whcih unfortunatly was a hot mess- the air conditioning didn't work, the toilet was chracked and leaking all over the floor, the safe was inoperable, and housekeeping forgot to give us soap or toiletries. After multiple visits with the front desk and meeting and showing things to maintence, a total of about 5 hours of our trip wasted, the agreeed the air conditioning was not working and didn't know how to fix it, and the toilet was cracked and leaking. Hosuekeeping brough us towels, and the rtepair man replaced the safe. However, it was 85-90 degrees plus humidity inside the room, and we and the childrne were unable to sleep well. the front desk after mutlip[le askes agtreed to move us to a working room the following day but were unable to upgrade us, even at cost to a room with air conditioning. The room we moved to the following day smelled like urine, and did nt ahve hot water int he shwoers or sink. The food was ho-hum, tolerable, but not what I would expect from a hyatt propterty. At breakfast the first day, in the world cafe, my children were swarmed by aboit 30-25 bees, and it left them in tears. We tried to go inside to eat at tiki taco, but also found theor air conditining was also not working, and it was roasting inside- upwards of 90 degrees. overallt he xepreice was one of the worst travel/ hotel experiences to date, the prioperty was not up to hyatt standards. There was one working elevator for 18 floor, so we often schose to dp the stairs or ride in the decrepid service elevator. Had we paid 1-200 a night I would chalk it up to "mexico" but at 525/night, it was a hige disappointment, and am rewriting this review to avoid using profanity, though the property deserves it.
