Amazing, relaxing & luxurious experience
This place is top notch, gorgeous property, the food is delicious, entertainment is amazing, and the service I received from my concerning to the bell man was outstanding. You do not need to leave for anything its all right there. I appreciate everyone's effort & customer service at this resort
We stayed at Secrets for 14 nights in March, our 4th visit, always in March. We've always been very impressed, hence 4 visits! But this year we were at Secrets Maroma when corona virus became a global crisis. Although occupancy plumetted, the management and staff remained efficient, professional and always sooooo friendly and smiling. The entertainment team, lead by Paul, were always so cheerful and enthusiastic even though the number of participants dwindled. We loved engaging with Cesar, Charlie, Noemi, Astrubal(great Spanish teacher), Andrea, Jose Luis, Ivan, Veronica and any others on that amazing team that I've left out. At the pool we were tended to by Edy, Balbina, Bernadina, Alberto Wilberth and many other smiling people. We loved the food in all the restaurants, and even when some were obliged to close, the choice of food remained excellent. The staff at World Cafe were very patient with my bad Spanish and could not do enough for us. A big thanks to all there including Darwin, Freddie, Antonio, Luis, Lucio, Tania, Jesus, Hugo and any others I've omitted. This year we stayed in a swim up room in block 15 although we had to move to block 26 half way through. I preferred 15, and would choose this again if I could. The housekeeping staff did an amazing job from beginning to end. And a mention to Roger who took care of our taxi transfer back to the airport, when our original booking fell through without notice. To finish, we were amazed at how management and the entire team at Secrets coped with a rapidly worsening situation. They were efficient, dignified and professional with always a cheerful smile. We hope to see all of you guys again next March!
Graat help in time of sickness
We stayed at Secrets Maroma for two weeks. The first days we had a great time at the pool. Brandon, Edy and many others took care of us. Then my wife went ill.We had to call the hotel doctor who did everything she could. We could phone her at all times. Medicines were delivered through the conscierges, first Marianne and later Roberto. Those two were lovely people who helped us where possible. We also could call roomservice and could order everything we want to. Secrets Maroma really is your home away from home.
Very Clean, Great Beach, Fun at the beach and Pool, Lacks life at night
Had a great time with friends at this resort in the 1st week in March. Definitely the highlight here was hanging with my friends. Best part of this place is the Beach! Almost as nice as Bavarro Beach in Punta Cana or 7 mile beach in Grand Cayman. Place was extremely clean and the staff was very nice. Staff was great and one of the better parts of the resort. I have to say special thanks to Tania and Sara the servers at breakfast. They deserve a raise and promotion for their friendly faces and great service! They were so attentive to me the morning after I came back from a night at Coco Bongo. Even gave me special drink they drink in Mexico to help cure hangovers. Tell them Vicente or Ciente says Thank You!! Great smiling girls that made me feel better and provided great service. Herti was great too at breakfast. I want to say thank you to Graciela every morning for making my Omlettes with a smile. Loved all the bartenders and waiters at the pool area and beach area. They all called me ciente like the singer. I wish I could remember all their names and feel bad I can't remember all but they were ALL great and always called me by name to say hello to me and ask how my day was. Great service by the pool and by the beach. Even one time in the rain the service was great they kept serving us by the beach. I did my best to tip all of them for such great service. Also, the entertainment staff was great. Had me join so many games, especially beach volleyball and pool volleball which I love! Foam party was fun! Cesar was fun and the whole staff kept us involved. Great job! The reason I would come back to this resort is because they have nice freindly staff. They should all be rewarded for how well they take care of everyone. Now is my critique of the resort and this is not including the staff but the resort owners and management in this part. For how much this place costs and as a 5 star I do not think it was up to expectations. Why do I say this? I felt that as fun as it was in the daytime, it was pretty dead at night. Other resorts I've been to are more lively. After this vacation I went straight to two weeks at Panama Jack Cancun for example and they had live cover bands every night come play and got the crowd singing along and dancing every single night. From covers from the Beatles to Bruno Mars etc. Much more lively. Even set up a dance floor on the beach hand had a live band play as we all danced on the beach at night. But Secrets on the other hand is a resort so far from 5th ave in Playa del carmen or the Cancun strip that hiring really good entertainment acts at night to come in and perform should be a must. I felt as trapped as I do on a cruise but on a resort except the night I left and went to Coco Bongo. Next, the food definitely was not on par with other resorts I've been to. Even the Bonuelos were soft/soggy. Definitely not authentic at all(I know it's a resort) But again at my next stay at the next part of my trip I definitely had my fill of authentic Mexican food. Best way to describe the food was eating in the suburbs instead of the good restaurants in the city. I really only liked a few dishes in my whole 1 week stay here. For good food example at a resort see RIU Palace. Next is for such a large piece of land the gym was tiny and packed. Other resorts I've stayed has much more equipment and weights. I felt there was no room at times and not many people were in the gym. Honestly I was so bored at night if it was 24 hours I probably would have worked out at night before sleeping. Rated as a 5 star but the only 5 star part is the workers and friendly attentive staff, servers, bartenders and entertainment staff. I would come back just because of them. The food definitely needs an upgrade, the entertainment is not up to par, I'm older but not dead. Love the cleanliness of the place though. Definitely not a 5 star, but not bad either. Don't know if I would stay at a secrets again. I felt like I was in the suburbs food and entertainment wise here. BEACH IS AMAZING THOUGH!! STAFF WAS AMAZING!!
This honeymoon was absolutly incredible! Hotel was stunning, great food and even better cocktails!! we had a honeymoon suite which meant we had our own personal staff member to help us with anything we needed - always greeting us with a smile and good morning mr and mrs hurst. We had the best room deliverys with champagne and fruit as a regular! we would often enjoy a glass in our balcony jacuzzi watching the sun go down. The pool service was brilliant - great snacks brought to you and never without a fresh drink in your hand. even when down at the beach you could get drinks brough to you without a problem. day excursions - we enjoyed going out for the day on diferent day trips - including swimming with wild turtles, xel hal and coco bongos (A MUST). we also got a taxi into cancun for shopping and lunch which was lovely. honestly dream about going back here all the time, best place!!!
