Overall, our experience was wonderful. We booked a butler service room for the first time. Our butlers, Victor, Jocelyn, and Gina were fabulous! Aways greeted us with a smile and were very eager to help with any need or request. They all helped us with reservations for dinner and had great suggestions for things for us to do. Everyday they communicated with us via WhatsApp and in person. They reminded us of our reservations for the day and sent us the daily resort schedule. Our room was beautiful and bigger than expected. It had a small but very nice view of the ocean which was a nice touch. The minibar was restocked daily (or by request) and we always had more than enough drinks in our fridge. The swim up room was a fun splurge and it was nice to have lounge chairs right outside our patio door. However, the patio was almost always in the shade so getting sun from our room was not really possible. Food was very good. We really enjoyed the Zen teppanyaki experience and the food at Dorado and Agave were our favorite. The buffet was also very enjoyable and had a good variety of food. Scoops ice cream and coffee shop was fantastic as well. The gelato was delicious and never disappointed us. Hunters Steakhouse was the only disappointment. The menu listed having a NY Strip steak but the waiter told us “oh that is an old menu.” Also, for a steakhouse the steak options were extremely limited. They had a flank steak and a small ribeye, that was the extent of the steak options. If you do eat at Hunter’s, get the crab cakes, they are very good. We booked a spa treatment at the Royal Spa and loved it! We got the Time to Connect for Couples treatment. It included a 1 hour hydrotherapy session which was a first for us. It was a unique and satisfying experience, very relaxing. The spa treatment was incredible and perhaps one of the best we have ever received. A great way to relax. The staff at the spa were amazing and very attentive, from the locker room attendant, to the hydrotherapy guide, and the masseuse. Some of the best three hours of our trip. We used the Nexus Tours onsite to book an excursion to Isla Mujeres instead of booking through the Nexus App. I highly recommend using the onsite folks as they have up to date info for exactly what trips are available. Thank you to Azael for his advice and service. The two biggest issues that downgraded our review from a 5 to a 4 were the check-in and the smell of the decaying seaweed. The check-in process was very easy and straightforward. The issue was, our luggage was swept away from us when we got to the front door at 11:30 and we did not get it back till we got to our room at 2:00pm. We were not prepared for this and were “stuck” in our travel clothes. Had we know this was the process we could have packed differently and had swimwear ready to change into in our shoulder bags. The second issue was the smell of the decaying seaweed. We noticed it most when we immediately left our room. This could have been due to our location being close to the beach/ocean. We did not use the beach at all because of this. We were able to find areas around the pools that were somewhat protected from the smell. Again, overall we had a wonderful time and it was so very relaxing. I would not tell anyone not to go to this resort. It’s very pretty and we thoroughly enjoyed our getaway.

Taj Restaurant
Gorgeous food and great atmosphere. The chef, Filbert, is brilliant and our waiters Luis and Ermel were fantastic and provided brilliant service! Best restaurant in the hotel.
