  Save your time and money

  Please save your money and pick somewhere else. We just returned and I was very disappointed with our trip. This was our third trip to Punta Cana and should have returned to Melia instead of trying somewhere new. Out of 6 people, 5 of us got sick not what you want while on vacation. It wasn't just us as we talked to others who were also sick. Paid for the diamond club and didn't receive everything it states on the website. Our concierge would get hold of us in the morning but that was about it. He didn't even show up when we left as we watched others do with other guests. The rooms were old and smelled. There was a edge coming from the bathroom which my husband cut his toe badly on. The food was not good, we went to the other resort more often. They would run out of cups which meant no coffee or tea :( thank God we brought snacks for the kids. This resort is not on the beach., you need to go to the other resort to use the beach. The splash park was half decent, the kids seem to enjoy themselves. If you go to a pool be prepared to not find a lounge chair. They really need to supply more. Also the pool water was freezing! I was surprised to see a lot of tiles missing from the pool. I really could list more but you can get an idea from this and other reviews. I guess we have been spoiled at other resorts. I am sure I will get the standard response from management but nothing will change.

  Our winter trip to Royalton splash Punta Cana

  We chose the Royalton splash Punta Cana for our family trip this winter. Beautiful resort with lots of amenities. Excellent daily and nightly entertainment. We chose the diamond club, which meant we got to experience an amazing Buttler named Santiago. He insured everything was perfect every day and assisted with anything including à la cart dining and bringing ice to our room every day at 4 o’clock. We had a presidential Jacuzzi suite overlooking the main pool on the splash side so we could hear and see the entertain if we wanted. We loved the à la carte dining but our experience with the buffet was not as good - since four of our party of nine got Montezuma‘s revenge and that put a damper on things for a day or two. The beach experience was wonderful and the trams come to cater to your transportation very frequently. We would give this resort an overall 7.5 out of 10.

  Not safe - hospitalized due to poor food handling

  Don’t go, it’s actually very unsafe. Every group there I spoke to had a least 30% of their group fall ill with food poisoning. My young son was sick and my mother ended up rushed by ambulance to the hospital. When my son was sick I went to the front asking where I can buy anti nausea meds, they advised nothing at the resort but could have pharmacy deliver, 47 US dollars later I had a baby bottle of pepto. 2 days later found the store on the resort did in fact sell a bottle twice the size for half the price, nice they not only don’t care everyone is sick, they do everything they can to take advantage of the situation. I’ve been to the DR 10 times and this was by far the worst experience, service and unsafe place I have ever been to. Save your money and your health.

  Good vacation clouded with illness

  This was our first all inclusive experience for our family. The Initial check in process at the diamond club lobby was stressful and disorganized, which was surprisingly different than the experience of my mother in law who my wife checked in very efficiently at the non DC main lobby. We waited a few hours to be checked in and a few more to be asigned a room, which was fine as we got in around noon. We were able to track down our luggage out front and change, but didn't receive a bracelet or meet our butler for a few hours so weren't able to do much. Our butler Ernesto was extremely helpful to get us and our luggage to our room and settled. He gave us the lay of the Land, explained all of the processes and made sure we had everything we needed. First thing we noticed in our room was a musty smell, I assumed perhaps it was wet towels maybe left out by pervious guests so didn't worry too much about it. Unfortunately when we took our first shower, we learned that the shower pours a river of water accross the bathroom floor. The shower glass has no door seals,in turn flooding the bathroom and swelling the door jamb in the bathroom. We advised Ernesto, and he did his best with having maintenence come over to take a look at that, and adjust a loose toilet seat, but aside from ordering the correct seals (which apparently none of the rooms had for our various group members), there wasn't much that could be done at that time. Also, our family suite had a door on the water closet, but not on the whole bathroom area. Which made showering with our teens in the room a challenge. Very strange design choice... The grounds were very well kept, pools were nice, although cool and could use a bit of maintenence in the way of missing/chipped tiles. The Royalton side was in better condition, but I understand its been more recently renovated. We saw many reviews talk about sickness before arrival. We took it with a grain of salt and figured it was a small vocal minority. Unfortunately this was not the case. Our group of 5 was mostly fine, my son threw up once but it passed quickly, but of our large group of 19, 15 ended up with a bad gastro bug, vomit, diarrhea, fever and chills. This was echoed throughout the resort with almost everyone we spoke to stating similar experiences. We did notice towards the end of our stay that there was an effort to step up cleaning/hygiene practices, but im unsure why this would be new for such a large/established chain. Even without most of my room/family getting sick, it always felt like we were playing Russian roulette with every meal, wondering when it may be our turn. The splash park was fun for the teens, the resort in general felt safe, and the staff (especially our Butler Ernesto) were all friendly kind and helpful. Ernesto was very helpful with any request, making sure we got any reservation we needed, including multiple changes/adjustments after the fact. The diamond club buffet seems to have better and more fresh options than the non diamond club side. The steakhouse and tapenyaki grill were big hits with our gang. Aside from the easily fixable issues with the room, and the abundent sickness, we still had an enjoyable vacation. We would consider booking again, but would be checking recent reviews before doing so, in hopes that those deficiencies are rectified
