Aug 20, 2025Nice hotel for vacation
We spent the last two nights in San Juan in this hotel and it didn't let us down. The location is excellent and it is easy to access all you need for vacation. The only thing to improve is that there is no wine glasses and opener in my room but once you asked they were sent to the room. The wine opener is a brand new one with a cover on it and I guess they just bought from a convenient store nearby.

Very nice hotel. Meals are too expensive, and there should be more entertainment at night for families. Nothing to do but go to the Casino where children are not allowed. Beautiful resort but for a grand hotel it lacks in entertainment. Should they have more entertainment, it would be perfect!

Great / easy quick getaway
My friend and I had a nice long weekend here. It’s busy but well kept. Pros are that it’s close to the airport and has a good pool/beach area. Note, it’s not a beach you really swim in - the sea was rough. But it is lovely to relax in the sand under an umbrella. Plenty of food and drink options outside the hotel. The breakfast was buffet/omelette station and pretty good. Really no complaints. It’s a good base to explore San Juan. Staff was helpful.

San Juan refuge
Excellent hotel. Beautifully furnished rooms. Lovely pools. Fantastic staff eager to please. Appreciated Nestor Sr at the beach who set us up with beach chairs and umbrella. Compared to the Hilton Diplomat in Hollywood FL, the beach is much quieter in terms of guest noise. We love to listen to the sound of the waves crashing, not somebody's favorite radio station or i-Tunes playlist. Wish all hotels would BAN THESE from their beaches - people who blast their own music are incredibly rude. (Yes, I realize some beaches are public, and they can't enforce restrictions such as these.). Luckily, there were few of these thoughtless guests at the Marriott. KEY TIP: Marriott has a rate guarantee - get prices from travel sites, book the lowest price, then compare to Marriott website. If your price is lower, they'll beat it by 25%. Don't expect anything other than EXACTLY what you booked in terms of room features, included breakfast, etc.

Classic Marriott flair and polish
First, I must preface this review by saying that I booked my room at this hotel using the Marriott discount afforded to me by being an employee of a Marriott-brand hotel. However, the thoughts and opinions within this review are solely my own, and should not reflect on my employing hotel, management company, or Marriott International. My boyfriend and I recently visited Puerto Rico for five nights to celebrate his birthday. We spent three nights in Caguas with family and then spent the last two nights at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. Upon entering the lobby, guests are immediately presented with a polished, stylish hotel, with the pool and beach just out the back windows, and several food and beverage outlets within eyesight. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by an excellent Elizabeth Linares, who checked us in while making us feel welcome and gave us all the relevant information about the property. One thing I do not like about using my discount is that, while I work hard for it, other hotels can act aggravated that I (or anyone else) am using it, since we are not paying full rate. However, Ms. Linares really could not have been more welcoming and pleasant no matter the demographics. For the room, I had used two of my Nightly Upgrade Awards (NUA) to guarantee an upgrade to a corner studio suite room. This room was excellent and a good use of the NUAs, with wide views of the pool and beach (nearly the same ones from the lobby), and the staff of the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino really went above and beyond by welcoming us with a tasteful amenity of a half bottle of chardonnay, two nips of Puerto Rican moonshine, four macarons, cards, and an assortment of towels animals. I had requested the hotel provide a welcome amenity to help welcome us, since as a member of the executive office of my hotel, I am clear on what we can provide in order to wow the guest upon their arrival, and the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino did just that - wow us. I was so grateful for being able to show my partner exactly what above-and-beyond magic hotels can provide. This is my industry, so it touches me harder than most. The pool and the beach are lovely and scenic, although a bit crowded. The beach had the red flag flying each day (dangerous currents - no swimming), but it didn't matter, as we could wade up into our ankles. We also took advantage of the pool, which was a little cooler than the ocean, but not bad. We did find the price of drinks to be high, although not outrageous considering the market, and opted to drink from a bar we supplied in our room than buy drinks over and over again at the pool bar. This worked out well. Overall, I am very pleased with my stay at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. Although we didn't get to enjoy the casino, it was certainly there and present, and had we been bigger casino people to begin with, we would have probably headed in. Otherwise, we were impressed with the level of service and hope to be back.
