  Great experience - not perfect but still great

  Honest review – Royalton Splash Punta Cana (Non-Diamond Club) We stayed at Royalton Splash for two weeks in December with our 3 year old old daughter and had the best time. It’s definitely not perfect, but if you go in with a positive mindset, it’s a really enjoyable family holiday. This Facebook group honestly made me panic beforehand, and in hindsight, I couldn’t have been happier with our experience. We were really glad we didn’t book Diamond Club. To be honest, it felt like a waste of money. Several families we met who had Diamond Club said they wished they hadn’t bothered. The main benefits are access to the Royalton Punta Cana buffet (which is much better) and free access to the steakhouse and teppanyaki. We simply paid $49pp for teppanyaki instead. when you compare that to the Diamond Club upgrade cost, you save hundreds. I’d seen reviews saying non-Diamond Club guests are treated like second class citizens, and that couldn’t be further from the truth. The only real perks Diamond Club guests get are their own bar, a beach area, and a very small pool on the Splash side, which honestly looked a bit dull. The walk to the Punta Cana side is about 5 minutes (10 at most), or a 2-minute buggy ride that runs very frequently. We actually loved the walk, you see turtles, huge lizards, and lots of birds and ducks along the way. À la carte restaurants can be booked in the app at exactly 5pm for the following day. Often only later slots were available, but guest services were helpful when we asked to move times earlier. Food-wise, we didn’t enjoy the Italian on the Splash side, but absolutely loved Jade (Asian) and the Mexican. Teppanyaki was great fun and definitely worth doing. The steakhouse was a little disappointing. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to try the Italian on the Punta Cana side. The buffet was good overall, we always found something to eat. The entertainment team were fantastic and made a real effort, especially with our daughter. She loved the evening entertainment. Restaurant and bar staff were a bit hit and miss, but that didn’t really bother us. The hotel rooms are fine. They could do with a little updating, but nothing worth complaining about. For the last five days, we upgraded our wristbands to access the Punta Cana buffet, and it really was much better, lobster, huge prawns, and steak almost every day. Overall, we had an amazing holiday because we made the most of it and didn’t sweat the small stuff. In hindsight, I might look at booking the Punta Cana side next time as it’s a bit nicer, with a better beach and buffet (depending on the price difference). That said, the Splash side is still great, and the splash park is brilliant fun for all ages. Would happily return.

  Mixed experience. Butler was 100% worth it

  This is a worn hotel with rooms and facilities in serious need of updating and processes and service that feel opaque and unnecessarily hard to navigate. Our family of five traveled with friends after Christmas. Our first room was entirely unacceptable - moldy, broken furniture, and looked at an unkempt lawn on the backside of the property. The saving grace was our butler, Edwin, who was extremely responsive to our concerns and had us moved to a larger, updated room the next day. Dinners were seemingly impossible to book and there was no rhyme or reason to the process. Edwin helped us through every step of our stay - managing dinner reservations, and helping book activities. He managed to get us into every restaurant we wanted to try. He was thoughtful and available all day, every day throughout our visit and made the trip - connecting us with everything we needed. Outside of Edwin, we found many of the staff to be disinterested in the guests, particularly during meals. I’m not sure if this was because of the lack of incentive for service at an all inclusive (it was our first time at one). I would have come more prepared to tip throughout the visit to improve the service. The food was awful - exceptions being the Zen restaurant and buffet at the Royalton Punta Cana (Royalton Splash buffet was terrible). Diamond Club access was worth it to get access to both the Royalton and Royalton Splash and we moved back and forth across the facilities throughout our stay. The waterpark was just the right size for our 10 and 11 year olds who could use it for an hour or so everyday and then move on to the pool or beach. Ultimately - we had a wonderful time but I would not stay here again unless the rooms are renovated.

  Great family vacation with exceptional butler service

  Santos was our butler during our seven‑day family vacation at the Royalton Splash Punta Cana, and he genuinely made our trip unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, he greeted us with such warmth that we instantly felt at home. Throughout the entire week, he handled every request—big or small—quickly and without hesitation. After we upgraded to Diamond Club, Santos immediately stepped in and moved us from our original room to a much better location, putting us close to the pools, restaurants, water park, and even the neighboring Royalton property. He took care of all our restaurant reservations, adjusting things day by day so our family could enjoy every spot we had our eye on. He also made sure we received every Diamond Club perk without us ever having to ask. What really stood out, though, were the personal touches. He arranged a beautiful birthday surprise for my daughter—decorations, a cake, and even a special song at dinner. When a few family members weren’t feeling well, he had soup delivered to the room and checked in over the next couple of days to make sure they were improving. He even took care of little request outside of working hours just to make sure he was always available. Even at checkout, when other staff were running behind, he took it upon himself to secure a shuttle for our luggage and later messaged us to apologize for not being able to say goodbye in person. Santos was exceptional from start to finish, and I’d recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone visiting the resort.

  Awful service, awful food, just awful

  Agree with all the bad reviews. Diamond club is probably better service but if you don’t have it, it’s the worst all inclusive on the planet (or at least worst out of the 20 or so I’ve visited, especially considering the price). Marriott should be ashamed of itself for suggesting this is an autograph collection hotel. Room is ok but bathroom is tiny and outdated, our shower broke on day two, toilet doesn’t flush and towels are super old and gross. Evening entertainment is great but you’re sitting on the ground…there’s like 100 seats for 1000 people. Good luck getting a lounger by pool or beach. Beach is not good. Without diamond club you have no decent food options, I mean NONE!! The buffet is your only choice for breakfast and lunch and it’s the same old thing every day, no napkins, no bowls, no spoons, no service. Food is mediocre at best, again, considering the price we paid to stay here, it’s garbage! Dinner is a fun game of playing your odds on the hotel app the night before. You are told you can make reservations between 5 and 7pm the night before for any of the 5 restaurants but when the time comes, most show no availability or a 9pm option which is ridiculous so back to the awful buffet with awful service. Staff is so so, some are very nice but not able to fix any issues, others just couldn’t care less about providing service. There’s more but I hope you get the idea…book ANY OTHER HOTEL in Punta Cana or pay a ridiculous amount for diamond club and take your chances.

  Great experience at the Diamond Club for a wedding and extended family vacation

  We had a great experience ! We were there with my family and my brother's family-in-law for my brother's wedding and had a great time. The room and facilities were clean and in good shape. The combination of having access to the Splash area for the kids ( 5yo to 55yo ;) ) but also the nice beach with reserved seats and tents and bar right by the beach really was perfect for everyone's needs and desires. The buffet was good and had a great variety of food (including vegan options, and could even accomodate my gluten intolerance! --> sometimes required a heads up for selected "behind the counter" gluten-free products, but otherwise the staff always made sure to check and guide me through the buffet and/or get me something). The à-la-carte restaurants were good too! Our Diamond Club butler Edwin B was really sharp. Clear indications and instructions, quick to answer, truly nice, caring and really accommodating, always coming up with solutions when needed. Friendly and professional.
