Secrets Maroma Vacation: Detailed review of our stay (Jan/Feb 2026): Fabulous Stay, overall
We really enjoyed our stay at Secrets Maroma. The staff was extremely friendly and kind. Some of our favourite staff were: Roger, our concierge, Marvin one of the waiters at the Pool Bar, Sarah a waitress in the buffet restaurant, Humberto who filled our fridge, our cleaning lady (I think her name was Ana) and Daniel in the Gift Shop. Daniel helped me practice my Spanish and he was so gracious to me while I practiced speaking Spanish. RESORT/BEACH: The grounds are so lush and tropical. The view from our swimout was gorgeous, with the tropical plants. The grounds were upkept beautifully. The beach is truly heavenly, and it is the nicest beach that I have ever set foot on in real life. SWIMOUT: The swimouts are really beautiful, but it is strange that there is only one lounge chair per swimout. It felt awkward to be on the terraza and have to take turns on the lounge chair. The view from the swimout was pleasant, as the grounds around are so lush and tropical. The swimouts are heated, but a couple of degrees warmer would have been nice, especially when it was overcast and breezy out. POOL/HOT TUB: We walked around the pool area, but didn't take advantage of the pool because we spent our free time in our swimout. The Hot Tub was much cooler than we had expected. The weather wasn't great when we were there (end of January/beginning of February 2026), but that's not something that the resort has any control over, obviously, however a warmer hot tub would have been nice. FOOD: The food was really very good, and much better than we had expected (based on our previous experience at a different Cancun All Inclusive Resort). It was nice that we didn't have to make reservations, as it was first come, first served. We were disappointed in Restaurants being closed frequently during our stay, and it was difficult to plan if each day there were different restaurant closures to contend with. Room Service was good, and room service staff were exceptional. The Coco Cafe, open 24 hours, was a delightful place to visit for drinks and pastries/baking. The staff were always willing to make orders to go, and even make items not on the menu (London Fog Latte - Earl Grey Tea Latte). APP: We downloaded the app before arriving, and were easily able to log in and start using the App right away. The App is so user friendly and we enjoyed using the App for information, and room service. We also really appreciated receiving a daily text from our Concierge every day (except his one day off). It would have been nice to receive the daily text on that day, also. Perhaps that is something that could be automated, and could be sent even on the Concierge's day off. LIKE: The resort grouds and the layout of the resort are really spectacular. The beach/ocean is incredible, and truly lovely. The food was really great. DISLIKE: We were disappointed in areas on the resort being closed frequently during our stay for "Private Events". After paying for the Preferred Club Level at the resort, we felt it was unfair to be restricted from different areas daily, including restaurants closed for Private Events frequently during our stay. Even the Preferred Club Restaurant/Beach Club was closed at times during our stay. We didn't enjoy the nickel and diming and extra expenses at the resort (specific seating at the front of events, Beach/Bali Beds, upselling at Restaurants, etc.) We wanted to stay at an All Inclusive so we didn't have to be bothered with "extra expenses". We strongly disliked being pressured into some kind of a time share talk at check in. We don't pay this much for a vacation to go relax to be bothered to participate in a meeting during our vacation. We would recommend Secrets Maroma, and we would definitely consider staying at other Secrets or Dreams resorts in the future.

Lightning in a Bottle
Secrets at Maroma Beach was able to capture lightning in a bottle. I cannot think of a single negative experience from the moment I stepped foot on the premises. The people are what makes this place special and all of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

Can’t wait to go back!
We loved everything about our stay! The resort was the perfect size! Other resorts seem so spread out! There are 2 central spots that have everything you need. The beach was beautiful and well cared for. And the pools were amazing too. You can have the best of both worlds - sitting on at the pool while having a break taking view of the beach. We did the Preferred Club and never regretted that. Our concierge, Marcelo, was THE BEST! He coordinated w others on the resort to make our stay perfect. He went above and beyond our whole stay! Even rose petals for our anniversary. It was the sweetest surprise.

First day at Secrets Maroma Beach
This was our first time to Secrets Maroma Beach, when we arrived check in was a little slow, they told us to have a seat at the lobby bar till they could send over somebody from the unlimited club. After waiting for 15+ minutes, the person finally arrived. He wasn’t very pushy once we let him know we were not interested, but I don’t not like that being pushed on me the minute I arrive at the hotel. A room wasn’t ready yet so we proceeded to go check out the resort and grab lunch. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful. Food was good at every restaurant. We tried along with the buffet in cabana service. No complaints there. The pools are beautiful and the main pool is heated and plenty of chairs for everybody probably the most chairs that I’ve seen at a secret resort around the pool area areas. We use the spa on three separate days for services and the service was fantastic, I would highly recommend doing the spa. I was assigned a concierge in my building. His name is Miguel, and he was terrific and extremely helpful during our entire stay. Always smiling every time we ran into him and you could tell he really enjoyed his job and he’s very good at it. The service from all the waiters at the cabanas, which is what we had every day of our stay was fantastic. Everybody was extremely friendly and loved to engage in conversations with us. The entertainment staff were great and they always had something going on to keep you busy. We only had one dinner where we had to wait at the Mexican restaurant El patio. We arrived at 6:30 and did not get seated at a table until 8:30 PM and the dinner itself took another two hours so our entire dinner ate up four hours from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM. That was the only real complaint. I have with a hotel. I will definitely be going back as we loved everything about it.

We had a great holiday
Fabulous hotel with delightful staff who genuinely went the extra mile to make sure we felt looked after. There was an excellent range of food on offer. The resort was immaculate with lots of interesting wildlife including mongooses, iguanas and bird life. Beautiful, clean pools and the room was large and comfortable.
