Nice atmosphere and food but basic communication failures continue
The resort is generally clean and comfortable, and the food is good particularly the buffet. We are currently in the middle of our stay, with another week remaining. The main issue has been communication with the front desk/guest services. Our room phone does not work. Since the day we arrived, we were repeatedly told it would be fixed, but it never was, making those assurances feel empty. Because of the broken phone, we requested a WhatsApp contact for guest services/front desk as an alternative. While our messages are seen, they are not answered. As a result, for basic requests such as towel or shampoo refills, we have to walk to the lobby in person. There are also some minor maintenance issues in the room, including broken cupboard doors and a broken balcony screen door. These are basic service issues, not major complaints. However, clearer communication and follow-through would significantly improve the experience.

3.5 stars the most
I've been in this resort a number of times. The first time, more than 10 years ago, it was really 4.5* to 5* hotel. Not anymore. The most it may be evaluated to 3.5*. The room and overall building need some repair, the fridge was never de-iced, the shower needed to be fixed, the coffee machine was broken. We reported these problems 4-5-6 times (!) with no reveal. The shower had been fixed only in 2 days (that means, 2 days without shower in a tropical environment), and the whole repair took just 5 minutes - after I had brought a manager personally to the room. The coffee machine had been replaced after a week of complains. Buffett: a shortage of everything, whatever you are lucky to catch is yours, than it's too late. It's applicable to food, glasses, even plates: couple of times we had to wait until clean plates are delivered. Even spoons were in a short supply! The quality of food was acceptable, but not as good as it used to be before. Variety of food was also significantly lower than before. The waiters took unused glasses from our table to serve other guests. Seems, like the hotel tried to accommodate more people than they really could. On the beach a couple of times was shortage of loungers because the hotel accommodated guests from the cruise ships, reserving places for them - at our expense. The overall service was OK, but, again, poorer then expected. I doubt I would visit this place again

Nice Relaxing Vacation
We had a very relaxed vacation and were overall pleased with the resort. They say it is a five-star, but I would say more of a four-star compared to other resorts I have stayed at. We don't really care about evening shows or activities organized by the animation team, so I don't have a rating for that. Our room was clean, the AC and fridge were cold, big thumbs up there. The bed was excellent. My husband was disappointed by the lack of beer in the room. I would say it is my first time at an all-inclusive where this wasn't provided. We were greeted the first morning by Walkerlin, who immediately made our dinner reservations; we thought this was fantastic. We didn't have to line up at a desk or anything. There was no lobby bar and no nightclub. There was a sports bar, but in the evening, it was super crowded and very loud. It was a big tiled space, so sound bounced all over like an empty warehouse. We prefer a more chill setting, like a lobby bar with nice cocktails. I will say the sports bar staff were very attentive and worked very hard. The grounds were beautiful and very clean. There was very limited drink service by the pool and zero at the beach. Definitely not five-star service. If you wanted a drink, you had to hoof it to the pool bar. Bar staff were very friendly and attentive; I think there was just a serious lack of servers beyond bartenders compared to other five-stars we have been at. We aren't swim-up bar people, so I can't comment on that pool, which was recently renovated. We spent our time at the waterfall pool. It was very easy to get a good spot and an umbrella. The pool bottom had seen better days, but I assume it is next up for repairs. Food was good. We enjoyed the buffet, sports bar, and steakhouse. The Italian was mediocre, but I find that common in resorts. The pizza place was terrible. It smelled of burnt cheese and was basically like a freezer pizza crust with dried-out cheese on it. No sauce to speak of. I don't go on vacation for pizza, so this wasn't a big issue. Coffee came from machines, which was kind of a bummer because Dominican coffee is excellent. The beach was rocky, so if that is an issue for you, take that into consideration. We wore our swim shoes and enjoyed bobbing around. If we got a great deal, we would go back. Set your expectations for a low four-star, and you will enjoy yourself. Staff were lovely; the site was beautiful.
