  Disappointing Stay at Royalton Splash Punta Cana – Not Marriott Standards

  We are long-time Marriott Bonvoy members and have always chosen Marriott properties for their consistent quality and service. Unfortunately, our recent stay at Royalton Splash Punta Cana – Autograph Collection (June 6–11, 2025) was deeply disappointing and far below the standard we’ve come to expect—especially from an Autograph Collection hotel. We booked this trip to celebrate our son’s 10th birthday and to create lasting memories before I begin the next stage of treatment for a rare lung condition. We were hopeful, even after reading several concerning reviews online. Sadly, the experience added stress rather than providing the reprieve we so needed. Major issues we encountered: Room Service & Dining: Orders were frequently canceled with no notice. The app and in-room TV ordering system often didn’t work. When it rained, room service shut down entirely. Restaurant Reservations: Nearly impossible to book. The app always showed zero availability. We only managed to dine at restaurants by walking in and hoping for a spot. Housekeeping: Towels were removed and not replenished properly. For a family of four, we were left with just one towel initially, and eventually only received three. Staff Interactions: Several staff members were inattentive or unprofessional. Most upsetting was when our 9-year-old politely asked for a water cup at Selections and was scolded by a manager in front of us. Room Key Failure: On the fifth night, our keypad failed. Our concierge refused to help, claiming we weren’t “on her list.” We eventually found another staff member who resolved it, but it took far too much effort to access our own room. Facility Condition: The resort is noticeably run-down. Theater seats were broken, no poolside food or drink service, and an overall lack of hospitality made it feel more like a 2-star experience than a 5-star. The positives: The waterpark, inflatable obstacle course, and entertainment team were bright spots. Our kids loved the magician and the Michael Jackson show. We appreciated these moments, but they weren’t enough to outweigh the disappointments. Final thoughts: We redeemed a significant number of Bonvoy points for this trip. Given the poor service, condition of the resort, and multiple issues, we do not believe we received the value expected from a Marriott Autograph Collection property. We’re sharing this in hopes of sparing others the same disappointment—and to urge Marriott to reevaluate the standards at this location. A partial point return or goodwill compensation would be appreciated, but more importantly, we hope this feedback drives necessary improvements.

  Unforgettable experience

  The entire hotel was impeccably clean and well maintained, also our room, restaurants pools and common areas. Housekeeping g did a fantastic job. Our Butler Edwin. Thumbs up! Went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. From the front desk to the restaurant servers and cleaning crew. Outstanding!. Food was incredible, tasty and good variety.

  Nice moderate resort with a few issues

  This was our second time at Royalton Splash. It is an affordable family all-inclusive that worked for us-we did upgrade to diamond club (which in my opinion makes all of the difference) But I will share the pros and cons: Pros: -The butler service was wonderful. We had Elvin working with us and he was friendly, efficient, and so helpful. If we had an issue it was takent care of immediately. We aren’t “butler” people, but the resort is set up that you aren’t getting reservations for dinner without a butler or expensive add ons (a con) so having that friendly face made a huge difference -Diamond club pools and beach access-the Diamond club pool was quieter, cleaner and had wonderful poolside service. Jose remembered our drinks and was fun and efficient. The Diamond club side of the beach was less busy, and much cleaner. -Water park, clean and fun small water park. We only spent one afternoon there but it was enjoyable -punta Cana side buffet-great food, friendly efficient service, clean and comfortable -mini bar in the room is nice and well stocked (Pepsi zero, coke, milk, oj, chocolate milk, a coors lite and a Heineken. We didn’t use the alcohol but the side and juices were refilled. Neutral- -rooms are clean and beds are fine. The ac works well and also keeps the humidity down. Showers have good pressure and toilets flush well. Note there is no hair dryer, but I was able to request one. -splash side buffet-just okay. Nothing outstanding but nothing bad. Service was polite in the diamond club area. Almost always had to ask for part of the flatware (fork, napkin, etc) -most sit down restaurants are fine. Again nothing great, but nothing inedible. The Gracie Italian restaurant was so hot, it was miserable to eat there -shows were nice-nothing outstanding but well done and centrally located. I liked having the option of shows at punta Cana or at splash Cons -the steakhouse was really the worst restaurant on the resort. I’m sure if you paid for the upgraded steaks, it would be better, but the beef on the buffet was infinitely better than anything at the steakhouse -beach-not really the fault of the resort, but full of the sargassum seaweed. The smell was little overwhelming at times at the beach. -the walk between the resorts really wasn’t terrible, so we walked mostly, but the shuttle had too long of a wait. Mostly 20-25 min if you just missed it.

  Great FUN!

  My time at Royalton Splash with my family was GREAT and the resort was beautiful! Shout out to Shadai Peguero! He was the best butler we could’ve asked for. He was attentive to our needs, answered all our questions/concerns, helped us book dinners swiftly, and always stopped by the pool to chat and ask about our day. If you’re looking for a fun family environment filled with entertainment and great service, I recommend Royalton Splash. I’ll definitely be going back in the future!

  Relaxing Vacation

  We wanted a relaxing vacation and got it here. Diamond club is worth it. Our butler was Elvin and he was great all week. You can walk or take the shuttle to the Punta Cana resort to go to the beach or eat. Diamond club allows you to use the buffet over there, which is a little better.
