Incredible stay - 11/10
Myself and a group of 50 friends went on a vacation to the sheraton bijao resort booked through sunwing for our graduation trip (from university). The hotel was above my expectations which is not what I was expecting based on the reviews I read prior to leaving. The reviews worried me a little bit but after spending the week at this incredible resort in Panama, I sure hope that Ii am able to visit again. The food was incredible - there were so many options and everything tasted amazing. There is no way you could go to the buffet and not find something there that you loved. I also have a gluten allergy and had no issues finding food to eat all week. I was completely impressed with how many options i had and didn't have a reaction to the food at all. At the buffet, there were usually 2 different types of meat (pork, beef, chicken and or fish), and always rice, potatoes, pasta, a salad bar, fresh fruit and dessert - plus a ton more breaded options that i couldnt have because of my allergy. The only thing that could've made the buffet better was having the option of ice-cream or something cold for dessert. Thankfully you can buy ice cream in the gift shop! Our room was pretty normal but we didn't spend much time in our room since we wanted to soak up all the sun we could. The pools were all clean and the perfect temperature, and the beach was also beautiful! Just make sure to check the lifeguard stand for advisories because we did have people on our trip that got stung by a stingray and a jellyfish. There is tons to do on the resort between music, water aerobics and sports like beach and pool volleyball, as well as bean bag toss. Our group really wanted to have a kareoke night and so the resort organised that for us and we had a blast! And if you wanted to venture off the resort there were tons of opportunities to do so as well. Our group did various excusursions - i would highly reccommend the catamaran/snorkeling, and ziplining through the anton valley! I really enjoyed by trip to panama and I will have memories that will truly last a lifetime. I am hopeful to return again in the future.
Was very nervous to go to this resort based on some of the previous reviews....I really think this hotel has had a bad rap from some of the guests! Yes....hotel is older....and dated....and there’s a problem with guests saving chairs around the pool and often not using them....and the disc jockey at the pool played super annoying loud music.....but all in all, was a great vacation! Most of the staff could not do enough for us....kudos to Vanessa and the lobby bar staff for putting up with our large group! Front desk was amazing...totally catered to our every need.....food was adequate....some of the buffet items were fantastic...overall, we’ve had better but have had worse too! Rooms were beautiful.....we booked an Oceanfront Suite and loved it! And the beach was stunning.....you could walk for miles, each way without seeing any one! Be prepared for super hot weather....but such a fun vacation....Absolutely would go back if we decided to return to Panama....was a little too hot for some of our group but we were well warned in advance! A huge bonus was being only 15 minutes from the airport....so no long drive after a long flight! Don’t hesitate to book this resort!!
We all loved it!
Clean and lively resort. Food was nice and drinks were super. The hibachi was the best, we went twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Go and see the canal, it’s a great day out. We will be back for sure. It’s such a luxurious resort we will be back for maybe Christmas
This is about a 3 star with maybe a plus. No frills. The food is good, cleanliness is not bad. It wouldn’t take much to step it up a notch but for some reason they don’t. The maids only make the bed and barely replace the towels. There was not hair dryer or iron. Some of the specialty restaurants and drinks( corona) are not included in the all inclusive. I probably would not recommend the resort. I think they need more staffing.
Good Hotel on quiet beach
This is a nice all inclusive hotel that was probably a lot flasher a few years ago. It is looking a little tired and could do with a freshen up. We arrived late at night and the staff did not have our booking right. We were given 2 tatty rooms for the night, but the next morning we were given 2 very nice rooms with a sea view. The food was good ,especially breakfast, and lunch. Dinner was a bit lame but the Japanese Restaurant was very nice. $34 extra per couple, and the Mediterranean restaurant was OK too. Very nice staff, but do not speak much English. Quality beach with a few loungers and shades, but you need to be up at 6.00 to get one. The main drawback was the drinks, they are not very good. The beer was tasteless, and the spirits and mixers not good either. They do have a very good white wine from Chile. The hotel is miles from anywhere, so don’t go thinking you will be able to walk anywhere. Overall it was very good value and I recommend it.
