    Excellent Kids Club Experience

    I will write two reviews for Sandos, as it was a holiday of two halves for us (not all great) but I wanted to make sure that the kids club receive the recognition they deserve. The kids club team at Sandos were nothing short of brilliant with my boys (6 year old and 9 year old). I was apprehensive before arriving but I need not have been. My boys absolutely loved it there and for the very first time my 6 year old begged me to go back to kids club. He wasn’t interested anywhere else we have been! The girls (especially Regina and Valeria) but all of them whose names I can’t now remember made it memorable for my boys. They did things like swimming games in their private pool, swimming competitions in the main family pool, soccer on the beach, played in their private kids club playground/garden, fed Poncho and Lola (the donkey and bull?), lots of arts and crafts, video games (in the ultra cool teens area by the cupcake cafe) to name a few. They also took part in the evening 80s show as Ghostbusters (which they had to rehearse for) and other evening entertainment. And Halloween- well there were so many activities for the kids organised by kids club…the boys decorated their own trick or treat bags by the pool during the day. Nothing was too much trouble - one of the kids club girls walked all the way back to the kids club to pick up glitter glue as the boys really wanted to write their names on their bags. There was a magnificent mass trick or treat going round the hotel which ended on the beach in a spectacular way. Right before the brief rain downpour and a beautiful rainbow. I asked my boys what they loved most about our holiday. 1 was Chichen Itza, 2 was swimming with Turtles and 3 was kids club! I asked why Kids Club? They said it was because of the loads of activities and the people at kids club were fun and friendly. There you have it. Kids club opens at 10am, there’s a break 1-2 when you must have your children back with you. They open again at 2pm (I think until 8pm but not sure on that). The kids club building is located near the spa and tennis courts. We were not allowed in and no shoes allowed only socks. It was air conditioned and spacious from what I could see from the front door.

    Good 4 stars but not perfect

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Stay Overall! We just got back from Sandos Playacar, and overall we had a great time! The good: The beach is amazing – wide, clean, and beautiful. The resort grounds are stunning, full of greenery and wildlife, so it really feels like a little rainforest. We loved the bracelet room keys (super convenient) and the cooler in the room. Food was very good, at the buffet and at the à la carte restaurants. The staff were friendly and polite, though most don’t speak much English. The not-so-good: The resort is a bit more dated than expected. Our biggest issue was the shuttle service – it’s supposed to run every 15 minutes, but when you get there the shuttle is full so you have to wait again. It might not bother guests staying near the ocean, but we were in the family section, quite far from the beach, buffet, and entertainment, so the wait (especially in the heat) was frustrating. We also saw a few cockroaches in the room plas leacking air conditioner. Service and management could improve. I would really like to cancel the spa appointment over the phone, not in person. I don't have to ask for extra bed sheets 3 times before it arrives. The guys who supposed to help us with moving to another room showed up after we fully unpacked in the new room. It would also be nice to have waitstaff at the beach once in a while and to allow beachwear at the snack bar—makes more sense when you’ve got hungry kids! If you improve shuttle services this place would be amazing. Big thanks to the doctor that helped us( extra cost). Bartenders in family section are amazing!

    5th ave bar service

    José and Miriam have made our stay at Sandos memorable. Their service and friendship at 5th avenue bar throughout our stay has been wonderful and enhanced our experience. We look forward to seeing them during future viixts to Sandos plays car!
