Great beach, drinks and food, friendly service
Lovely beach next to a private section, relatively quiet and beautiful. Good food and drink (Santiago at the rear pool bar is a great bartender). Enjoyable pools and all around great location for relaxation. Staff were all lovely :)
Our room was very clean and cleaning staff did a great job. We didn't like the fact that our toilet area did not have a door (?) and we mentioned it but nothing was done. Food was "ok". Bordeaux was our favorite restaurant and in tact the beef was awesome!! I agree with another reviewer, vegetables on the plate were more for decoration and were scarce. Buffet was awful. We ate at Oceana each morning and their breakfast was good. Food in the Preferred Club was so-so, most days same food from a.m. was there in the afternoon. Beach was nice, beach service was great. Angel, in the Preferred Club lounge was an amazing bartender!
Outdated Hotel-Sub Par
The resort is much more outdated than I expected. I expected a better level overall from a Secrets, but was disappointed. This resort is not as "high end" or nice as you would think when seeing the Secrets commercials. This resort does have a nice beach front, beautiful water, and a nice pier. The pools are nice and there is one with a swim up bar Guest rooms: The room was very outdated. We were are the very back of the property and had a feeling maybe not all the rooms were quite as outdated. They were at a very low occupancy and we asked the front desk if we could move to a nicer room and closer to the beach, they said no. We were willing to pay for an upgraded room. Were disappointed they wouldn't let us move even with such limited occupancy. In our room, it was obvious it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in some time. Housekeeping came in and made the bed, took out the trash, and restocked. But never really did any cleaning. Our sheets were never changed. The floor was gross. Every night before getting into bed after walking around in the room, we had to wash our feet. The rooms do have a stocked mini fridge which was nice. On the patio there was also a nice hammock. Restaurants: We tried all the restaurants and I thought all of the food was just ok. I wouldn't say it was bad, but it also wasn't good. At the end of the week we were happy to go home to better food. The portions were extremely small. Like our meal came with vegetables, well one piece of broccoli and two spears of asparagus. All the vegetables and sides of dishes were more there for decor than to eat. Everything overall was very bland. We went to the Mexican restaurant and were so disappointed at the bland food. Only positive is everything is included Service: I thought overall the service was good by the employees. All staff members were nice. Even though this is an all inclusive, don't forget to tip your servers and staff members a little something. We came here for our honeymoon and left disappointed
Amazing As Always
This was our 7th visit and once again we were not disappointed. The coronavirus was just hitting the resort as far as visitors and the staff did an amazing job of trying to accomodate guests as the US government ordered everyone to travel back to the US. We were able to get a few days of our stay completed and have to acknowledge a few people who always , always, always make our stay so enjoyable. Cynthia at the front desk is always a dream with her friendly, professional and smiling attitude. The concierge guys Yusef and Fernando who greet you upon arrival with a "Welcome Home" are so inviting. Captain Luis at Oceana ( formerly was at Bordeaux) is the most consumate professional and so friendly. Bartender Luis is always ready with a smile and ready to make whatever kind of cocktail you want. If you don't know what you want, he will make something for you that you will truly enjoy and will be a one of a kind. Joseph the Head Waiter at Bordeaux was so pleasant and provided an excellent dinner. Javier Samfer is truly the one who goes above and beyond. What a gem this man is. Others who deserve a shoutout will be Armondo the bartender who always has a smile on his face, Marcos the waiter at Oceana, the maid we had in room 1443 from March 18-21, Vicky and Adella the beach waitresses - the two of you work so hard every day! The rest of the staff who greet you with Hola any time they see you are phenomenal. Our room was fantastic, the pools were fantastic, the beach was fantastic, the food was fantastic, the entertainment was fantastic, the drinks were fantastic, well - you get the idea. We will definitely be back as soon as the coronavirus passes to continue the rest of our vacation. We can hardly wait! Kevin and Kris Strom
Great stay at Secrets Aura Cozumel.
Lots of food choices as you can use the restaurants at the neighboring Sunscape. Snorkeling from the beach is simply amazing Our room had a pool view, and an ocean view. Great spot to sit and enjoy the evening. Preferred pool was awesome. Beach chairs were comfy. All bar tenders and waiters were exceptional. Friendly and efficient. My FAVORITE bar tender works in the Preferred Lounge. Angel. He is super knowledgeable about cocktails and liquor in general. A wealth of knowledge. Ask him for an espresso cocktail with vodka. To die for.......or for the classical Negroni. Yum. 💕👌 It was a stressful week to be on vacation, but the staff always made us feel well cared for.
