Horrible
Don’t go. I am here right now at sandos cancun. We had a leak in our room and it ruined a bunch of our stuff and they spent 1.5 hours fixing it so that is time out of my vacation. Cell reception is the worst I have ever experienced, keeps cutting out every 2-3 minutes. Green sludge in pool. Don’t go to the buffet cause food is horrible there. And I ordered room service and it was 1.5 hours both times I ordered. There are lots of good hotels please choose another one.

Relaxing and beautiful beach but food just OK
Overall, the stay was good - the staff are all extremely friendly and work hard to ensure a pleasant stay. Cesar at Frattinis was particularly lovely and made our dinner there very special. Joe did an amazing job at Gaijin as our dinner chef. The pools are nice and there is enough room so you don’t feel crowded on one another. Given the off season, we did not have any trouble getting a cabana each day. There is certainly a relaxing vibe, especially in the mornings when they set up low music as the day gets going. The beach is also beautiful and we enjoyed amazing sunrises each morning. Our room was nice - very big and cleaned extremely well each day. They provide bottled water along with a mini bar stocked with sodas and beer. One area of improvement would be the food. The buffet had a wide selection of choices and we had several breakfasts and lunches there. The other restaurants where you need reservations were just OK. The portions were very small and menus were pre-set resulting in little to no choice at the meal. I was hoping that there would be more authentic Mexican options at one or two of the restaurants but we did not find that. We have stayed at other resorts in Cancun which just had more variety and better food overall. Finally, the app didn’t work very well. There should be another way to get a confirmation of dinner reservations made, otherwise it is hard to remember dates and times.

Two weeks as one moment...
Sandos Cancun can best be utilized as a home base for further exploration of the area, like parasailing or exploring the authentic Mexican bone marrow tacos at local steakhouses like Porfirio’s which is around the corner and will be a welcome respite from hotel restaurant dinner fare. Sandos is currently booking as many wedding parties as possible and busing the guests in two coaches at a time. As I checked in to the hotel, the negotiations began. There was an issue regarding the promotion that Expedia and the hotel were advertising for the hotel spa, but the business was smoothed over by Stephano, the front desk manager, and Luis, the manager at the spa. We ended up signing up for seven massages and hydrotherapy treatments between the two of us. Mario and Mily, our massage therapists, took excellent care of us and made sure we got the most out of the experience. Using the gringo positioning system, we found Mexican convenience stores outside the hotel down the street so check them out. There is a shopping mall fifteen minutes down the street by bus, and the bus stop is around the corner and down the street from the hotel. You will need $1 one way per person, and you can pay with bills. A Ferris wheel and an amusement park are further down. The local mall is where souvenirs should be purchased, not from the pathetic half-stepping locals wandering the beaches. Those are all, to the man, straight up drug dealing outlaws that run for the hotel sea walls to hide themselves behind when the Cancun Tourist Police ATVs drive by, making the beach area considerably less safe. There are ways to support the local economy but spending money on extremely low-quality Mexican drugs should be avoided. There are yet ways to make the most of this hotel, just don’t try reinventing the gringo wheel here. Make sure to explore the gym/spa, under one roof, and the St Trop restaurant on the beachfront were the best run facilities here and check out the VIP bar on the sixth floor of the Sandos. You will want to check out Bar One as well as catch live music at eight pm featuring local talent, with seating indoors with a scenic seated outdoor section. The best restaurant of the resort is the St. Trop, from which breakfast and lunch really do look like the view from the St. Tropez region’s restaurants on the coast of France. Rosalia and Rocio, our wait staff there, were very professional and the manager Kenya handled the daily operations very well. The food is entirely made to order there. The public buffet’s breakfast menu is also very strong, and the kitchen will try to accommodate requests for additions to your plate like beef or whatever cuts are available, whether it’s skirt steak or chicken, if it’s not available for everyone already. The hotel hosts barbeques outside the main pool at Bar Two are all made to order and the skirt steaks and fried fish and chips there are very decent fares. Instead, all the house restaurants that require reservations, I would definitely hit the steakhouse outside, Porfirio’s, every chance that I would have. Don’t get the tomahawk or expect the New York strip steak to be great, go to Porfirio’s because they do have great 17oz steak for $77 for life changing dinner daily if you wanted. The 2 house beers on tap at the hotel bar are Dos Equis lager and extra, with Tecate Light, Sol and Heineken available in cans. Always order beers with two limes (limas) then squeeze them, sink them to the bottom of the glass, and stir. Nobody will do it for you and otherwise it does not taste right. The well-kept beach area was perfect for swimming and running in the mornings before the sun makes itself felt and getting the famous Mexico vacation tan. Depending on your strategy to beat the sun at its own game, consider a long sleeve shirt and sunscreen for the nose specifically if you know you are too pale and are prone to burning. Make sure you don’t sunburn the first day leading to not being able to use the sauna, vapor bath or jet water tub. If you run into trouble in this regard, see the aforementioned convenience store on the street outside the hotel to source good aloe vera for slightly less than the hotel store. There is one local Mexican brand without forty toxic ingredients. Speaking of toxic, every room has Wi-Fi including multiple all-weather repeaters next to the pool, and there are three 5G millimeter wave death towers on the one adjacent hotel rooftop and almost ten in clusters of three occupy that of the Hard Rock Hotel next door. The ocean is excellent for swimming or just soaking in the sun along with the healing seawater that usually has seaweed floating around. The skin feels really good after swimming a few times a day, just practice reasonable sun safety. Check out Isla Majestica for snorkeling and other attractions like its beaches as this is the best quality destination for those categories for sure. Overall, a good stay and I would recommend this hotel to others who may be considering it. The other hotels seem rather empty compared to Sandos. Thanks for reading!

10/10 Experience, Would Go Again!
My husband and I recently stayed at the all-inclusive Sandos hotel in Cancun! We were here for a wedding and from the moment they picked us up to the airport to dropping us off at the airport, it was a 10/10 experience. We were actually arriving on separate days and Edgar was incredibly helpful with managing our reservations. In fact, there was a slight issue with the room (not even really an issue, but the reservation was made under 1 instead of two because of the different arrival days and the room I had had two beds instead of one king) and Edgar went above and beyond and helping with this. Not only did he give me two options from rooms to choose from, but he also helped manage the different arrival day and cost for my husband. Additionally, our flight was leaving later in the evening and he and Juan made it possible to have a late check as well. This hotel is fun, it’s a great location (15 min drive from the airport), and has a gorgeous beach. My favorite place we ate at was St. Trops! I believe there are a total of 5 restaurants, but 3 need reservations and I would highly recommend making reservations ahead of time. We only tried the buffet, St. Trops (which closes at 5 since it’s by the pool and beach), and room service (which was pretty fast and tasty!). We pretty consistently had Eddie as our towel helper and he was always so funny and so nice! The staff really do their absolute best to make sure everyone is always having the best time. And the wedding was so gorgeous! We got married a few years ago and you can tell when a wedding is running smoothly and when it’s not and at Sandos, they knew what they were doing! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Sando’s
Great service right away. Our check in time was supposed to be 3pm, we arrived very early in the morning and they were able to accommodate and get us checked in early. Very nice and welcoming staff! Shabelys helped us out at the front desk and got us all set up for the rest of our stay.
