Nov 10, 2025Romantic stay, intimate vibe, many wonderful staff members, and great food.
Had a wonderful time! Rooms felt like I had a mini-home to stay at by the beach instead of a regular hotel room. Room was clean, plenty of amenities like a robe or slippers (upon request) provided, romantic views and an intimate vibe, and 24hr room service provided. Staff was great, respectful, kind and helpful! Especially the housekeeping team, lobby staff like Jose, servers and hostess like Alba at The Marker Cafe and Carolina and our server from the reserve-only hibachi grill, bartenders like Donald, shuttle drivers like Fan and Nelson, and our destination services guide Roderigo who also greeted us before we went into the van of our first tour to ensure it all started smoothly. Food was great, especially The Market Cafe, the hibachi grill, and Portofino the Italian restaurant, and we enjoyed the ice cream and coffee and smoothies at the Coco Cafe (we often went there after lunch and after dinner). The asian cuisine from Himitsu could use some improvement though- for example, the Tom Yum soup, a sour soup from Thailand did not taste as it should have but instead tasted like a mildly savory clam soup. Loved all the activities that were provided at the resort- billiard table, books to borrow, board games like chess, kayaking, kareoke nights, etc. which made the resort enjoyable to relax at when you weren’t outside on a tour. Overall, great experience.

Beautiful resort, amazing staff, and unforgettable views
We had an amazing 5-day stay at Secrets Papagayo. The weather couldn’t have been better – sunny blue skies every single day. The resort is beautifully designed, with tropical gardens and cozy bungalows surrounded by nature. We stayed on the spa side, which was quiet and relaxing, perfect for unwinding. It took us about 10 minutes to walk along the beach to reach the main pool and restaurants, which we actually enjoyed doing. When it was dark or during high tide, the shuttle service was very efficient and came right away. The local people we met on the beach were also very kind and friendly, which made our experience even better. We also did a few excursions with nexttripcr.com, and everything went smoothly. Our guide Luis took great care of us and shared so much interesting information about Costa Rica’s culture, nature, and wildlife. We visited Buena Vista Adventure Park, the sloth sanctuary, and a stunning waterfall hike,all excellent experiences. The traditional lunch at the ranch was delicious and truly authentic.

Great time at Secrets Papagayo!
We had an awesome time at Secrets Papagayo. The staff are amazing and the food is good too. The resort is larger than we thought. Hope we can get back soon!

Unforgettable 50th Birthday Celebration at Secrets Papagayo, Costa Rica!
8 of us traveled to Secrets Papagayo to celebrate a dear friend’s 50th birthday—a girl’s trip, exhilarating, and a much-needed get away!!! From the moment we arrived, the entire resort felt like a hidden escape .. greeted with champagne and a cool cloth… stunning views, beautiful grounds, and an atmosphere that instantly puts you in vacation mode. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the food and drinks were amazing, and every corner of the property felt designed for relaxation and celebration. We laughed, explored, ate well, and fully embraced the “Pura Vida” spirit. There were nightly entertainment. We loved, loved, loved the cultural dancing, awesome DJ and karaoke night!!! The absolute highlight of our stay was the spa. I had a massage with Heylin, and she was phenomenal — truly one of the best spa experiences I’ve ever had. She was attentive, skilled, and made the entire treatment feel personalized and deeply relaxing—I fell asleep during my message☺️ If you’re visiting, ask for Heylin — she is magic! This trip was everything we hoped for despite of the weather challenges.. it rained intermittently due to a hurricane on the Caribbean side —but we got sunshine & overcast just enough to enjoy our excursion & poolside fun!! We made unforgettable memories in a beautiful setting to celebrate a milestone birthday of our dear friend . We’re already dreaming of returning

We came for our honeymoon and we do not want to leave. This place is incredible. It has our hearts!
The people here are amazing, the grounds are incredible, romantic dinner and breakfast in bed were amazing!!! The pool activities were out of this world.
