A great spot!!
Second time here! Staff can’t do enough to make your stay the best it can be. Rooms are spotless, the bed and bedding is clean, fresh and crisp. The food was great with lots of variety and the best coffee at Coco 2.0. The beach was good, staff do everything they can to remove any seaweed. But keep in mind it is the ocean! A lovely fun place to get your holiday on!

Punta Can’t-a
Off the bat I will objectively state that the property (pool and beach) were very nice. After that….not so good. The service was embarrassing — inattentive, no sense of urgency and no apparent management or leadership. This was especially apparent in the restaurants and bars. The workers were not especially polite, seemed to ignore us and instead “pal-ed” around with their co-workers, often bordering on rude. On the first two days I said let’s give it a chance….but it persisted throughout the whole trip. As for the food….awful. Other than the Italian restaurant none of the food was good and/or was bad. Our room was fine other than the fact that despite photos showing furnishings…we had no chair, table or even drawers (I used an ironing board) to lay out my clothes but housekeeping was nice and efficient. All told, look elsewhere IMHO.

The absolutely worst experience of a traveling lifetime. DO NOT, I MEAN, DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE!!!!
The first thing to note is that our Sunclub swim up room was disgusting. The smell was horrendous. Immediately, I asked for an upgrade. That was the only good thing that happened. Our 2nd room was 1149 with a pool in front. The air conditioning was broken, as it was so cold all the time. We had to turn it off numerous times to bring it to a comfortable setting. When I went to phone the front desk, I realized that the phone was broken, and it took a day to fix it; thank god we didn't have an emergency within that time frame. We also had to visit the Kalidescope Buffet almost every damn meal. At this buffet, the food was always cold. The bacon served was always raw. It's just disgusting!! as it was impossible to get reservations to the so-called famous Chop sticks. We tried a few other restaurants, i.e., Bluewater Grill, Tiki Taco...the food was dreadful. The worst experience was at the Grill when the waiters commented to ask what we would like to order was "What do you want!" So rude everywhere there. We have traveled to many places, but this place tops off the absolutely worst hotel. On January 31st at 9:20 in the evening, I heard an emergency alarm saying that a medical emergency had happened and we were to leave our room asap. The alarm just kept repeating itself, so my husband went to the SunClub area and asked what was going on. The representative proceeded to tell him that she called to have the alarm silenced but could not explain to him why it went off in the first place, and if there was any thpe of emergency. No communication at all or even any explanation. In summary, we will never visit the Dominican Republic

ENTERTAINMENT at it's finest!
First and foremost the AMAZING Entertainment team is what made this resort so much fun and memorable. We have been to the DR many times over the past few years along with other resorts in other Caribbean countries and can truly say that the entertainment team was the best we have experienced at any resort that we have visited. ESPECIALLY Capuchino, Pumba and Spaghetti. All three were constantly interacting with the resorts guests of all ages and gender to get them involved in the daily/nightly activities. They are so talented and professional with endless energy which kept us entertained and laughing . Location: Very close to the airport - which is always nice after a lengthy travel time. Check-in/Check-out: We didn't have a long line or wait time. The only annoyance was the Blue shirt team with U on the chest trying to get you with the Gold Key offers. Don't fall for it - its a time share presentation. We knew better from reading other reviews about this so we were prepared to say "no thank you". Rooms: We stayed in Sunclub building 1 on the third floor (room 1355) with a pool and partial ocean view room. Our maid Celia kept our room very clean with plenty of towels and a stocked fridge with lots of water, pop and beer. The bed was on the harder side for us but that seems to be an issue at most resorts. Property, grounds, beach and pools: Clean and well maintained considering that some guests would just leave their plates and cups all over the place. Food and service: Lots of variety and options to chose from. The slow service and lack of cutlery, coffee cups and glasses etc. at the Windows buffet was annoying but didn't ruin our vacation by any means. Kaleidoscope was better but has room for much improvement as well. We only ate at the buffets. Shout out to Carlos at Kaleidoscope and Johnny at Windows. Bars and drinks: We always had premium alcohol options at the pool bars, lobby bar and beach bar. A shout out to Enrique in the lobby bar and Ranfy in the main pool swim-up bar. Areas that could use improvement: more wait staff at the buffets, tables cleared faster and set up properly for the next guest, staff that speak a little more English as some didn't speak any English at all and bracelets that determine who is in Sunclub and who isn't. This is not a five star resort but a solid 3 plus star with the potential to become a 5 star resort with some improvements. It's a great value resort for the price we paid for January. Would we return: Yes and a huge part of the reason that we are considering returning in June with other family members and friends is the three members of the entertainment team that stood out that made our vacation the most fun we have had a resort. We miss you Capuchino, Pumba and Spaghetti and can't stop talking about the fun we had with you three. Hope to see you all in June for more fun times! Sunscape Coco do your resort a huge favour and keep these three gentlemen as a part of your entertainment team. Simply the best!

Working hard to become one of Punta Cana's premier destinations
Sunscape Coco Punta Cana was a very pleasant surprise in ‘almost’ every way. We chose this resort with almost no research at the last minute based solely on availability. We were arriving in Punta Cana two days early because of a storm and we couldn’t check in early at our final destination. We really had no idea about this resort other than it had a room, a beach, and we would be fed. I am glad we left the resort with great last impressions. It didn’t start well. Our ONLY complaint was the check in. We arrived an hour early so we weren’t expecting a room to be ready. We did the check in process which was a bit slow compared to other places we have travelled to, but was about the same as our second destination. I think that is just a Punta Cana thing. They told us to come back at 3:00 to get our key. At 3:00, there were 20 to 30 people in the room, passports were all over every available desk space and it seemed like chaos. We had to wait over an hour until I finally pressed someone to confirm our room was ready and to find our key. This didn’t leave us feeling very optimistic for our two-night stay. OK…that was the bad. Now I want to say that with that one exception, this resort surprised us in every way. We prefer adults only. If the resort had an adults only section, we would go back to this place for certain. We never had the opportunity to try any specialty restaurants but the buffet was fabulous for every meal, the pools were wonderful and the beach was like every other resort. The one thing that was spectacular, is that if you walked about 20 minutes to the left of the resort on the beach, you entered an area that was not built up yet and the water was that Caribbean blue and beautiful. Unfortunately, the same nets that keep the seaweed off the beaches, also keep a lot of the junk trapped in the water. But every single resort has the same nets. The room was beautiful, was kept very clean, nice shower plus a Jacuzzi tub. I was asked on check out if there was anything they could have improved, which was a nice touch. I informed them about the check in process and they said they will work on it. IF they fix that, they will have one of Punta Cana’s top resorts for families and with an adult section, for couples looking for a quiet get away too. You can tell that they are working really hard to get there.
