  Second time here!!!

  This is our second time at this resort. It is a very beautiful resort, very close to the airport.Since our first visit here what has changed drastically here are the staff, extremely pleasant, helpful, genuine, whether waiters, housekeeping, general workers , they all greet you. On the other hand, we feel that the food quality isn't what it was, not much variety and often cold. Another area where it could improve was the check in, we arrived late(30 minutes) and there were only 2 staff members checking us in, which took us over a hour+ to check in, since some arrogant customers decide to ask all kinds of questions at the wrong time and the line grows!! Special mention would go to Gustavo from Grazie Restaurant and Alexis from Hunter Steakhouse and Santiago from the buffet were excellent and looked after us as we were family, fantastic job. Only other negative point I would like to mention, some area's of the resort have a foul odor ( possibly sewers?) and napkins also not cleaned properly at the main buffet Marche.All other areas, grounds and washrooms very well maintained.

  Fabulous holiday with amazing staff

  Had an amazing time at this hotel. All the staff were amazing, friendly and helpful especially Luis at the Splash Bar. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him.

  Absolutely amazing birthday trip – can’t wait to go back!

  We stayed at the Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun to celebrate my 40th birthday, and WOW it was absolutely incredible. We were a group of 12 and every single part of the experience exceeded our expectations. The resort is beautiful, the rooms were stunning, the food was delicious, and the service was next-level. A huge shoutout to our butlers, Sergio & Manolo, who went above and beyond to take care of our group, truly outstanding service from start to finish. On Tuesday night, we had an amazing dinner at Hunter Steakhouse and ordered the off-menu tomahawk steaks… unreal 🔥. Sergio and Manolo made the evening extra special and made sure we were treated like VIPs. Big love to the Vibe Team — Rubi was always smiling and brought such great energy, keeping us entertained and having fun. And Hugo at the Hideaway Beach Club made sure we stayed hydrated while soaking up the sunshine — much appreciated! 🍹 All in all, an unforgettable trip and the perfect way to celebrate a milestone birthday. Everything was superb and we cannot wait to come back again!

  Stunning Setting, But Not Five-Star

  This resort LOOKS AMAZING. It had incredible views of the ocean, it was immaculately kept and most of the staff were wonderful to interact with. We found the beach to be quite pleasant. It was not the calm azure that exists in other parts of the Caribbean, but was warm and fun! Our family group travelled over the Christmas holiday, so that could explain some of the issues that we had. It was VERY busy. Only twenty minutes from the airport, the Royalton Riviera was very easy to get to. Check in was rather slow, it appeared to our group that when we arrived it was the first that they had heard of us. Getting to the rooms was painstakingly slow. We were also separated from our family, including our children, which we had repeatedly asked not to have happen before we arrived. The rooms were lovely. Our room was well maintained. It was a swim out room in Diamond Club. Some in our group had minor maintenance issues which didn't lend themselves to a 5 star resort. For the life of me, I can't figure out why we paid the extra for Diamond Club Service. If this is how premium travellers had to navigate the resort, I'd hate to think what others were doing. Diamond Club bars ran out of drinks and ice regularly. Food trucks and restaurants had long lunch line ups and ran short on supplies as well. Butler service was really just a conduit to get restaurant bookings---which was an unmitigated NIGHTMARE!!! The hotel "claimed" this was because we were a group, but that was utter hogwash as each night there were large groups and families seated together in weirdly empty restaurants. Many in our family enjoyed the buffet. I found the food well presented, but bland and lukewarm. I would say this of the a la cartes as well. In the end, we had a lovely time. The weather was warm, the water wet, the drinks were plentiful, the pools were fun, and the food was edible (with the exception of the ceviche at the food trucks which was DELICIOUS). I would absolutely question any 5 star rating provided. These do not line up with any guest feedback that I could come across. The value just wasn't there. With the price we paid for this family vacation, we just simply expected more. We will definitely be back to Cancun, but likely not to the Royalton Riveria. Staff members that were EXCEPTIONAL: Jeshua at the Diamond Club pool and beach was lovely. He made the stay! He was pleasant, helpful and kind. He created a space for our family at the pool, and made sure our family member with mobility needs got the chair that was needed. He answered questions about the hotel and made us feel very comfortable. Eduardo in the buffet went an extra mile to make our meals enjoyable. The gym was well equipped and the staff incredibly welcoming. I truly believe that the people made this resort. Something is going on at a leadership level that begs a number of questions, but the rank and file staff members are great! NB: If folks from the hotel actually read this review and want to implement ONE suggestion, let it be this: MOVE THE BLOODY METAL PALM TREE THINGS IN THE LOBBY!!! They are too short and bop people in the head!! Raise them up, or just get rid of them!

  Food poisoning ruined my birthday here

  Firstly I went to the hideaway before which was great. Lovely views staff and scenery. This time round was in the main one. I went for my birthday and got FOOD POISONING. Ended up in the room for over a went and birthday. Had to eat the brat diet everyday. No salt sugar or drinks dairy spice flavour. Just rice carrot toast banana and water. Boring. The service for getting food to room was a shambles as I had to stay in the room. Second time on mexico getting sick and mother once. This will be my last time in Mexico. The staff are friendly tho
