Run down disappointment
We arrived with a swift check-in. No bellman. Our room was on the eighth floor. The king suite is extremely disappointing. We had to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs. The sheets have holes in them and are well worn. No matter how careful you shower it floods the bathroom floor and becomes very slippery. You will use all of your bath towels trying to keep the floor dry and then hauling soaking wet towels. The upstairs master bedroom does not have draperies so the light shines in all night from the bright hotel next door. There’s no sleeping in because planes start at 7 AM and don’t end until approximately 6 PM. The hotel shuts the TV off around midnight and it does not come back up until the next morning. Most of the employees are friendly. I would like to shout out Carmelita and Jamie from the Italian restaurant. It was delicious and a nice evening however, the main buffet after three days felt like the food didn’t change. Jings was a disappointment. It tasted like a buffet in the back that someone just loads up a bowl for you.. There’s no direction in the main buffet line where people get their food so everybody’s bumping into everybody, it’s very confusing in there. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Don't waste your hard earned money here! you have been warned.
Let's start off by saying this was a planned trip months prior to arriving; Upon arrival no hi, how are you? or welcome nothing stone cold; you would think that someone anyone would be there ready to greet you or even say welcome that didn't happen in fact it felt as if we were bothering her. Once we received our room keys as soon as we walked off that elevator to our room a strong odor of mold or something musty hit me I mentioned it to my girlfriend and we walled into our room. Once we walked in I knew right away something was off; This prompted me to do a room inspection. Upon inspection there was mold everywhere on the light fixtures right beside the beds, on the room chairs, on the bathroom walls I mean everywhere. The pillow cases were stained or not cleaned properly it was a disaster! this is our first time ever dealing with something like this. We immediately went downstairs to resolve this and that's when they told me all rooms were booked and that I would have no choice but to stay in that room. I told them I have asthma they told me to sleep on the balcony. The next morning we were able to speak with a manager and have our room changed ;but can you believe we are the ones that had to ask for a room change again. No one cared. there's even mold by the bar in the casino on the framed artwork. Mold is everywhere. the AC didn't work properly. The bartenders especially the one by the Mexican restaurant he is the rudest has no people skills at all. The next day we witnessed another guest have a little argument with this same exact bartender so in fact I knew I was not over reacting; This was the first time I have ever came home with all my tip money. Don't waste your time here you deserve to spend your money at a resort that actually cares!! This place doesn't. and to the staff that does I do appreciate you!!! Food was 7/10. The upgraded room view was pathetic a view of the downstairs roof that was filled with debris. The upgraded room came with amenities like the bar on the 9th floor and also that place was dying slowly music was to put you to bed I requested if we can switch the music and the bartender said no it cannot be changed because its a tape that plays the same music over and over again. How are we supposed to be on vacation but are falling esleep while at a bar. Ridiculous! The beach has no lifeguards so if you cannot swim don't even dare. There is a sign saying that as well. The airport was literally 7 min away.

Sonesta Maho Beach
My experience with Sonesta was pretty good. The location is good only about 5min from the airport. The resort was not bad, the service from check in was smooth. The food and bar service was good as well. The drinks were good depending on where you got them from. The problem is the food and room. The food was mid and the specialty restaurants were not good. Mainly ate at the buffet and village tavern. The room design was weird and water sprayed all over the floor and leaked water when you used the shower. Overall the experience was good. Just some adjustments need to be made.
