  Royalton Splash- Punta Cana Entertainment Team. -Five star!

  Just returned from an amazing stay at the Royalton Splash Punta Cana, and while the food was mediocre at best, the entertainment team truly made this vacation unforgettable. Simon, the entertainment supervisor, checked in with us daily to make sure everyone was having a blast. Miguel and Mr. Chocolat kept the energy high at the pool, making sure kids and families were always having fun. And Micaela and Maria? They danced their souls away and somehow got the entire crowd up and moving with them. The staff responsible for entertainment are the heart of this resort—friendly, energetic, and committed to making every guest’s experience memorable. They turned a good trip into a great one. Highly commend them!

  5 star staff 3 star stay

  I’m writing from the pool side of the water park. It’s our last day today. We came to DR for our best friends wedding and chose SPLASH for its family friendliness and proximity to the wedding venue. I’ll start with the positives - the staff! Our butler Elvin was fantastic!! He took care of everything we needed including travel too and from the wedding venue ( which would have been tricky to organise- we’re a family of 4 including a baby and needed 3 trips!) The hotel staff were all super friendly and pleasant to our kids, in the restaurants, buffets (especially Janet & Margarita!), pool side etc. all such lovely people! UPGRADING TO DIAMOND CLUB IS A MUST - if not you don’t get access to the Punta Cana hotel where there are more shops: places to eat and the beach. It’s just a short walk away and there are free shuttle buses too ( which my 6yr old loved!) The aesthetic of the hotel is lovely. Walking around there’s wildlife, palm trees and lovely pools -everything you’d expect from 5star in DR Unfortunately that’s where the positives end… The food i’d say is 3 star - if you’re diamond club you get priority access to the restaurants and can book each night. The Italian (Bella Cuccino) was awful - we waited 50mins to be served and the food was mid at best. The ‘extra special’ beach BBQ was a buffet on Cabaret style tables - there’s nothing like traipsing through sand, in the dark, with your food to sit at a table with total strangers - not quite what we’d expected- also the portion sizes were so small - yet there was lots of food left over - weird! Teppanyki was nice, the staff were great and portion sizes were good / but all the shouting and banging was too much - if you like that kind of thing it’s great; but with small children it was overwhelming. Now to the rooms ….. we upgraded to a deluxe family suite … let me tell you. There was nothing ‘luxe’ about this room. If we hadn’t travelled 10+ hours with a 6 month old I would have left ASAP. The sheets are stained. The bunk bed is falling apart. The room looks like it hasn’t been maintained in 20+ years. The remote control for the TV is broken; the fridge leaks; the cupboard the fridge is in comes off its hinges. I could go on and on and on! THERE ARE NO ACCESSIBLE PLUG SOCKETS!!! we were literally moving furniture to plug things in! The sockets spark when you use them! There’s a coffee machine - but it’s not plugged in. Half the light switches don’t work. Honestly I’ve experienced better rooms in 3 star travel lodges in the UK. It’s such a shame because the exterior and staff are amazing. But I would not come back here unless the rooms were completely redone. The door handle broke off our room in front of a staff member who watched me struggle to put it on and just laughed! You can tell in the past the resort was 5star but unfortunately this has not been maintained & Royalton don’t seem to care. Like i said - if you’re expecting luxury look elsewhere, however if you’re happy to overlook dated and run down rooms for good vibes from staff and good facilities. This place isn’t too bad. I don’t think we’ll be returning. But for the staff it would have been a different story. Ps. Tips in US dolllars go a long way. Always good to show your appreciation!

  Nice family resort. Nephew picked for his wedding. Location was good for canada and peru travel

  The good. Our butler was Amarlys Mercedes. She was in control of our vacation from the moment we registered. She helped with setting up our WhatsApp. Getting our luggage to our room. Restaurant reservations for us and my family. She checked in everyday to make sure we were enjoying our time. She is a keeper. The Restaurants we hit or miss. Under the sea was disappointing both with food and service. The Mexican restaurant food was ok except for the steak. The waiter was overwhelmed with too many people in his area. No management on hand to assist. The Italian restaurant was terrific. We had 30 people in our group. The staff were attentive the food was tasty and the portions were perfect. Housekeeping only came twice in 7 nights. Once at 430 when we were getting ready to go to a family function. The rooms require more lighting. Table area was very dark. No lights in the area near the mirror. The room was grwat in size. Closet space was good. The pool and beach areas where clean and well staffed.

  Absolutely perfect

  Had a perfect vacation! Staff, food and facilities were great! So many options, there was always a quiet place to relax, or a party spot to hang out and listen to music! Lines were basically non existent in the water park. And there was always a place to sit in the shade

  Not as expected.

  Check-in took over an hour, and the room was not what we expected. For $6,000 for the week — especially with butler service — we anticipated a much higher standard. The buffet wasn’t good, and the options were very limited, especially for kids. It was difficult to get snacks for the room, and room service was awful. We didn’t have hot water on the first day, and the dirt that came out of the jacuzzi tub was honestly disgusting. By day 5, I came down with a stomach bug, along with a few others in our group. The pool was even shut down at one point because someone had vomited in it. Overall, the experience fell far below what we expected.
