    Excellent everything!

    I went here with my husband and 6 month old. The property is gorgeous and intimate. Small but amazing food, one of the best I've had in my several trips to Cancun, and the beach was a blast! I couldn't give enough shout outs to Mario. He was our waiter at the pool, learned our orders, and checked up on us so often. He truly made our vacation one of a kind.

    Our Visit to Sandos Cancun February 26- March 4

    I started this review upon my return to Cleveland but for whatever reason it didn't save. Here we go again! My husband and I have visited Cancun since 1996. After many experiences we have made Sandos our "2nd home" for many reasons. Relaxation, friendliness, room accommodations, food quality, fitness center, cleanliness and entertainment. From our first trip to our most recent we have never been disappointed. They go out of their way to ensure your vacation is perfect. I know you will find negative reviews. That is with everything. I was nervous booking my initial visit a few years ago because of that. However I quickly learned that like much in life you will have those that will find problems with the most perfect things. Upon arrival Eric (Bellman) greeted us and took very good care of our luggage and looked after us throughout our trip. Yelena (front desk) greeted us with a bright smile and assured our visit would be wonderful. She was right! Our waiter the first night and many nights after was Daniel who was more attentive than many 5* restautants we go to locally. Our lunches were primarily serviced by Kikke who also was overly attentive. All meals were top notch and creative which Fabricio should be very pround of. Many options for every pallet. Let's be honest, when on vacation you need a good barteneder that can make really good drinks. Sergio never let us down! If you are looking for a fabulous spa experience this is the place to be. Unbelievable hydro experience and messages! Thank you Martina for your wonderful staff and spa experience. The GM, David should be very proud of the staff and enviroment he has created. They all make you feel at home. This is not a party resort. And it shouldn't be. It is a boutique elegant resort. Yes you have fun, entertainment and memories but not a wild party which we really appreciate. Looking forward to our next vacation!

    DO NOT BOOK - TERRIBLE FOOD & DRINKS

    I visited Sandos in early 2020 and have no idea where these positive reviews came from. I don't know if management or ownership changed, but the only positive or even consistent aspect of my stay were Bernie and the Japanese restaurant. Pros: - Bernie & Josue - Japanese dinner restaurant, which was delicious - Food at the lunch place by the pool Cons: - All other dinner restaurants were inedible. I've never sent food back in my life until visiting this 'resort'. Steak and Italian restaurants were horrible and often had food mislabeled. For example, the same mediocre cream puffs offered in a buffet were on the menu at the Italian restaurant as 'beignets.' - Drinks were terrible. They use very low quality alcohol that you can still taste despite them serving weak drinks. They also cannot make decent margaritas - the one base requirement for a hotel in Mexico. Had to switch to wine and beer because the quality- of the mixed drinks was almost offensive. - Hotel seemed to be falling apart (numerous areas where there were water stains on the ceiling) - If you receive a room on a lower floor, you can hear the very loud generator from the hotel next door at all hours of the night. (Not the hotel's fault, but request a room on a high floor.) - A member of the staff told me she was sick, continued to cough while standing close to guests, then went on to do a food demonstration. I would normally not leave a negative review, but there were too many negative aspects of my trip to ignore.

    Great time! Entertainment team really made it worth it

    Went to the resort for a solo trip to get enjoy some good weather after a rainy time at home. Enjoyed the events and entertainment that the Sandos had to offer, but most of all i valued the effort, time and results that Ana, Rodrivo, Ivan and Richy put in to organize 3 nightly trips to downtown Cancun for those of us who wanted to make a night of it! Thanks for everything, i'll be back when everything settles down!

    Great getaway for couples

    Although I’ve been to Mexico many times, this is the first time I’m writing a review. This hotel is great getaway for a couple. This hotel is located in the middle of the hotel zone and I chose this hotel because it was rated as a 5 star hotel and it didn’t break the bank. This is exactly what the resort is (best bang for your buck). Our stay was for the 2nd week of March. Please keep in mind that our stay was during the COVID-19 announcements (to return home) for the US and Canada. It did put a bit of a “wrench” in some of our extra curricular activities (Xel-Ha, Xcaret) but overall it was a great stay. Here are a few things which we loved about the hotel and why we would come back again: 1. The service! The staff were all genuinely friendly and since the hotel is a bit smaller, you really get to know the staff throughout the time that you are there. I would like to take this time to thank a few of the staff that made our stay memorable: A. Mario, Christian, Raul for constantly bringing us drinks and food by the pool or beach. B. Huge thank you to Gaby and Luis from the entertainment/activity team. We did not miss a single spin class while we were there and the activities were all fun. They made everybody feel welcome by encouraging participation. C. Alejandro and his partner (sorry I forgot your name!) at the front desk. 2. Time Share Presentation: Don’t get me wrong. Like every resort, they try to get you to buy in but unlike many presentations (esp. in Vegas) they weren’t very pushy and the presentation did really only take 90 minutes. We had Alex (shorter gentleman but such a pleasant individual) which gave us our presentation. There are a few things that prevent me from giving this hotel a 5 star stay. 1. Food selection: The food selection was quite small from previous resorts that I have been to. There is only 1 main buffet and 4-5 restaurants (only 2 of which are open on any given day). Although the food that was available was fairly delicious. 2. Hotel Age: The hotel itself is a bit dated, the hotel rooms are a bit dark/dim and the bed (at least the one that we had) was “slanted” or “grooved”. Probably needed to be changed. 3. Pool and beach location: While the pool and beach cabana’s were great, the resort next to Sandos (Secrets Vine) unfortunately towered over the pool and casted a shadow/shade around 2:30pm. People would migrate and the pools would be fairly empty- especially the top pool (could be a great thing for families?). Secondly, there were not that many beach chairs and cabana’s. Not sure if maybe they have more but it wasn’t much of a problem for us as we wanted to be on the beach a bit more anyways. All in all, I would consider staying at the Sandos Cancun but only at the right price. I feel like there were just many small things that added up which might sway me into staying at a newer/bigger hotel with a swim up bar and newer rooms.
