  Awful

  The worst check in and check out process I have ever experienced. It took over 4 hours to check in. No organization, disaster.

  Excellent

  Sky and bonbon are lovely. Fun activities every day :) We got given hats and were able to paint them. Good good good good!!

  Painting at the pool

  Entertainment at the pool was great. We painted a hat with the kids. Bombon and Sky were great. We kids loved their hats!!

  Just Awful!…….

  I have read the other reviews and can only assume that most have not experienced other hotels on the Island. We have just returned from the worse holiday we have ever experienced. This was a substitute hotel offered by TUI as our original hotel was having major refutb. Sunscape rooms are shocking - not only requiring a full refurb but they are filthy with grained in dirt and even what looked like faeces on outside of toilet pan and on the floor. (upon speaking with other guests this is standard and one family we met were paying a private fee to have their room cleaned properly every day!). After the first evening (we settled in late and went and ate) we realised our tv, phone and door lock was faulty and had to walk to reception to report and as they only have check in and out we had to queue - we had to report this 3 times - each time queuing so spent an entire evening queuing or waiting. Maintenance eventually bought a new tv, sorted out the phone and explained to us that the catch on the door had to be manually pushed in. The cleaner of our room who only spoke Spanish did not understand this so kept leaving our room door open! We complained and she must have been informed as the next day did not bother cleaning our room and from the 4th day locked it correctly. There are no drawers for clothes and were supplied with just 1 coat hanger - the clothes had to be piled up in the cupboard next to the air con unit so we ended up with damp smelly clothes. The air con needs refurbing it made the room damp, bedding with a wet feel and it smelt bad every day! Never experienced this at other hotels in the Dominican. The mini bar - we had to beg to get even soft drinks or water - our whole time there only put 5 small bottles of beer - when we complained it was not replenished we were told to upgrade to club for $700! checking with other residents in a different block they got a full mini bar with 4 beers everyday and had not upgraded. Don’t bother advertising all inclusive mini bar it is a lie! The hotel is used by local residents as a leisure centre and therefore at the weekends it was chaos - you could barely get a drink, queue times were ridiculous anywhere you went and you got served first if you were a regular, a friend or spoke Spanish! The buffet which was basically the only option was chaos, bland food with no variation and generally lukewarm or cold and most of the time the only drink you could get was water - it felt like you had to beg for anything else. The staff were totally not interested in serving and there was a lack of staff. The drinks were served in either plastic small beakers or throw away small plastic cups - so to get a pint of lager you needed 4 plastic cups and the dinner plates were plastic - the only time they used China or glass was Christmas Eve! We felt like naughty children! The pool is too small for over a 1000 rooms. There is a sign stating that you cannot reserve beds and that if a bed is empty for over 45 mins then your personal items will be removed. Most beds were reserved with a towel every single day by 7.30am and were left empty but reserved with a towel for 4 or 5 hours - absolutely ridiculous! In the end there were so many beds you could barely get to the pool and they were so close together you had to launch yourself from the end onto the bed as couldn’t get to it sideways. There is no choice other than the international buffet as all the other restaurants you had to book on the app at 9am everyday and they were always full or closed! Even though the app stated they were full every evening we walked past and they were only partially full - we assume it is a ploy to advertise them when in fact they didn’t want to provide an a la Carte menu as costs more so kept guests to a minimum in them. Christmas Eve in the buffet we were informed that as it was a special menu - additional desserts and fruit we were required to pay a fee of $10 each - we refused as no where in the T & Cs did it mention this and we were all inclusive! Also there was no where else to eat… you guessed it all A La Carte restaurants full! We have advised TUI to remove the Casino advert from their website - there is no Casino it shut down months ago. Also revisit the advert for 12 restaurants - some you could not call a restaurant and others you are unable to book due to the app always stating they are full or closed. The queues for anything at this hotel is relentless - have never queued so much!

  Ordinatry stay

  Goods: Beautiful beach in general. Staff is very kind on the vast majority, but many only speak spanish. They don't smile a lot. Rooms in builing 1 are beautiful. The food at the buffet is good. This is a good thing, because reservation for restaurants is very hard. Bads: The check-in at the hotel was very long and they gave us 2 rooms at the opposite of thee hotel (we are a familiy). With a supervisor, they corrected the error and put us i n the 17 building were the rooms are very old and there is always music until 1 am. We asked for a change at the end of the trip and the room in the builing 1 were quiet and really more beautiful. The beach has a lot of sargasse witch makes it difficult to go swim. The hotel near clean the sargase, not our hotel. There is a LOT of solicitation on the beach to sell trips, picure with bird, massage, etc... this is really anoying. Really hard to make a reservation in the restaurants other than the buffet. The christmas dinner at the buffet was amazing. Personnally I will not go back to this hotel.
