Best All-Inclusive Trip!
My wife and I just returned from a 5 night trip to SLS Mujeres (Dec 11-16). We can't rave enough about it. We've been to numerous all-inclusives in Mexico and the Caribbean, and while we have liked them all, this one was clearly the best we have been to. Literally every aspect was 5 stars (including the weather). This was as good as it gets. We went in between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so the resort was probably about half full (more full on the family side, less so on the adult side), which made it even better for us. We stayed in an Elite room (with the rooftop jacuzzi included), and while I was skeptical about it coming in, I think it was worth it. The rooftop area and jacuzzi was nice to sit in at the end of the day before dinner. And we had a terrific butler -- Angel -- who took great care of us when we first arrived, showed us all around, and set up all our dinner reservations for where and when we wanted for the whole trip. He checked in on us regularly throughout our stay and was very helpful. Here are some of the many positives about our stay: - Food: Beyond amazing. All-inclusives are known for very average and inconsistent food. We literally had spectacular meals at each of the 5 dinner restaurants and at all 6 lunches we split between the three restaurants (Twiggy, Bungalow and Cleo). The food was fresh, was beautifully presented and was delicious, every time. And the service was great at each place. We really can't say enough about it. We also enjoyed Press and Verde for mid-afternoon coffee/snacks/juices on most days as well. (and we did tip at each lunch and dinner). We had great service and "performance" at Lotus from Alexander and Jesus, and Valentine at Caracol was terrific as well. Everyone was terrific at all the restaurants, but those stood out and were the ones I can recall now. - Grounds: really spectacular, the benefit of the resort only being a year old. Everything is in great shape and it is beautifully landscaped and well laid out. There were people working on all parts of the building and property all all times, and they were working hard and taking good care. The sargassum was even raked up and carted away every day (in the winter months the sargassum is very minimum anyway, but I understand it's worse in the summer). - Pools: plentiful and big. Great pool bars in the middle, especially the adult pool. We spent all our time in the adult pool since it was much less crowded (and we were just two adults), and our only complaint was the music. Starting at 10am they play background electronic music all throughout the pool area and at noon it gets louder. On Thursday - Sunday the DJ comes out around 1pm and plays until 5pm. It's the South Beach vibe they are going for (like with many hotels) at the adult pool, but it is loud. So if it's not your scene you can do like we did and spend most of the time at the beach. But there are plenty of very comfortable, cushioned lounge chairs around the pool and several Bali beds too. On the family side, there is a small waterpark area for the kids, as well as other activities at/near the pool. - Beach: It is very wide (almost 1/4 mile from one end to the other), but narrow (only enough for 2-3 rows of chairs). It was empty for us, but I could see it being crowded during peak season. Very nice, soft, white sand and gentle waves. It was great to just lay on our chairs with an umbrella about 10 feet from the water and just listen to the waves all day. There were also numerous hammocks placed throughout the beach area, which we took advantage of. - Other: Take advantage of the free one-hour hydrotherapy session in the spa (I think it is just for Elite guests). There are LOTS of upsells they try to do by offering higher end food, drinks, etc at each place, but we felt that all the food and drink was high end enough and didn't feel the need to spend any more (that's why we went to an all-inclusive in the first place) and we did not feel pressured at all and didn't miss any of it. We booked Happy Shuttle ourselves online in advance for round trip, private transport to/from the airport in advance and it was great, on time and comfortable. $125 round trip for the two of us -- well worth it. Overall, our trip was a 10 of 10, and we would really like to go back.

Dream Destination Wedding Experience!
