Great Views, Comfortable Stay but Problematic Check-in/Check-out Process

I stayed at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel for five days as part of my 35th anniversary high school class reunion. There were about 23 of us that stayed at this hotel for this occasion. This was the perfect spot for all planned activities especially the music festival. This is a spacious and absolutely gorgeous hotel. The grounds are picturesque and they’ve done a great job with the upkeep and maintenance of the grounds and the hotel. Their staff was professional and courteous. My check-in process was a bit cumbersome. I did a mobile check-in 24 hrs before my arrival, but somehow it still did not create a seamless process when I arrived to pick up the keys. I had to go through the entire check-in process again which was a bit confusing to me. My check-in process took about 30 minutes! This unexpected delay caused me to be late for the class dinner. My room was fantastic. The set up was perfect for my needs. It was spacious, cleaned well, and the bed was very comfortable. I had a view of the resort which was lovely. My room did have an iron and an ironing board; however, I had difficulty with the iron as it kept leaking water despite what setting it was on. I could tell that it was a much older iron as well because all the labels on the dial were no longer visible. The iron eventually got the job done. I got a chance to attend the fire pit event during my stay which was nice. I did not have sufficient time to use the pool or take a stroll along the beach side of the hotel though. I also did not get the opportunity to try any of the restaurants or shop at any of the stores at the hotel. Perhaps another time. I had a wonderful and peaceful stay at this hotel. After my check-in snafu, everything else went well until it was time for me to check-out. I uncovered a big discrepancy with my bill. As I check out of any hotel, I like to do one last review of my bill before leaving just in case there are any discrepancies. It’s a good thing that I did that for this hotel as well. There were several charges on my bill for meals at a restaurant at the hotel; however, I did not have an opportunity to eat at any restaurants at the hotel. I informed the rep about the discrepancy. She went and pulled the receipts for those meals to review them. The receipt had my room number on it; however, the name did not match my name on any of the receipts. I initially thought that someone was trying to scam me or commit fraud then she mentioned that there are different buildings at the hotel with the same room numbers. This means that it’s possible that the room number was correct but since the building was not referenced on the receipt, the hotel rep just probably assigned it to my room since they did not know which building the person was in. I was very surprised to know that there are buildings within the same hotel with the exact same room numbers yet there is no way to identify that on the receipts when someone charges something up to their room. I can only imagine that this discrepancy happens frequently. She was able to remove the erroneous charges from my bill. I went to inform my former classmates to check their bills thoroughly to make sure it was accurate before they checked out officially. Unfortunately, three of them had already encountered the exact same discrepancies with their bills upon checking out. The exact same scenario happened to them. St. Kitts Marriott Hotel, you need to do something about this. Either update your receipts so that the building names or building numbers can be included with the room number, or change the room numbering schemes in your entire hotel so that they are unique. This is not something that I expected to have to deal with as I’m checking out and trying to get to the airport on time. This was an unexpected and unnecessary headache. This hotel does need to work on their check-in and check-out processes; however, overall, this is a marvelous hotel and a wonderful place to stay. It is beautiful and in a great location!

Nice resort. Great massages on the beach.

My wife and I went for a short 5-day vacation. We had a great time. St. Kitts is less developed than some other islands, which is nice. Overall, the resort was really nice and well-maintained. Pools are wonderful. Lots of huts on the beach. There is a breakwater that creates a shallow area to float around. We walked over to "the Strip" each night to have dinner on the beach and then would take a cab back. One of the highlights for us was getting therapeutic massages on the beach from Iana. She gave amazing deep tissue massages using fresh aloe. The experience was unforgettable with the ocean breeze and the sound of the waves. We went three of the five days. Iana is the furthest masseuse to the left when you walk from the resort onto the beach.

    Amazing Staff

My stay at the Marriot was amazing and was very relaxing. The staff were very welcoming and Selena French was amazing with both the adults and the kids. We will definitely be back!

