At Sunscape Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, kids ages 3-12 will have a blast with all the fun-filled activities at the Explorer’s Club for Kids. Sep 11, 2025Looks Great in Photos, But Reality Disappoints
Sunscape Puerto Vallarta looks stunning online, but reality was disappointing. Our stay was disappointing. The room was outdated and poorly maintained — the TV was crooked, the beds were uncomfortable, and the AC dripped water and barely cooled. Minibar and room service, promised with our UVC membership, came with extra charges. Food at buffets and cafés lacked flavor and variety, and some cooking stations were uncomfortably hot. The kids water park also looked amazing in photos, but in reality, it was less maintained, as seen in the pics I’ve attached. On the bright side, the staff were excellent — restaurant servers, bartenders, bellboys, housekeeping, and photographers were all friendly and attentive. Updating rooms, improving food, and recognizing members properly would help the resort live up to its beautiful photos.

It is a very fun resort for family trips… the bell crew at the front is amazing lots of fun with these guys when u arrive and every time u need a taxi!! Cristian and Angel are amazing people!!

Not just bad, but dangerous
This was not our first trip, we've been many times. We've brought friends and had senior trips here, so we knew what to expect. We booked 2 nights in June so that we could be closer to the airport (after staying the week in Punta Mita). We were "upgraded" to a "nicer" room that was a disaster. Both rooms had visible mold on the air conditioner, sheets were dirty, the dressers were not even wiped down, the sliding glass door was not stable and was on the verge of falling out of the door. A move back to the non upgraded room would have been nice, but they said they were full and would call us that evening--they didn't. On our second night I was woken up by a horrible smell, and it made me ill. Finally at 6am I went to the front desk to inform them of this smell the we couldn't identify. They said we know, people have been complaining and we woke your daughters up at 4 am but they said they didn't smell anything. Aparently they didn't wake us to inform us because we had a do not disturb sign. I called my husband from the lobby and told him to get our girls up and out of the room as something was going on. By the time I got up there, the staff was in their room--6:30 am and discovered a smoldering electric outlet in their room. Burn marks on the wall. We were smelling burning electrical wires. We threw everything in our suitcases and left immediately thinking if there was a fire starting we didn't want to get stuck there and likely the elevators would stop. No apologies from the hotel, and in fact, no survey when we left as they didn't want to admit what was happening. I've not been able to get in touch with the hotel, but did speak with UVC who we booked through. They don't want to do anything because we were "upgraded". No one expects a 5 star resort at this price, but a clean room and safe room is expected and they failed miserably on that. The only good thing is the wait staff. Sweet Miguel remembered us, he's a great man and I'm sorry I won't see him as I"m never going back to this hell hole, but I would not be surprised if it burned down given the condition it's in

Loved our Trip from America
I had an excellent time being in the Sunclub! Staff were so friendly, especially Miguel on the beach. Isay did a great job at dinner. CESAR was fantastic!! Allen was great with volleyball :) Thank you!

Girls Trip in Mexico
Christian, Oscar, Alex, and Cesar in the sun club were amazing! Made the trip so fun! 10/10 recommend. We had a great trip and hope to return soon!!