We brought our immediate families to the SLS for our destination wedding and it was the most incredible experience from beginning to end. I would go back in a heartbeat and would recommend to anyone for a couples trip, family vacation, friends getaway, or destination wedding! The resort is about 40-45 minutes from the Cancun airport and is nestled between pristine private beaches and a lovely marina. You really get the best of both. From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed in for the most amazing vacation experience--I promise you won't want to leave! At check-in, each person gets a wrist band that is used for everything on property which is great. No need to carry anything! We worked with the onsite wedding coordinator, Alfonso Arvea, throughout the wedding planning process and it was an absolute breeze. We hosted our ceremony on the Smoke and Mirrors terrace around golden hour, followed by photographs on the beach, and then held a private dinner in the wine room at the Union Steakhouse. Alfonso was incredible! He connected us with each vendor, coordinating everything seamlessly. As a quick example, we needed to move the entire itinerary up by an hour about 3 weeks before the wedding -- Alfonso arranged this with one Zoom call and emailed us letting us know it was complete two days later. This man is incredible. On the day we checked in, he met us to greet us at the resort, review final details, and answer our last minute questions. On the day of our wedding, he checked in on us throughout the day and made sure our wedding ran so smoothly. He was an incredibly calming and warm presence on our wedding day. We are so grateful for all of his personal touches that made it a perfect day. I would 100000% recommend getting married at the SLS Playa Mujeres! It was stress-free to plan and so fun on the day of. The food and service at every restaurant were wonderful. I am not a big meat-eater and there were tons of vegetarian options throughout the resort. My new husband was in heaven enjoying every carpaccio option conceivable. We tried every restaurant on the property and loved them all. The tacos at Twiggy for lunch were to die for! Every restaurant offered to order apps for us family style for dinner -- I highly recommend you take them up on the offer. I promise you won't be disappointed! We are big foodies and this was a great way to try a bunch of new things. We loved the miso-glazed fish and the tofu pad thai at Lotus, sipping mojitos poolside, and the desserts... just prepare. You can't go wrong! The chocolate profiteroles at Twiggy were a hit with our entire party and the chocolate mousse at Caracol is still being dreamed about! Don't skip going to Golden Hour for a cocktail and pictures. It is so beautiful. We booked Oceanview rooms for our entire party and have no regrets. We all got to enjoy beautiful sunsets each morning. The rooms are well-appointed and have luxurious soaps, etc. For those who are curious about what you need to pack, the hairdryers are awesome and there are irons and ironing boards in every room. The robes are also 10/10. Definitely cozy. The housekeeping staff is really attentive and room service was very quick. Also, if you've looked at the virtual tours of the rooms and are concerned, about the glass in the bathrooms/bedroom areas for privacy, the frosted glass is very thick and you can't see through it. It separates the toilet from the shower as well as both of those from the main closet/sink areas. There is also a shade that can be pulled down to fully cover the shower area for full privacy from the bedroom. We found that the hallways echoed a little bit at night due to the concrete flooring but nothing too bad or outside the norm of a hotel/resort. We never heard a peep from the rooms above, below, or beside us. Throughout our trip, I think everyone in our party commented on how clean the resort was. I mean, everywhere. The resort is very well-staffed and there seems to be a team for everything. As an example, there was a night of heavy rain during our trip and there was crew out with squeegees ensuring a glass ceiling was dry in the morning. This place was spotless. Every restaurant was well-staffed and incredibly clean as well. Beyond that, every member of the staff was so welcoming and kind to us throughout the trip, including the Market (the awesome breakfast buffet). I was very impressed by what we saw of the workplace culture that they have developed at the SLS. The employees seemed like they were having a good time with one another and like they took great pride in ensuring the guests were taken care of and enjoying themselves. The hospitality was truly unmatched. We were assigned Román as our on-site butler for the trip and he was awesome! He hooked us up with dinner reservations, made sure my family could watch a big college football game together at the Hudson tavern, and took the stress out of the entire trip. Román was awesome and made us feel so taken care of and at home throughout our stay! They thought of everything in the planning of this resort! There was bug spray available at the Concierge and available at restaurants by request, there was SPF 50 sunscreen available at every pool (and bronzer at the adults only pool), multiple sizes of high chairs available at all of the restaurants, and even outdoor bassinets at the family pool. For all of the amenities, the resort is perfectly compact. It was not a slog to get from one side to the other. The gyms are well-appointed and I never had any issues using the equipment I wanted. If you are coming with family, you can absolutely have a great trip here. If you are coming hoping for an adults-only trip, you can also have a great trip here. We had a mix of both and it was perfect. Overall, we felt like the value of the trip was incredible. As I said, I would return in a heartbeat.