    Family holiday

I visited this hotel and st kitts for the first time. There were 5 of us in total staying in 2 rooms, ages from 19years to 64 and I felt there was plenty to do for everyone. The hotel itself self was lovely and clean and the room also. Some people say it was dated but I’ve been to far worse. We ate in just 2 restaurants because the calypso was closed for refurbishment during our stay so we didn’t get to try any local cuisine which we were hoping for. The best food we ate was in the fire, the steak was delicious! The food through the day was also good, I would recommend the chicken wings, pizza and the cakes from the cafe bar. There wasn’t much entertainment during our stay but possibly because May is out of season. There wasn’t much staff was friendly especially Cassandra who worked on the front desk. Our son enjoyed an hour every night in the casino and also spent every morning in the gym. We played crazy golf but was very basic but something to do. Overall fab stay and would defo return.

Great first visit to St. Kitts; won't be the last!

The intro pic of the resort is exactly what you get! We had a great time on St. Kitts and at the Marriott Resort. The resort: We picked the perfect time to take our trip as far as crowds go! It was Easter weekend, so there wasn't a lot going on that week. Attendance at the resort was low, so there was no rushing to get pool/beach chairs. We ate at Calypso for breakfast every day. We just ate from the menu since we wouldn't eat enough from the buffet to make it worth it. The pastries and coffee from the Calypso Cafe outside the restaurant were great; especially the coconut tart!! The seafood restaurant was closed for renovations, so there was only the poolside beach restaurant open for lunch. Believe it or not, our favorite restaurant at the resort was the Arwee Sushi Bar. The sushi was fresh, and the service was outstanding by everyone at the bar and lounge! The resort is showing its age a bit. You can tell they've been updating it, but the rooms are a little tired (at least ours was). There wasn't anything "wrong" with our room (which was in the main building), just needs updating. The furniture on our balcony (and neighbor's) definitely needs to be changed out. My husband was afraid he'd fall through the one chair, it was literally coming apart. The beach was nice. There are vendors there offering the usual hair braiding, massages, and trinkets, but they didn't "hound" you if you said no. Being on the Atlantic side, the water was a bit more active than on the Caribbean side, but nothing that prevented being in the water; except the seaweed. There was definitely a lot of that! The resort did a good job trying to remove it every day. Again, nothing earth shattering. The service was great from all of the resort staff! Everyone there went out of their way to help with anything we needed! St Kitts & Nevis: Most venues were closed on Sunday and Monday in observance of Easter. so we didn't bother going off the resort. Tuesday was the last day of the season for cruise ships; 2 ships were in, but we could still walk around Port Zante and downtown with no problems. The reviews we read from other travelers were spot on about the Kittsians being so friendly and helpful! We felt safe outside the resort, and had no problems getting around. We hired a taxi (our first encounter with Mr. G) from Port Zante going to The Strip over on Frigate Bay. He recommended Boozy's for lunch, and came back and returned us to the resort. We ate at Serendipity Restaurant & Lounge Bar one night. It was delicious!!! Will definitely eat there again. Our waiter Shaquille was very knowledgeable and friendly. And Rock Lobster; There was so much delicious food, we could hardly finish. And, once again the service was outstanding! We didn't have any bad meals while we were in St. Kitts. We took the Explore Nevis tour from the resort. We had a great time with our tour guide Audi. She was wonderful explaining the history and culture of the island. We stopped at several historical locations, the hot springs, and saw the monkeys! We ate on the beach at Pinney's Beach. Didn't get the Killer Bee from Sunshine's Bar though... Does anyone really know the secret ingredients??? Getting taxis was no problem at all, and we felt safe in all of them. The drivers were very helpful when asked where to eat and see. There were 2 taxi drivers that stand out as our favorites, and we have already prepared them for our next visit. Johnson VIP Transport; He was one of the most friendly, respectful, helpful, and courteous taxi drivers! He will get you where you want to go safely and on time! Mr. G's Taxi Service aka "The Green Machine". He drives a green van that everyone seems to know. I can't say enough about Mr. G! We kind of adopted each other from the first ride he gave us! We hired him to take a private island tour. He literally took us around the entire island, making stops along the way. Since we weren't part of an organized tour, we had no time table to keep and could spend as much, or as little time at each location. He took us to a local eatery in Dieppe Bay called Coopers. It was a delicious meal with baked chicken, rice&greens, potato salad, green salad, and Mac & Cheese. You'll notice that most of the eateries are shacks with covered seating areas. These are the best! Mr. G made our trip that much more special!!! Thank you Mr. G!!! We will definitely be visiting St. Kitts again! Thank you to everyone who helped make our vacation great!!!
