    Highly Recommended All Inclusive

Recently stayed at Secrets the Vine for my boyfriend's birthday. I loved the look of the hotel and our room was amazing and spacious. We had no complaints during our stay and would definitely book here again or at other Secrets hotels. We did a couples massage and the spa services were excellent and the pre-massage hydrotherapy was wonderful. The staff was friendly and there was a good variety of restaurants. Also, as LGBTQ travelers, we felt welcome and appreciated that the hotel was adults only. Overall, would highly recommend staying at Secrets the Vine.

Actual rating 3.5, Beautiful hotel, but definitely lacked some things

Hubs and I went to Secrets the Vine for our wedding anniversary. PROS: THE FOOD. The food was overall very good. I saw some reviews that weren't impressed with the food, but we found most all the food at both the buffets and the restaurants to be very good. With the exception of one night at the Bluewater Grill, when the service and food were awful, but I think it was a fluke though, because the first night we went there, it was fantastic. STAFF. The staff throughout the hotel is very nice and helpful. We were always greeted with a smile and everyone seemed to want to help in some way. CONS: When we arrived and checked in, after we had already upgraded our room, we were sat down and they tried to talk us into purchasing something, still not sure what, but I think a timeshare or something, but anyway it was a sales gimmick, for sure, and I told them no at least 4 times, and finally had to be ugly and tell them "IT'S A HARD NO FROM US". We were tired after traveling all day and just wanted to relax in our room. That was extremely annoying. I am not a fan of sales people going ON and ON when I specifically already told them NO. We also went to dinner at one of the restaurants and asked to be seated in the middle of the restaurant and they told us "no, that is for the guests with the wine package." Another sales gimmick to get people to purchase a wine package at an all inclusive, that I will never understand. None of the guests were sitting in that area and we found it hilarious in the end because the whole center of the restaurant was empty and the perimeter was full of us regular folks. ahaha.. This hotel also lacked activities. It's not really a place to go and snorkel or do any beach activities as the hotel beach area is very small and very rough, although it could have been just the time of year that we went as far as the rough waters/etc. The hotel itself did not have a lot of activities going on either. The pool area would have some stuff during the day, like games or things. And usually a band or something at night. But usually it was only one activity every couple of hours, so no real choices if you didn't want to be out by the pool or beach that day. They also advertised a wine tasting every day at 1p and 3p and we showed up for the 1p tasting and no one showed. After checking with 3 different people, and being told "yes, they will have the tasting, just wait by the piano"....we waited an extra 15 min past the show time then figured they didn't know what was going on. SUMMARY: I guess my actual rating is about a 3.5. It was a nice trip, but probably just not up to our expectations, so we don't intend to return. The room and the view from our room was amazing and I am thankful that we upgraded. The views took my breath away. I think if you like sitting by the beach or the pool all day then this place is for you. If you need more adventure, probably not the place for you. We really wanted to snorkel and do some water activities at the hotel, and unfortunately, we had to miss out unless we planned an excursion away(which thankfully, we did) from the hotel which, for me, defeats the purpose of going to an all inclusive.

The Great, the K and NOT so great...

We went there with 2 other couples over Easter...here are my comments: Check-in and Room: 1. Check-in was efficient 2. Our luggage arrived super quick 3. Wish someone would have explained the lights to us as I only discovered there were multiple switch places on my 3rd day after one of the other couples told us about it. There are a separate set of light switches under the bathroom mirror just for the bathroom… which would have been good to know in advance as some nights or morning my husband or I would get up earlier than the other and would end up waking the other person up b/c there were no light options lol - so we suggest having a walk-thru when you first check in. There is this shooting light next to the toilet that made it very hard to sleep so I finally put a towel on the garbage to block it. 4. Showers were great, appreciate the big attached bottles for shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. 5. Plenty of towels - wish there were hooks to hang stuff. 6. We were on the 10th floor and had a great room with a huge balcony, we faced the other resort (Sandals). It would be great if we had more seats outside as we would have loved having our friends come over and just hang out in our balcony. I didn't hear the music from the other resort when the patio door was closed. 7. Rooms were always clean and they did a great job :) Buffet, Cafe & Restaurants: 1. Loved the breakfast and Lunch buffet. I don't understand why you don't have a dinner buffet? It wld be nice to just show up and have dinner b/c some of the restaurants were selective about dress code. Italian restaurant turned our male friend away because he had dress shorts on but I as a female was allowed in with shorts on. - special shout out to Samuel at the buffet for taking such good care of us as a group. He was always greeted us with a smile and very quickly learned what we liked to drink. - all the staff working at the buffet was great. - I don't remember the name of the female cook that made eggs in the morning but she was wonderful, literally service with a smile. 2. Cafe - AMAZING!! other resorts need to learn from you guys. Best idea ever ever!! super convenient and amazing service. The latte's were sooo yummy and that cake...mmmm I am sure I still dream about it lol 3. Restaurants - Not So Great moment - honestly not impressed - service was super slow, we waited over 1 hr to get our food at the Italian restaurant - one night we went to the steak restaurant, since we were a large group we knew we wld have to wait. We got there for 9:30pm, again the service was super slow… after our dinner was cleared we waited for 20 mins for someone to come see us and when they did we asked about dessert and they said it was past 11pm and the kitchen is closed. We said we have been waiting and you never came to see us. At that time we were getting ready to leave and as we took out $ to tip, that seemed to have changed his mind and he was like let me see what I can do... we were not impressed. - appetizers at the Asian restaurant were the best, mains not so much. - sports bar has some delicious snacks, sauce for the wings is yummy. Food - we loved how on some days around 1ish they would bring smalls apps to the pool for people to taste, we all thought that was super creative and yummy. We LOVED the food at the bar by the pool and the special taco stand, coconut water stand...just perfect. 4. Service at the Pool - OMG!!! The best - Juan, Roberto, Lisbeth and others whose name I can't remember were amazing!!! soooooo sweet and always there giving us plenty of drink options and keeping us hydrated. And again service with a smile :) 5. Entertainment Crew - one of the best we have ever seen. Angel, Sergio, Robert, Andrew and everyone else were just AWESOME!!! Super engaging, funny and present. ANGEL is national treasure and he should be protected. You guys are soooooooooo lucky to have him at your resort. Question - why don't they have a microphone? We felt sooo bad that they would have to yell super loud for ppl not at the small pool to hear them. They are standing out in hella hot days with no microphone? come on??? please give them that so that everyone can actually hear them. 6. Not So Great moments - Timeshare/buy a bottle of wine - what is up with that? I don't need anyone coming to me 3/4 times a day asking if I want to get a bottle of wine with dinner or get $200 off if I come to some time share sitting. Once I say no, that should be enough. I shouldn’t feel like I am being nagged every day. I am sure they don't enjoy doing that either. It is not fun for any of us. Set up a booth and get the entertainment crew to announce pre/post activity if you are interested in doing X see them at X point. It was bit much with buy/come/VIP like NO!!! Please stop and let me enjoy my vacay. Thank you :)

    Review April 2024

We had an amazing experience at Secret the Vine. The food and entertainment was great. The staff, especially Cesar, Bernabe, Bamaca, Lucy, and Patricia were so kind and helpful at the Market Cafe. This was our favorite hotel we’ve stayed at here in Cancun. We would definitely come back!
