Nice Relaxing Vacation
We had a very relaxed vacation and were overall pleased with the resort. They say it is a five-star, but I would say more of a four-star compared to other resorts I have stayed at. We don't really care about evening shows or activities organized by the animation team, so I don't have a rating for that. Our room was clean, the AC and fridge were cold, big thumbs up there. The bed was excellent. My husband was disappointed by the lack of beer in the room. I would say it is my first time at an all-inclusive where this wasn't provided. We were greeted the first morning by Walkerlin, who immediately made our dinner reservations; we thought this was fantastic. We didn't have to line up at a desk or anything. There was no lobby bar and no nightclub. There was a sports bar, but in the evening, it was super crowded and very loud. It was a big tiled space, so sound bounced all over like an empty warehouse. We prefer a more chill setting, like a lobby bar with nice cocktails. I will say the sports bar staff were very attentive and worked very hard. The grounds were beautiful and very clean. There was very limited drink service by the pool and zero at the beach. Definitely not five-star service. If you wanted a drink, you had to hoof it to the pool bar. Bar staff were very friendly and attentive; I think there was just a serious lack of servers beyond bartenders compared to other five-stars we have been at. We aren't swim-up bar people, so I can't comment on that pool, which was recently renovated. We spent our time at the waterfall pool. It was very easy to get a good spot and an umbrella. The pool bottom had seen better days, but I assume it is next up for repairs. Food was good. We enjoyed the buffet, sports bar, and steakhouse. The Italian was mediocre, but I find that common in resorts. The pizza place was terrible. It smelled of burnt cheese and was basically like a freezer pizza crust with dried-out cheese on it. No sauce to speak of. I don't go on vacation for pizza, so this wasn't a big issue. Coffee came from machines, which was kind of a bummer because Dominican coffee is excellent. The beach was rocky, so if that is an issue for you, take that into consideration. We wore our swim shoes and enjoyed bobbing around. If we got a great deal, we would go back. Set your expectations for a low four-star, and you will enjoy yourself. Staff were lovely; the site was beautiful.

The Only resort that I've been to more then Once!
I just can't say enough about this place. We love pretty much everything about it. The grounds are kept up and the resort seems to try to keep everyone happy. Last week another truck load of Umbrellas arrived with stands. The buffet has great quality and variety. Salad bar has mixed lettuce, shredded carrots, cabbage, Onions, tomatoes, cucumbers multiple sauces a cheese counter, bread counter. Different themed nights like Seafood, Asian and others. My favorite foods were the breaded pork Schnitzel, Sweet and sour pork, Fajita beef with peppers, Mashed potatoes, sauteed carrots, The pasta bar. Pizza bar, Garlic bread & bruchetta bread. For breakfast they had 2 omelette bars, fresh warm donuts every morning, Raw Honey, a Yogourt bar, fruit bar, juice bar, baked goods like cinnamon rolls and danishes, poridge, Bacon almost everyday, The beach has lots of trees for shade but also sun and it's quiet for those who want peace. The pool has music and activities most of the day for those of us Like myself who want some excitement and they play a nice mix of music like Classic Rock, pop & Dominican. Entertainment crew will keep you busy if you wish with lots of activities that they offer like Boccee ball, Horseshoes, darts, mini golf, bean bag toss, washoos , frisbee toss. Friday is the Coconut party at the beach, Saturday is beer drinking competition followed by the Pool foam party, Sunday evening is the Beach party, then they have nightly shows, silence disco and karaokee. You can also enjoy the adjoining resort Playabacha and go to their entertainment ( Michael Jackson show ) etc and you can go to their buffets and a la carte as well if you wish. Senator has a huge sports bar with a menu to order. You can view the cruise ships coming into the bay or you can walk down to the small market to see the turtles and birds. The entertainment crew is the best I've experienced anywhere and I've been to many resorts. Skinny, Monkey, Blacky, Shorty, Blondie, Shampoo, The water aerobics guys and more who's name I can't remember off hand. Also the staff in the buffet who go above and beyond to make sure you are happy... Ann Marie, Marcel to name a few. And of course the wonderful Bartenders who put up with us all week. We will be back again in January for 4 weeks.

Good vacation herr senator puerto plata
The hotel is great, the location is amazing right by the ocean, the food is good, but the entire staff is fantastic — everyone is smiling, cheerful, and helpful. And the best of all is the animation team, Blacky Boy and the others — they’re brilliant and bring so much positive energy every day. The best holidays in the Dominican Republic are right here.

Great spot.
You couldn’t find a better location. The level of cleanliness was 10/10. Food 7/10. Noise level at pool too high. Music too loud. Value was great. Rooms were dated but nice. Service as great. Atmosphere wonderful. I would go back.
