  Punta Cana

  I read hundreds of reviews about this resort before coming here and this is also my 4th time traveling to the Dominican Republic. My check-in experience was wonderful, it was super fast and efficient, the room we stayed in was new, clean, had tons of amenities, and the housekeeping staff did an incredible job. The entertainment team was always cheerful and had plenty of activities available so you’re never bored. The food was also really good, probably the best I’ve ever had in the Dominican Republic. Now, the cons. The service outside of housekeeping and the entertainment team are all horrible. They do not smile, they do not greet you, it takes 30 minutes just to get water, they act like they’re very upset to be there. Our keys suddenly did not work and after asking the front desk, he had an angry look on this face and threw the keys back at me. Getting reservations at the restaurants are impossible so plan to only eat at the buffets every day, and also plan to wait 45 minutes to get into the buffets every day. The beach does have tons of seaweed so you cannot swim or go into the water comfortably, and there are at least 50+ vendors selling massages, hair braiding, necklaces, cigars, bracelets, excursions and they constantly harass you nonstop. It is odd because they have security, but they do nothing to stop the vendors. It is interesting that every single day security asked my husband if he stayed at the resort, and he would have to show them his room key, yet they allow these vendors to inundate us with sales pitches every minute. Overall, this isn’t a horrible resort, but it’s not great either.

  Poor service, old and dirty rooms,

  I am currently staying at the property, the rooms are very old, even the door lock doesn’t work. Seems like rooms were not cleaned properly after the last check out. The rooms toilets were not cleaned properly after last use. There were no toiletries provided except 2 tubes of shampoo. The reception service was very very slow. We waited in queue for 30 mins just because our room key/card was not working.

  Good Value, Clean and Fun

  We had a great time at Sunscape Coco. The staff was very accommodating, the property overall is VERY clean, very well maintained. I constantly witnessed staff seeing trash and picking it up. We had an issue with our room after our first night, I worked with Abraham (Ab) a manager from Sunclub and he went above and beyond to get us into a great new room and checked in with us multiple times to ensure everything was great, he knocked it out of the park and made a bad situation extremely positive, legitimately saving our vacation. Another bright spot was Martin in the breakfast buffet, this guy was cranking out omelettes like a pro, super nice and very positive! All other staff was very nice. Pools all very clean Bar staff and bars were easy and great Service at the restaurants was also very good. Food was “average” to good at the ala carte places, not a huge fan of the buffet food. But from a value perspective we more than got our money’s worth. Lots of activities, very pretty property good atmosphere for families. Cons: - The beach: unfortunately while kept relatively clean of trash, each day 2-3 feet of sargassum/seaweed would accumulate, it was like blanketed in the water, not much they can do about it, but for awareness. We did walk about 10 minutes down the beach once to Dreams and the water there was drastically cleaner given the currents, etc… Size?- very large property, our first night we were in building 14 and while a great secluded feeling, a solid .25 mile walk to the sun club lounge/checkin

  Winter at Coco

  Big NO to drinks on disposable plastic cups. Needs extra people. Staff were friendly. Still a budget friendly resort but this time it seems expensive because of the cons.

  Fun at Sunscape Coco Punta Cana

  We had a lovely time at Sunscape Coco Punta Cana. We had the best time with Capuchino, the entertainment director. He was so friendly and so much fun. His energy is infectious and he really added a lot of excitement to our experience there. He was fantastic at getting the crowd up dancing and other poolside activities. Thank you Capuchino for making our trip extra exciting!!!!
