Poor customer service, avoid like the plague!!!

Horrible customer service during the pandemic. I'd avoid this place like the plague. Service has been crappy since first booking. They sleezy and find every reason not to be ethical. If you're trip goes 100% smooth you MIGHT be ok, if not, you've been warned.

Decent hotel but no real beach

My family and I recently stayed 4 nights at The Sonesta Maho hotel. It was right as the COVID outbreak was occurring. I have to say that the hotel did a nice job doing as much as they could to keep the patrons safe. I applaud them for that. This trip made me realize that I will not do an all inclusive again. It just isn't worth it. We did it because we have 3 teenage boys who eat a lot and thought it would be beneficial, but the quality and choices were just not there. It was fun to cook your meal on the hot rock and it was pretty tasty. The point restaurant was the best one we tried. But lunch was not exciting. Its a small place so there just isn't much to do. They have a lot of activities listed but we found that we ended up off site much of the time. It is a short walk to the famous beach with the airplanes That was fun to see. But the hotel itself really doesnt have a beach that you can hang out on and relax because when its high tide there is no beach at all. We ended up walking to a public beach just down the road and renting chairs and umbrellas. One day we rented scooters and explored the island. The rooms were fine- I had no complaints at all about the rooms. We as a family would just prefer to eat at some local restaurants and try some yummy local food. Our mistake. So- overall its a decent hotel- just not for us.

    Absolutely fabulous!!!!

We happened to be at this resort when the COVID-19 pandemic flipped the world upside down. Our stay continued as planned since we had a flight home within the deadline to get home so we were advised to enjoy our vacation as much as we could. Well we did!! We enjoyed everything about this resort. It is spotless (and extra effort went in to santizing everything when we were there). Very nice room, the pool/partial ocean view room is well worth the extra. I have no complaints about the food at all.....none!! Selection and variety at every meal and plenty of food. I pretty much had to limit myself to 3 desserts.....there were too many to try one of each. As part of their sanitary measures, food was served, guests did not touch any serving utensils. Very efficient. Mullet Bay Beach is a short walk from the resort, and Maho Beach is pretty much attached to the Sonesta Maho beach. Beautiful beaches. This resort is located on a relatively busy street with several shops, bars and restaurants. You do hear planes all day, I happen to really like plane watching. The noise was a complaint by some guests, but I really didn't mind. The mood at this place was just so relaxed, total vacation mode! A little disappointed in the lack of nightly entertainment but not a big deal since we were tired at the end of the day anyhow. I would definitely go back to this resort...and I hope to...there are a few excursions we didn't have time for. :)

    Dream Resort

My boyfriend and I went to this resort last month because we just love going to beautiful places. This resort definitely lived up to out expectations! The beach is absolutely beautiful! Rooms and room service were amazing! I wish there were mire restaurants. Two were closed for weddings, but the food was awesome! We went to the beach everyday. Definitely bring your sunscreen lotion with the highest spf because you will bake!
