  Missing TLC in the care of this resort

  I give a 3 mainly for the hospitality shown by the staff in the cafeteria and the cleaning crew and the animators. They were very welcoming and always helpful with a smile. The food was cheap .. smokers around the pool area was annoying even though it states no smoking. And plus this is a family resort. The resort itself I had broken light switches in my room . Leaking shower. Maybe one day it was in better shape. I won’t return!

  Not the same as it once was

  This was our fifth stay at Royalton Splash, and until now we have always loved this resort. Unfortunately, this visit was a complete disappointment. We chose Diamond Club specifically for the added perks and service, and we received none of them. Our butler, Reinaldo, was virtually nonexistent. We had to call him several times after discovering a cockroach in our room. He finally met with us midday on our second day and told us he would move us to a different room. That never happened. When we received no follow-up, we went to the Diamond Club Lounge to complain, only to be met with complete indifference. We were later told the room would be fumigated. On day five, Reinaldo called and claimed the room had been fumigated while we were out. I am confident this did not occur. Over the course of our stay, we found: 3 cockroaches in our room 2 beetles 3 spiders 1 cockroach in the buffet For reference, we have never experienced bugs at this resort during any of our previous visits. We only saw our butler one time, and that was when we essentially had to chase him down to request a room change. Not only was the request ignored, but he never followed up again. I messaged him asking about the Diamond Club amenities we were entitled to: fruit tray bottle of wine beach bag We stayed 7 nights. On night 6, a plate with one whole apple and two whole oranges was left in our room. They looked awful, and I returned the plate to the desk. On night 7, we finally received a bottle of wine, which we left behind. We never received the beach bag. On every previous visit, the fruit platter included at least five different cut fruits, along with timely wine service. This experience was nothing like what Diamond Club promises. This trip was a waste of money, especially paying extra for Diamond Club without receiving the benefits. Sadly, my family will not be returning to any Royalton property.

  Made worth it thanks to Ernesto

  Not one to normally do one of these, but based on how amazing Ernesto was during my stay I must. While I was a bit underwhelmed with the food at the restaurants and majority of the service which would have made this rating lower, I was thankful that I upgraded to the Diamond Club and ultimately had Ernesto (butler service with Diamond Club) assigned to look after me. Ernesto had an amazing attention to detail, follow up and execution of requests. (Unfortunately, he is at the mercy of his colleagues which didn’t always follow through, but Ernesto would.) When you upgrade to Diamond Club there’s no standing around waiting for reservations at the restaurants, you send a text with the place, time, and number of guests while poolside and it gets done. I thoroughly enjoyed that perk. Request Ernesto as your butler if you upgrade to Diamond Club!

  Sélection buffet: the food is fresh, healthy and accommodate everyone in the family. We love it here. Friendly staff and great taste. Cristian is the best waiter.

  I’ve traveled to the Dominican Republic six years in a row and stayed at multiple resorts without issue, but my experience at Royalton Splash Punta Cana was by far the worst. From the very beginning, the experience was frustrating. I was unable to get any restaurant reservations. I was told to use an app that simply did not work, and when I asked staff for assistance, they shrugged their shoulders and said there was nothing they could do. There was no effort to help or resolve the issue. The room conditions were unacceptable. The room was damp, smelled strongly of mold and mildew, and had bugs. It was clearly unclean and uncomfortable, which is completely unacceptable for a resort at this price point. Because reservations were impossible, I was forced to eat at the buffet every night, which resulted in the worst food poisoning I’ve ever experienced. I’ve traveled to many countries and have never gotten sick like this before. This alone ruined a significant portion of the trip. Many of the amenities that were advertised as included were not actually included, which felt misleading and dishonest. Additionally, there was very little to do for adults in the 25–30 age range, making the resort feel boring and poorly planned. Despite being heavily advertised as kid-friendly, the resort fell short. Activities were limited, food options were poor, and worst of all, the tile around the pool and water park was extremely slippery. I personally watched multiple children fall and get hurt every single day, which is a serious safety concern. To make matters worse, staff repeatedly said they could not accommodate large groups, yet I clearly saw other large groups receiving special treatment. When I asked how they managed it, I was essentially told you have to pay extra to get basic accommodations—as if the significant amount of money already spent to be there wasn’t enough. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience. Between the poor service, unsafe conditions, food poisoning, and misleading advertising, I will not be returning and would not recommend this resort to anyone
